Any one get the menu key to function as a search key besides bringing up Google search on the home Page?
AOKP does that by default.

In most apps holding the menu key acts like a search button on a stock rom. Not so with AOSP or AOKP. Bummer.
Is not design to do it on stock ICS/jellybean samsung added it since they don't have a search key

If you don't mind using another launcher such as apex you can set it to do that or many other things.

Unfortunately, the text search option only works when in the launcher.

Sorry if this has already been posted or in wrong section, and I take no credit for it but I found it to be pretty cool. To add soft keys to rooted stock touchwiz rom all you have to do is add this line to the build prop and reboot.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Or you could just download "Soft keys" from the Play store!!!!!

You can do whatever you want.... I just thought it was interesting that it wasn't completely disabled and was easily added...If you don't like it or have something else you use, that's great.

Why would I do that? I just edited the build prop and it's there...... I understand there are other ways to get soft keys. But I wanted them built in like the galaxy nexus so when I found this mod I thought I'd share......

Agree with you. I am using the same method on my HD2 CM9 for 8 months now.
My SGS3 will arrive today and I am glad that this method will apply to rooted stock rom. Was wondering if this method CM rom only or also stock rom.
Thank you for your information.
IMO this method is way better than some softkey apps because it doesn't use ram and is native like.

I would love to disable my hard keys. I am new at this stuff, so forgive my ignorance.
I have a t-mobile unlocked 32gb white rooted with AOKP jellybean- 4th release
And I cannot find any other mods to the physical buttons, like making the home button a camera button. Not as important, but would love to know if you can tell me.
Thanks!

Would it be possible to (or does some rom already have it that I don't know about) make it so that lockscreen widgets in 4.2 can be fully expanded by default and then unlocked just by swiping the unlock up? So basically the widget could be shrunk back and the phone unlocked all in one motion?
This would basically unlock in a similar way to HTC Sense. I'm just not a huge fan of having to first shrink the widget and then unlock as it feels like a totally unnecessary step.
I think Xylon has quick press and hold to unlock, but I found Xylon to be pretty unstable on my VZW nexus. Could that functionality be ported to any rom? If it matters I'm running Liquid Smooth Beta.
Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
Team sourcery rom has auto maximize widgets and long press lock key to unlock phone. Works very well for what you are looking for

So what would be the point of using this if I still have to use a second app to get full functionality? Much like the sliding messaging app, this one is just not usable if I have to have multiple apps to do the job of one

Clearing data and cache did the job! thanks.. I can also confirm that MMS works with the last one you updated. It is different from the original version though.
Doesn't have emoji button next to the text input area.
On one of the Galaxy S ROMs I used, I could change the statusbar's location to the bottom of the screen, and I could then swipe up for my notifications. Is that possible with my rooted d2att 4.2.2 phone?

I use Task's AOKP exclusively and it's an available option.
HaloLauncher is a simplified launcher application that is design around Paranoid android HALO function.
To view t as a "Dialog" you need to be using a rom that supports HALO!
Current Features:
-List all apps
-Create a favorites list
-Built in Toggles/Settings
-Hide views
Todo:
-More toggles
-List notification in status bar... if possible?

My app is the one floating in front of GoLauncher, the one behind it is GoLauncher... I can try and blur the back ground of the images if that makes it easier to see them?
Is this a standalone app or require halo to be in the rom?

How to make this launcher work? I installed it but I can see only settings? I thought this is a launcher?
This is a app for the Paranoid Android HALO. With this app you can change settings and launch apps from HALO. It is not a launcher like go, nova or apex.
Edit: it is a cool concept and nice app.

it will launch like a normal app it your using a rom the doesnt support HALO, the ting ive done is use HALOs custom intent flags to allow it to always launch as a "Dialog" type thing. if your not using halo it will just list the applications.
