hello!
I got a HTC Wildfire.
I am using CM7 atm.
I made a Nandroid backup and installed CM9 (again, lol).
But after it booted it works for 20-40 seconds and boots again. I am always in the mobile for 20-40 seconds then it boots aagaina nd always.
Then I downloaded a fresh CM7 and installed... same happened again! I can control my phone for 20-40 seconds and then it boots and starts again and so on.
BUT - If I put my Nandroid backup of my CM7 back, it works again.
Is there a way to solve it? I always do a full wipe of phone,.. cache, data, boot, system.. it always worked but since today it doesnt..
Thank you in advance - Btw, if I got 10 Posts on XDA I will release my custom made bootscreen for the Wildfire.. (it's against apple )
were u using bravo recovery before installing cm9?

Yes.
Bravo recovery, restarting it from advanced>reboot recovery
then cm9
then bravo boot
still doesnt work.. I even use 200 MB for rom and 25 mb for cache (for cm7 i use 130 for rom and 10 for cache).
wipe all, install other rom, try cm7 stable. should work (;

I did that already.
I wipe ALL
Then I installed the followed rom: CM7 (stable), CM9 and CM9.1
My phone always reboots after 20 seconds after it finished booting.
But if I use my old Nandroid Backup of my old CM7 (stable), it works perfect but I'd like to use CM9.
so try to install some elder version. btw for ics i prefer ligux or paranoidandroid (; faster than cm9 for me (;

I will now, but this is strange: Why did my 2 week old CM7 stable backup work? Btw why does a fresh new CM 7 stable, CM9 and CM 9.1 not work?
D:
personally i didn't meet this kind of issue so far (; maybe the problem is not fully completed download? try to download non working roms for u again and make sure that is fully downloaded and maybe then it'll work for u (;

Firefox successfully downloaded CM7 stable btw. It still crashes about like 35 seconds ._.
ok, so u say that only cm9 and cm7 as new roms are crashing. i have one more idea. what are ur settings about cpu? try to turn on phone again and quickly set ur cpu from minimum to 729 or 691 mhz. it also can be the issue. if it won't work for u, then try to download sense based rom like rem rom but 2.71 version (; do u have ext partitions on sd?

No sd Ext for me
The other strange thing is: My 2 week old CM 7.2 Nandroid Backup is running with 768 MHz.
After Installing CM7.2 as a fresh rom, I had like 30 seconds to go to the CPU Settings, there it said 576 MHz, so that might be not a problem..
I will try Rem Rom now.
ok, but rem rom requires ext partition to work properly. i recommend to use other sd card if u have another of course, make ext on another card and then install rem rom. why another? because i want to prevent u from loosing well working nandroid backup (; when u make ext part. then u loose all ur stuff on sd. give a try with rem rom and then let me know. i am going to sleep now so i will check forum tommorow and try to help u if it won't work. good luck m8 :3

Hey =)
I used my old SD Card with REM ROM, it also crashes after some seconds D:
..
Here is something to try:
Since it boots try enabling "Only use 2G"
It may be the 3g reboot bug you've got there.

or danaged hardware in the worst way ); but still i can't understand why backup works and new rom not ...

Hello. Thanks for your reply.
U mean I flash my new rom and put 3G off immediately after booting?
I will try it now with several roms. Going to edit if succeed/fails.
EDIT: I will also try this after doing the 3G thingy: Install new ROM, backup the new rom. Wipe all and restore the fresh rom. Maybe this works xD.
EDIT2: I installed CM 9.1 and I put airplane mode on. Now it didn't reboot since 4 minutes I'll put it off and put all connections off to. I wanna know what causes the crash.. GPS, 3G or..?
EDIT3: Wifi seems to work, I think the phone is working.. Don't close the thread please in the next 3 days
What s your stategy for CPU speed ?
I have installed Ligux and put smartassV2 with 691-768Mhz. And it works good until now.

So far, I've only used AOSP ROMs (DevNull and Oxygen) since I rooted my phone. Personally, I like it better because I like simplicity, and the idea of a stock ROM appealed to me.
But there seems to be a problem with AOSP ROMs, the call delay issue. Although people say they hardly notice it, I get 3-4 seconds delay every time and I find myself going like "Yes. Hello. Hello? Are you there?" every time I answer a call. I've heard that the problem is AOSP-specific, because of some libs Google uses, and that HTC use their own libs which do not present this issue.
So yesterday I backed everything up and got ready to try LeeDroid. But after installation, I could not get the ROM to boot nor the SD card to mount. I eventually fixed the problem by repartitioning the SD card, and I'm now running DevNull. I'd also like to mention that I'm S-OFFed, was running CWM 3.1.0.1 and had the Oxygen HBOOT before installing the Stock one back.
Now, I'd like to know how I am supposed to correctly switch to a Sense ROM coming from an AOSP one, as well as some opinion as to which is the cleanest, reasonably fast Sense ROM available out there. Perhaps some thoughts on kernels, too.
Thanks in advance!
I am on RcmixS 1.6.2 at the moment and working well.
Do full wipethen flash the rom, that is it. Enjoy.
I did perform a full wipe before installing.
What version are you trying to install? At the start the GB version didn't like the newer versions of CWM, also hboot versions were an issue too. I haven't really been keeping up because I went back to 2.4.1 till an actual GB release. Check it out those might be causing you trouble.

I've downloaded InsertCoin and I plan on installing it later today, as now I've got some stuff to finish. If it doesn't work, I'll try downgrading CWM. Thanks!
You need to use the stock 250MB HBOOT - obviously a Sense-based ROM is too large for the Oxygen one

Try AuraxTSense, i have been back and forth between most of the Sense ROMS & this is the one i come back too.
ALWAYS
I've given InsertCoin a try yesterday, but I didn't like it as it was way too laggy (as in I usually had to touch something twice for anything to happen).
I think I'm going to try each one today and see what I'll end up using. I'll post my opinions here.
@EddyOS I did use the stock HBOOT with LeeDroid, but I downloaded the CM7 version of InsertCoin.
@3f1f37 I'll give it a try, thanks!

laggy? twice touching ?
Are you trying to touch things during the first minutes of the first boot after flashing??
Let the ROM settle about 5-10 mins after first boot, your phone will be blazing fast afterwards.
InsertCoin 1.0.7 CM7 (Gongerbread; Sense 2.1 + 3.0; 130MB) is one of the fastest and the most stable Sense ROMs currently available,I use it also.

I too felt it was very laggy. CM7 version, with CM7 hboot, 1GBext. even the typing was bad, had to retype messages because it would start to lag out and miss letters
i dont know what i could have done wrong to get such a horrible experience. maybe you can enlighten me?
@aaa I've overall had a laggy experience even one day after installing it.
@ringer13 what ROM have you eventually settled to? Thanks!
I'm currently trying CoolD, or something like that, because the ZIP only has 144 MB. I also tried installing HiApk (it has 138 MB), but the download was damaged or something, it didn't pass the verification process in Amon_RA 2. But I will redownload it if I'm dissatisfied with CoolD.

cyanogenmod7 ive found most gb sense roms way too laggy so went with aosp
I'll have to agree with that. My HiApk ZIP was corrupted and after booting CoolD, all I got was Force Close for all the apps, including the launcher.
I didn't bother anymore, so I went on and installed Oxygen 2.1.3. It works like a charm.
Well it is true that u have to sacrifice speed, but the benefits from the sense are worthing the less smooth response, and mostly it is hardly noticeable...
Sent from my HTC Desire
I know the speed comparison of AOSP and Sense, I have used both.
The only thing I have not used is MIUI...saw it on youtube, and hate it right away...
I know AOSP is always faster than Sense but Sense in generally especially InsertCoin is not so bad so that you had to touch things twice before getting any response.
Moreover, InsertCoin is one of the fastest Sense ROMs you can find.
If you had to touch everything twice until you got any response from your phone, check if you have massive processes on the background caused by any other apps/syncs or some problems with your SD card.
Hii everyone.
I have some questions regarding CM7 [Nightly Builds] right now i m using CM7 Stable (7.0.03) and want to upgrade to CM7 nightly.
But before doing that i want to know
Firstly, the difference between the both?
Secondly, will it be flashed through the same way as i hv flashed stable CM7?
Third, i m using CWM 4 so will it require to upgrade to 5 to flash nightly?
Four, how is the camera quality in nightly becoz i hv found a worst cam experience in CM7 stable yesterday?
Sorry for my english. I wanted to know all these things so i hv putted my queries here.
Hope this might help more newbies like me.
Thnx
1: There are many changes which go into everyone of the nightlies, so you will have newer features, and, maybe, newer bugs. But, you can read the last few pages of the CM Nightlies thread to get info on any bug which members may be facing. Nightly changelogs can be found here:
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=buzz
2: Yes, it will be flashed in the same way.
3: No, CWM4 will work perfectly.
4: Its pretty much the same across all AOSP ROM's. The only thing that is new is the Touch to Focus Function which is now implemented. Use Better Camera mod for CM7 here, which reduces the JPEG Compression applied on the images, giving potentially sharper images:

CM7 Nightly # 177
Hello ...Pardon my mistakes .. i am kinda beginner for Android .. ..
I just flashed CM Nightly 177 .. works great .. its fast ... but i am facing problems if anyone can help me with this :
1- after installing ZIP of CM i installed the zip "gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip" for google apps. it worked for me with my last CM7 based ROM "High Voltage 1.2" .. but not working here .. i am unable to get Market and Maps .. which Google apps zip i should install with this nightly... ?
2- i was using A2SDGUI with my previous ROM and for that i flashed Darktremor script "dtapps2sd-2.7.5.3-beta04-signed.zip" . but when i use the same script for CM 177, my phone reboots and never seems to complete the boot process "stuck on HTC logo" ... it is obvious that the problem is creating by that script.. but i want to know that ...am i missing something here ??
Or a dumb question ... does it makes any difference to move the apps to SD ??... ?? LOL ... or should i leave it and enjoy rest of the features ??
i will hit the thanks button for sure...
Have you tried popping the battery out when stuck at the HTC screen then rebooting, I'm not sure what causes it but it sometimes happens to me when rebooting From recovery?
I think dta2sd beta 4 is buggy I had problems too, just switch back to beta 3 and it should work fine. Apps will be more stable when running from the internal memory but when I was using a2sd I didn't really notice the difference except a quarter of my miserably small 2gb SD card had gone for the partition :/

hi this is my help, maybe others say different but.......
1. after flashing cm177 flash the gapps too before reboot. i use the same gapps as this on 177 so its fine.
2.i had probs with beta so use Version 2.7.5.2-1.
* personal preferences, i say its worth having the option to move my large memory apps to sd but have tried with and without and cos im a bit of a memory junkie i prefer to use apps on sd.
basic but hope it helps. regards slymobi.

so i flashed the ROM again .. wiping everything .. even formatted the SD and made partitions again..
this time it failed boot only first time .. and i did that battery popping thing (watched the HTC logo for about 15 minutes )... then uptil now its fine with the same beta 4 script .. ... lets see how long it goes ...
but still i am not getting google apps .... ...

I just got my hands on the dinc. I am coming from a rooted D1. Unforuntulny the dinc has been updated and has s-on..
even searched for s-on Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. I love it lol...
Anyways, if i have read correctly if s-on is enabled, I am just SOL in rooting my phone and using custom roms, themes etc till someone finds a workaround , correct?
Also all my game and app data on my d1, anyway to move it over to the dinc?
Updated to GB 2.3.4 and S-On? If so, I found THIS thread a few days ago that seems to be working. Before you do any of that..make sure your SD card is formatted to FAT32.
Apps yes...you can move those over to your Inc. Data would not be a good idea. The data is from a totally different phone so you would cause a lot of issues by doing restoring any app data. My friend who moved on to an Inc from a DX tried to do it and got FC's all over the place.
Good luck and enjoy your new phone!

I looked that over and it looked like it should get you back to s-off, rooted froyo. It's a LOT like the method jcase developed for the Tbolt before Revolutionary. If you can get s-off, you're good to go. Flash a custom recovery and flash a rooted ROM. Should be that simple.
thanks for the info!
Yeah, that thread works.
Thanks again guys, i got it to work last night.. Now i just need to decide on a rom? Any suggestions? I loved chevyNo1 on D1 :/
Your going to love the incredible compared to the og droid, everything is so much snappier, and battery life will increase too.
I'm not a sense guy at all but McD's ROMS are super nice.
I really liked chevy's ROMs too. CM7.1 stable and the latest incredikernel on 10/12 by Tiny will get you started in the right direction if you want to stick with AOSP or if you want something more barebones grab IncDeck 1.3 Final... I just went back to CM7.1 because I felt I got a little better batterylife.
Will give them a try. I did download cm7.1 and on re boot after install it gets stuck on the boot loader. Do I need to do a complete wipe or something ?

Personally, I never use Rom Manager. I flash through recovery; if you use Rom Manager to reboot into recovery, do a factory reset from there and then flash and you should be good.
Ok cool.. thanks for the quick replies.
McD's ROMS i havent seen any of those. I loaded CM7.1 Very simliar to chevyno1's rom.. Trying something different, miui right now, its not bad, reminds me of the iphone though.. Any other suggestions?
I strongly recommend against ROM manager, too. Any dev worth his salt tends to recommend against flashing through ROM Manager because it doesn't seem to do what it's supposed to. It's been a problem child for a long time now. When performing functions done through recovery, it's best to go directly into recovery to perform them. I think the same can be said for the bootloader.
Sorry i meant clockwork, dont know why i keep on saying rom manager. Can anyone help me with roms or should i post a new post on it?
I kind of dig miui but dont like the sms keyboard layout. Its like cm7 and i really like the stock dinc set up. With my big fingers i get less typos with its set up.. Any suggestions?
Here is a list of Dinc ROMs. I personally recommend CM7, but if you like HTC Sense, go for Runny Revolution 3D. Great Sense ROM.
Hi
I have recently tried to flash my Desire with some ROMs and all of them hang and i have to snap the battery.
Here are some details:
I have completely formated my SD card using GParted Live into 2 partitions. One fat32 ~ 6 GB and another ext4 ~ 1.6 gb
I performed a full data wipe> cache wipe> dalvik wipe ; before installing any ROM
Installed the ROM> booted > (phone hanged on first boot at the home screen or if not then while using)
Phone works for sometime and starts hanging every now and then... I am not able to use any ROM AT ALL!!!
First i flashed RunnyROM (but that time i did the SD card partitioning with windows) > got hangs and installed SuperNova > got hangs> learnt that the partition needs to be done by GParted > did that installed same ROM > got Hangs > installed Silky ROM > got Hangs> did partition again with GParted> installed Runny ROM.... HANGS HANGS HANGS................aaaahhhhhhhh!!!! BRAINDEAD!
PLEASE HELP!!

The problem is the stock ROM works almost perfectly but I'm not able to use any ROM that requires SD-Ext partition. I've tried with CPU governors and "smartassv2" with 384~998MHz setting seems to be pretty stable at the moment - second round of AnTuTu Benchmark and it still isn't frozen! If it survives the third round, I'll set these settings permanent.
When you try any ROMs, don't plug the charger - it'll propably hang.

Why don't use the Gingerbread update? Seems to be compatible with most of Desire phones.
My Desire froze during the fourth round of AnTuTu Benchmark. Still the best settings though.

Two things:-
- For android to be stable ext partition needs to be less than 1.5 GB.
- Do not use any RUU other than 2.3 Android.

It seems like I have to run the RUU, too. Phone keeps freezing and rebooting anyway.
What class SD card and is it a high quality one like Sandisk?
Sent from my HTC Desire CDMA using xda premium
Do a full wipe of everything:
>system
>data
>cache
>dalvik
Then use a ROM that doesn't use Anything2sd. Then I really don't see how you could get any hangs. If it is rebooting, then it's possible it's a hardware issue where it overheats and reboots.

Always did the FULL wipe... have been looking for a ROM without the App2SD ... but can't find any... I think everyone wants that... ... Why isn't it working for us????
At this point i wouldn't even mind the stock ROM... but strangely the RUU i tried to flash gave an error (mentioned above) now i don't know my compatible RUU.
Please point me to one and i should get over with this .... extremely sad that i can't use such wonderful ROMs... don't even know what's wrong!!
First: I had problems with EXT4 partition, try EXT3 instead.
Second: I recommend CronMod-bravo/bravoc ROM , follow the guide strictly (beware, there are two versions for GSM and CDMA phones).

Right now i am just planning to un-partition my card and find a nice stable non all2sd ROM...
Any recommendations?
Have you tried a different SD card

I'm using nikez lente 101b2 it is a really stable 4.0 rom but a2sd helps. I used mini tool partition wizard it was really easy.

Most AOSP ROMs don't need A2SD since they can fit into the cm7 or oxygen HBOOT.
CM7
Oxygen
MIUI (Choose the one without A2SD or D2EXT)
dGB
Devnull
I'm sure there are others too.
Also, maybe your SD-Card is just sh*t, because aside from the obvious slight performance decrease of A2SD, there weren't many problems with it. Have you tried other SD-Cards? I'm not saying to buy a new one because it could turn out to be a waste of money, but if you have a spare one which is Class 6 or higher, try that. You can always buy one from the store and return it if it still isn't working as it should.

I want to retain the Sense UI so these ROMs dont suit...
I will give using a different card a shot... i do have some more but dont think any of them is a class 6...
Will update results tomorrow...!!
Im having another wildfire s... I installed MIUI ICS on it and worked fine for a while... some days later when I restarted phone It stucked in boot animation... boot animation is animating and not entering the rom.. even im getting the soft key lights starts illuminating, and sudden maximum brightness and single vibration... Im getting vibration on when touching the lower portion of the phone.. that is little away from the soft keys.... But not entering the rom ? so i flashed Paranoid android ICS same problem again.... Dont know whats the problem... please help
You did wipe data before flashing right?
Are you flashing anything else along with the ROM?

yes wiped data... I installed int2ext+ with it... But it works fine for the first time... after sometime when i restart the problem occurs... but i tried with wildchild rom(including int2ext+) and works fine even after several restarts by me... But I cannot install apps on wildchild.. attempting to install apks makes the rom to restart itself (from boot screen directly)... the I flashed the rom without int2ext+ script everything works fine... no problem at all..
I think it because of memory card issue... what do you think ?
Personally, I'm not a fan of these kind of scripts, you lose your apps everytime you update your ROM. I prefer s2e. It works on all cyanogenmod based ROMs (including miui) and I have been using it since I first rooted my phone and installed cm7, 1 year ago (exactly).
Could you tell me details of you sd card? Partitions, sizes, class, etc?

ext2 partition, 212 mb, class 4....
You should use ext4. Ext2 works fine upto gingerbread, but not above that. And if you use a data2sd script, class 4 is very low. With s2e, don't move your app data. And also remember that your phone will get stuck again if you use s2e with ext2. And isn't 212MB kinda small? The internal storage of the wfs is 150MB..

yes... you are correct... thats my friend's WFS... in mine Im using 16gb class 10 card,.. 400 mb ext2 partition with int2ext+ script with PA ICS... working fine... I will give a try using ext4 on his mobile... his card is only 2 gb.. so only created 212mb... is S2E only works with cm7 ???
