Hm. if im not wrong im pretty sure that His rom converts it to a different format... so put ur sd card stuff in ur internal storage or your computer and then insert your sd card go to settings and storage it should say mount sd card and it should connect to it so the phone can understand it. theres an option to format the sd card i recommend just doing that since your data from ur sd is saved somewhere else and tada! you formated your micro sd card
Yeah I think. That might. Work because I just got a new 32 gig sd card and with that apps tosd hack I formatted it because it is kinda annoying that all that data goes to a fake internal with the nice hack but everything is on card ill just start fresh without format like with the old card thanks it worked fine before I formatted the card on high on androud rom great rom for the moment looking for a good touchwiz rom.

Hi I'm pretty sure this won't be an extremely popular topic but just wondering how people go about formatting there sd cards do u just wipe everything save ur backups? Ur photos music? Anything and also is there anything important I shouldn't delete?? Just curious to see how everyone else does it thanx for being nice

Well, you can use your phone to format it by going into settings and storage. You should back up anything you dont want to lose to your pc. I find that the most effective way is to connect the sd card to the pc either in your phone via usb or via a card reader. Then go to my computer, right click on it and hit format. It thould already be in the right file format(fat32) if im not mistaken. Then just place your pics and whatever else back on there and the android system will do the rest. Hope i helped!

If you are working with a removable SD card I'd recommend HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8. (free)
I had an 8 Gb card sitting around for a while and I wanted to use in my daughter's new phone. I put the card in the PC and deleted everything. Then I thought just format the damn thing. It seemed to only think it had 40 Mb. Windows would not format it to anything over 40 Mb. I had to download the HP tool and it would allow formatting to the full 8 Gb.
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place.. I just installed coredroid 1.2 and my sd card is not detected. Removed the sd card. Complete format then reinsert still doesnt solve the problem. I am able to use the card using a card reader. Any suggestions

It sounds like you are formatting an existing (previously used) card? Do you have some issue with the card? Or just switching between devices? Can't see it making much difference using the built-in Windows disk management tool to format, using the phone to do it, or some other method.
I think even switching between devices, I haven't bothered to re-format, just deleted the files manually and swapped the card into the new phone.
For new cards, I don't even bother to format. They are always pre-formatted to FAT32, AFAIK. So I just insert it in the device and go . . .

if you have just one partition formated with fat32 on your sd-card, you can format it with windows-tools. if there is another partition (ext2/3/4) on your card, its not possible to format the sd-card completely with this tools and you need, as written above, an external tool like that from HP.
Beside this, i don't really understand why you want to do this, except you have a problem with your card...
i wiped my sd card with h.d.d low level format ! now i cant create right ext partition now . how can i do that ? i did everything with partition magic software . but not use .
If you have a Linux box and an SD card read use gparted. If you don't the best/fastest way is with a good recovery in an android phone

I've ran into a problem where my apps aren't seeing my SD card. If I go into storage under settings it see it and can tell me how big it is and how much space is available but my apps don't see it. A file manager can see it and even move files to and from it but my regualr apps cant. Like my camera says no external storage available.
I've tried formatting it in different ways NTFS, exFAT, FAT32 with a couple different allocation sizes but nothing seems to fix it.

Your card has to be fat or fat32. Your card also has to have 50-100mbs left on it also or you will get that no external space or running low using camera. As far as other apps they use the internal sd for storage. Have you tried reformatting it using cwm recovery? It will format the sd or ex sd for you as well. Just some thoughts but you do have a strange issue. If it doesn't work out you might wanna try reflashing your rom to see if that works becsuse it sounds like something is corrrupted somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. Its in fat32. I have tried to format from cwm but it doesn't help. How do I reflash a ROM without my SD card though?

Just bought an SDHC Class 10 64gb SD card from Ebay.
Popped it in an moved all of my 9gb of Roms, Mods and Music over to it.
After about 20 minutes, it started renaming my files and deleting my music.
Took it out and plugged it to the computer.
Noticed it was stocked exFAT.
Downloaded a program to re-format to FAT32.
Re-formated and works perfectly.
Just one problem.
When I do a full wipe in TWRP and flash a new rom, it doesnt let me touch the files on the SD card after flashing the new rom.
It doesn't let me delete, move, download to it, anything.
In order to use the SD card after a full wipe, I have to pop it back into the computer and format it in "My Computer > Right Click on FAT32 > Format".
Which deletes everything on the card.
Is there any way to fix this, or is this because I had to change it from exFAT to FAT32?
Idk lol.
Works perfectly if I just stay on one rom.

It should've been fine if you fat32 formatted on pc, but also try formatting it on your phone in /settings/storage.

Thanks for the help.
I just full wiped and flashed a new rom.
SD card was fully functional.
Maybe just a 1 time thing?
Idk it works now though lol.

I was looking for something that can allow me to manually move spacific apps to SD card.
Is there something that will allow me to do that?
I know there's the appext2sd but that makes the phone think that the SD card is the internal memory.

I am not hostile. I am just trying to understand why the internal SD card is all used up. When you set up the games, typically they have setting that will move the game data files to external SD.
On another note, despite the games, what else do you have on internal sd that's sizeable ?

im looking for the same thing, i have a 64gb card but the rom i am using it wont work with it (using wicked rom on tmo s3).
the card is exfat format and the apps2sd doesnt work...
i have like thousands of mp3s, games/aps and gps stuff etc thats taking up everything...
i was told that if i was to format the exfat to fat it will work just fine and the rom will read it like a normal sd card and we can use the apps2sd app and itll read the 64gb card as normal storage and we can keep the phones memory basically free?
some say yes and others no just want a definitive answer to this because i love the wicked rom and with a 64gb card..
so far i have been using a mod here that is called 11extsd2internalsd, which makes the sd card primary storage and the phones memory secondary.. would be nice not to have to use that and use the card as normal
thanks

Do a favor. Take the Sd Card to a PC and format under Windoz for Fat32. No Quick Format there.

Are you using a custom kernel? Wicked is stock based so it should be able to read exFat. If you are using a custom kernel, that may be why it doesn't work, it may not have the correct modules. (Especially if the kernel is md5 based. Wicked is LJC I'm pretty sure).
Either way though, if you reformat the card to Fat32, it will be more compatible across non touchwiz roms, and would probably be so for you now as well. But I'd use a stock kernel personally. Never had any real issues with them, and you'd probably get to use the card as it was intended.

Last night I decided to restore my phone back to the stock ROM. I've completed this process countless times before without ever having this problem. I made my backups via Titanium and TWRP recovery. Since I had a lot of photos saved internally, I wanted to move them to my SD card before going back to the stock ROM since they would have been deleted. I used my file manager and MOVED folders containing the pictures that I wanted to save to my SD card. I think this is where my problem stems from. I probably should have copied the folders instead of just moving them. After the stock ROM loaded up I went through the introduction steps and afterwards I noticed the "Your SD card is safe to remove" notification. I went to settings to try and mount the SD card but the setting app ends up crashing. Thinking I made a mistake while going back to stock, I restored my phone back the ROM I was using my backup only to find out that the problem still persisted. The card can be mounted in windows and in recovery mode. I have no idea how to make my phone mount it normally though.
Since you restored stock and are having problems I would flash stock via Odin without the sdcard in the phone just to be sure.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I just tried that and it still didn't mount. I should probably note that it's my 64GB SD card that cannot be mounted and my 16GB one can.
Fat32?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well then sounds like an issue might be with the format of the card. Try backing it up to pc then formatting it as a fat file system instead of exfat.

I backed up everything from my SD card to my desktop and reformatted it as exFAT (since that's how I originally formatted it) and now my phone can mount it normally again. Still not sure what made it unrecognizable to my phone, but I'm glad I don't have to purchase a new 64GB SD card now. Thanks for helping guys. Much appreciated.

I still suggest using plain fat since exfat is not supported 100% by all roms/kernels. This could save you from issues later if you change from stock roms to custom roms.
