Hi
I downloaded 1.29.720 Ruu but I got bootloader error.
why??
I know there is no newer version of Indian RUU is available.
what should I do.
thanks for guiding me.
You should tell us what version you have.
If it's newer, then you can't run the RUU.
In which case you should install your android backup, I guess. Depends what you're trying to achieve.
Hi thanks
how to I know the build number??

You can't install 1.29.720 as its older.
If you can't find 2.17.720.2 RUU, you'll have to install your android backup, I guess, depends what you're trying to achieve.
Hi
thanks for guiding me.
I found it here http://www.mediafire.com/?r17hpho1hho27
but it is 148 MB
How to install it??
like other RUU??
thanks again
That's the OTA file and can only be flashed over a phone running the previous version and is 100% stock. You'll have to wait for the RUU to surface

There is no matching ruu for you out, the only way to het back to stock is to restore a nandroid backup. If you don't have it yourself you can download this one
http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/190-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-htc-038-31472024/
In basic steps :
1: unlock the bootloader
2: flash a custom recovery
3: flash the boot.img from the nandroid
4: make a full wipe in recovery
5: restore the nandroid backup
6: reboot

i'm using this batch file to charge (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084)
but it wont get past 3717mV, well it will but it wil reaallyy long to get my battery 30%
someone said that if you unlock it and instal clockworkmod recovery 3.8.4.0 it will charge while in recovery, but it doens't work.
do you know another way of charging my battery?
Nope in this case it's or the script or the recovery 5.8.4.0....don't know if you mean the same recovery.....but this is the one you need to charge in recovery

I think you are stuck with a custom rom for a while ! Haven't seen you ruu nor a nandroid backup ! Sorry dude, i can't seem to help you with the knowledge that i have !!
Hi One X xda'ers
To start off this is NOT a thread talking about how to gain S-OFF, Why HTC should give us S-OFF or any other type discussions that have been covered before. This is for information concerning existing One X International Tegra S-OFF devices.
I thought i would create this to help those with an S-OFF device as most instructions tend to concentrate on S-ON.. It may also be useful on that glorious day when everyone can get S-OFF .
Following is a list of statements that I hope are useful.
1. There are a limited number of factory S-OFF devices out there.
2. There is currently no way to S-OFF your One X S-ON device at home. Only the odd Russian or Chinese shop can S-OFF for a charge.
3. The process for rooting and installing custom recoveries and roms is the same as for s on devices.
4. Even with S-OFF you must still unlock your bootloader via HTCDev if you want to install custom roms and root.
5. Even with S-OFF when you re-lock your bootloader it states that its ***RELOCKED*** same as an S-ON device.
6. S-OFF devices can write the boot.img from a ROM.zip from within custom recovery so you dont need to use fastboot commands separately. EDIT: not all devs atempt to flash the boot.img in install scripts even though it would work for the soff few. If Rom does not boot or radios don't work then flash the boot.img using pc as usual.
7. Yes this means you don't actually need a PC to install a ROM with some rpm zips.
8. For this same reason you can restore a nandroid from recovery and not worry about separately flashing the boot.img.
9. S-OFF devices should have Super CID-11111111. This means you can flash any firmware for any CID. Be Careful as it may also let you flash incorrect firmware from another device and bork it (not sure).
10. Ive seen one report that an RUU exe file will not effect your S-OFF status. I have not tried it.
So the key benefits are as follows:
1. Being able to flash boot.img from the phone only without using a PC and fastboot commands.
2. Not getting stuck waiting for a particular firmware update to become available for your CID.
So to all those S-ON'ers with S-OFF envy its not all that much better especially now a lot of CID's have JB supported firmware !
Im no expert so if anyone sees anything wrong or can offer other info\tips please let me know. Hope this helps.
cheers.
Not all of us we have jb,i'm stuck on hboot 0.97 I can not install even cyangen mod

Guide me on the different oem modes, what do they mean and what do I do once in it? I don't need my phone to be locked status but happy to play.

After relocking the bootloader, my phone is doesn't boot to system it just shows the htc logo and goes straight into bootloader.
Here is the info that it shows:
***Software status: Modified***
*** RELOCKED***
***Security Warning ***

I saw it on this thread that I can download an run RUU to fix this, and I've download this file for my AT&T M8. My question is, will it be all right to run this? I'm just making sure as I don't wanna brick my device. And if this not the way to go, can anyone help me in any way? Any help would be great.

That's the wrong RUU. You need this one.
1. But my HTC One M8 is AT&T, don't I need one for that?
2. Will it be all right if I do this? Will I brick my phone or damage the software in any way?

You have the Developers Edition model of the M8, which was sold by AT&T. You can tell that from your firmware version (OS) in your bootloader readout.
Regular AT&T models will show the firmware version being x.xx.502.x
Dev Ed model will show x.xx.1540.x
You won't damage your phone, but you might have to flash the firmware first before running the RUU if it fails. I'm not sure where to find a signed firmware (you need signed if S-On) but you could search for it.
Try running the RUU first to see if it works. You won't brick, you'll just get an error and the installation will abort if it won't work (if you need to flash the firmware first).
You could also try out the methods in this thread to return to stock ROM and recovery, and update via the official OTA.
Okay, thank you very much.
I'll try the RUU first and see what happens. Thanks again.

Cool! I haven't been in your OP for a while now. Very nice addition.
Hey, I got a 155 error saying RUU can't update my phone, I need to download the proper RUU. Please help me. I'm freaking out.
EDIT: I found this from this site, saying that 617 has replaced 1540 after the M9, maybe i need to download another RUU?

Crap! I forgot to tell you that since you are S-On you will need to relock your bootloader first
In fastboot: fastboot oem lock then run the RUU again

Did it. says 'bootloader already locked". Sorry for not including this info in the previous reply.
i guess, this has made s-on after flashing wrong firmware. (MID has changed or has flashed modified firmware; you or someone else). you have to s-off again to flash ruu.
post a fastboot getvar all without S/N & IMEI to see exactly what has happened.

This is for the M9 and devices made after (M10). This doesn't apply to the M8.
The RUU linked by xunholyx is the right one.
Did you try to flash the stock firmware (6.12.1540.4) then the RUU, as already advised?

How do you know its the AT&T version? Does it have the AT&T "globe" logo on back cover?
If so, it was probably s-off at one time, than had its CID changed, and RUU flashed to "convert" it to US Developer's Edition software.
You need to flash the RUU that matches the current CID, it doesn't matter what it was "originally". And most folks won't want the AT&T bloat and limitations, anyway.
After getting the error, I flashed the firmware mentioned here.
After that the RUU ran flawlessly.
