The CyanogenMod team has been making good progress towards the latest, stable version of its ROM - CyanogenMod 10 - but there's still time for more features to be added before its eventual release.
One of those features is a root-enabled file manager, which was announced on the Cyanogen Google+ page a few hours ago. Judging from the screenshots, it looks to blend in seamlessly with other CyanogenMod features and the rest of the Android OS, with a really nice looking interface. (Screenshots Below)
When you're browsing through your files, you will be able to choose between three access modes: Safe mode, Prompt User mode and Root Access mode. As you'd expect, it will allow you to view files on your internal storage device as well
you can get the apk here:

No problem with root access and run quite smoothly, but I can't enter root folder..
And it's darn white, cm team needs to black or gray theme it..reverting to good old "root explorer".

Got "Install failed" on Vision with CM10 unofficial. My ROM was forked from CM10 nightlies at 2012-10-30, did something related to filemanager change from that moment?

you should install this as a system app,
you can use Root Explorer for that,

Hey mate, not sure of your association with Cyanogen (so I maybe shooting my mouth off too soon?) but I know you have stated courtesy of Android police, but I was just wondering if you have asked someone from the Cyan team if it is ok to post this up?
They put a lot of hard work into their apps and customisations, and I know that one of their team had made mention in a post the other day that they were starting to get tired of people just automatically assuming that it's ok to post up/reproduce/hack/kang or "claim as their own" the work of the cyanogenmod team without any courtesy to contact anyone in the team and ask first?
It's like they have been labelled like a vendor and acknowledgements becoming null and void cause of 'who they are' and that people going as minimal of just stating their sources like that is enough? I mean I could be wrong in this instance, and I am only relaying the expressions of one of their team, but it maybe worth while just flicking someone a quick PM first as courtesy and second as appreciation maybe?

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I know your right, but at the very least someone could write a script and put it in a CWM script.
Just for information sake that if you place an app in system/app that a reboot is going to be necessary anyway, and that fix permissions can be performed in recovery that will enable the correct permissions for the app anyway.
From a personal perspective, and as far as I know....most cyanogen mod apps can be installed to the phone as signatures won't clash. If it does install as a user app (as i would expect) then there is no real need to put the app in system. Why bother? RootExplorer and RootBrowser are non factory file browsers and they do not require to be installed in system/app?
Just sayin
---------- Post added at 12:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:43 AM ----------
Oh sorry to clarify and further to what I have posted above. The reason that this app probably doesn't work so well on Touchwiz ROMs like Wanams is because the app is in system and the framework is attempting to disable it because it's signatures don't match. Another reason to try installing as a normal app first.

***Warning Dragons Ahead!!*** Do this at your own risk, I am just providing the files / scripts and can not be held responsible for any harm done to your device. It's working great for me but your results may vary, but again I am not responsible for any damage or problems you might encounter by using this mod.
This mod will not stop the ota updater from working properly and may even help pull in updates, this one should work on all builds.. It will change your build number and tab name unfortunatly there is no fix for this since the market uses this info to determine which apps to display.
Be sure to back up your original build.prop before doing this mod!!!
This mod is for HoneyComb Only
(to backup simply copy your origional build.prop file to an alternate location like /mnt/sdcard).
A little about the build.prop file and what it does:
Your build.prop file contains a lot of information about your tab. Things like what model, version of android, manufacturer and other info can be found within, but it also can control certain aspects such as display density, wifi scan time and other misc tweaks that improve overall smoothness.
This build.prop file contains the following changes:
# Makes the market and apps think your a100 is really an a500 (letting you find and buy more apps then what you'd normally see in the market)
# Speed up UI (smoother flinging)
# Battery saving tweaks
# Inet optimization tweeks
# Additional tweaks to fine tune the touch screen (still has the double letter issue when typing too fast)
# Additional tweaks to improve battery saving while tablet sleep
# Added LCD Density (you can change to smaller icons and higher virtual resoolution by lowering the density (see inside of build.prop file)
# Reorganized the build.prop file and included comments for the various tweeks
# Added settings to improve image quality when taking pictures and recording video and speed up bootimes (just by a few seconds) [thanks to tehgyb of xda]
# Added settings to improve streaming media streaming (improves youtube preformance) [thanks to Icewyng of xda]
# Added settings to improve app compatibility (less fc's) [thanks to Icewyng of xda]
Requirments: (things you'll need before doing this mod) You'll need to be rooted and have root explorer installed. (or some other method of copying the build.prop file to /system)
Instructions:
- Open root explorer and navigate to /system and tap the mount r/w button
- Unzip the file and put build.prop in /system (be sure to make a backup copy first!)
- Reboot and watch your tab fly even faster!
If you have problems finding apps in the market (such as gameloft games) try clearing the cache for market.
-----------------------------------
If you'd like the terminal commands (if you cant figure out any other way to copy and dont have root explorer), let me know and Ill work up the commands and post them.
WOWWW !! Awesome MOD !! Very fast tab !!
very nice
thank you so much! finally we got some attention in the dev department, and i really do appreciate it
will tast it later and report back.

also guys if you don't wanna use root explorer (not sure if its free now) but you can use ES Explorer go to settings and check root explorer and mount system boxes. Then you can copy the file over or edit the build.prop yourself.
crossix this looks awesome, i will be doing this after work today, thank you so much for your work!
i know its kind of off topic but is it at all possible you or someone could post the acer sync.apk from Acer_A100_2.007.04_COM_GEN_1? its located in /system/app. I didnt know it handled the exchange portion of the rom, so i uninstalled it and titanium backup just hangs on restoring it for me
thanks again for everything!
Anyone try this on gen2 yet?
Sent from my thunderbolt using tapatalk
it would change the build number of the current running rom and potentially cause a softbrick with some of the extra's acer put in. You can try it, just make sure you have a working recovery method before you do!
If you've borked your recovery so that none of the update.zip files are recognized (you get the red spin forever error) then you'll need to look at the bootloader thread in the general section for a working recovery image (probably should make that another topic in this dev section).

Funny, now cause it thinks it is a A500 I got an OTA update notification, which I ignored since I do not want to brick my A100 LOL!!
Does this mod give you the Astro file manager that breaks down the sections of storage areas like when it is installed on the A500? Super handy how it had it broken down to Internal/External SD/USB storage sections, instead of having to navigate to \mnt\sdcard or \mnt\external_sd

Um, no.. I have no idea what that is. This mod just make the market and any apps you install think your running a a500. It doesn't give you any extra functionality in the apps that come with the tab. Also, if you have wifi disabled while your tab is turned off there's hardly any battery usage. After sitting for 8hrs today I had 96% battery left, .5% an hour ain't bad at all.

I used smali and allowed each APK to reference all of the .odex files in the framework, added the classes.dex files to their respective APKs, and zipaligned. I don't know if it matters, but I did those steps through the command line, although I'm sure the process would be a lot faster with a script. If you would like the exact line-by-line process that I used, let me know.
So how is this Rom & all I have to do is download & flash it or is there another step to do?

The procedures are the same as for other ZIP-based ROMs: download, transfer to phone, and flash through recovery. You may or may not need to erase your data (depending on which ROM you're coming from), but backing up your data beforehand is advisable and never hurts.
I haven't received any feedback regarding this specific ROM yet (I don't know if that's a good or bad sign). The main difference is that it's deodexed and will decompile without errors. I'm sure there are other threads with more in-depth information on IMM26 changes/improvements/issues.
SuperUser
I was impressed with this rom for the first few minutes I used it. But then I found out that my SuperUser app wasn't working. I tried updating the binaries through the app itself but it couldn't gain root access. I downloaded the file again and flashed it again but SuperUser still didn't work. It was the same problem with not gaining root access. So I flash the SuperUser zip file from zedomax's tutorial on rooting the Nexus S 4G and I was able to gain root access. Just thought I'd tell you.
mvilla, how did you fix the superuser root access problem? i am having the same problem when i try to update binary, and im getting permission error when i try to flash recovery in rom manager, i think is because of superuser not working.
I went to nexusshacks.com and downloaded the nexussrootICS.zip file (I think that's what its called). There's a SuperUser.zip file within that zip file. I moved the file to my phone and flashed it in recovery (wipe cache and dalvik cache of course). And its working well.

Hey buddy, I'd LOVE to have the step-by-step, or line-by-line on the process you used to decompile. If you could PM me, or post it up here for everyone to use, that would be great!! I'm kinda new to the decompiling and compiling scene so any help would be great! Also, you said that most devs that use ICS probably use a kitchen to decompile and compile their .jar and .apk files, where is this kitchen? Or are you talking about Android SDK?

I guess the Google Apps are included?
Will there be any further updates to this in the near future, or has this reached the end of the line so-to-speak? Just curious because I like having the natural AOSP of this.
Been using this since the 9th and I have to say it's very smooth. Very stock too, which obviously is what it's supposed to be. Just saying that for anyone who comes in looking for something customized. This is basically pure vanilla ICS.
Sorry for the delayed replies. I've been hammered by other obligations lately.

I have replaced the Google apps that have been updated since the IMM26 release. There are rumblings that the official ICS ROM should be released sometime soon. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll offer the same thing to that release once it comes out.
If you're asking about adding functionality or features, I don't think I'd have anything unique to offer since there are so many other ROMs and customizable updates out already. I have considered including FaceLock functionality, but it adds quite a bit of size to the ROM and honestly, it hasn't worked very well for me. If there is enough interest, I'll include it as a separate revision in the future.

Unfortunately the voice search portion doesn't work for my Galaxy s3 on sprint. It'll show initializing for a brief second the it'll say it could catch what I said before I have a chance to say anything. Any suggestions on what I can try to get it working?

Tested working on FXP145 and newer. Older should probably work too, but I'm not sure about that. (CM10 and Xperia S, of course)
Please report if it works and any bug you run in to! And you might want to backup the files modded by this mod (services.jar, framework-res.apk, framework2.jar, framework.jar and android.policy.jar which are all in the system/framework/ folder) in case you want to get back to the original lockscreen.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download:
Here.
Warning! Somebody reported to me the mod isn't working properly on FXP149. Somebody else reported it working though, so I guess it should be fine. You probably want to backup your files for the sake of safety though.
Install instructions:
1. Save the zip to your phone's memory.
2. Reboot into recovery.
3. Go to "Install from zip" -> "Install from sdcard" and select the zip file.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions.
5 . Reboot device and enjoy!

Big thanks to:
evilisto for making the patch needed for this mod!
The FXP team(Bin4ry, Defer, Kali, Jerpelea) for making this beatiful rom!
Been waiting for this and it works great. Only thing is that when you unlock it the time doesn't dissappear straight away, but this is so minor I don't really care. Thanks a lot!

Will this work with Paranoid Android 2.55 ? :x
Probably will work. Back up the files and try it if you want to know, you can always restore!

The framework is different. Give him the PA 2.55 framework-res.apk (and maybe a few other files, I don't remember what is used) so he can apply over it.
I am just waiting for FXP to fix the problems on their kernel which was causing problems on dual boot to update my PA to the next version, so consider it, @OP, a request for the future.

Yes I know about that first one, but as you can see in the video, it's in the original mod too. So I don't think I can do anything about it. Will look into the source though.
That second thing looks interesting, because here it shows up every time, even though sometimes barely visible. Are you sure it really isn't there sometimes?

Sadly enough that won't work, because the patch (from the original mod) isn't done to the compiled (framework-res.apk, framework.jar etc...) files, but to the source code. Then I compile it and pick out the files needed, pack them up in a zip file, and deliver them to you .

Yeah I was already thinking about that, but I don't know for sure if it will work. Since this patch is made for CM10, I think it might break some things specific to PA. I'll download the PA source and try it out when I have some spare time

It can break something at PA source, but it is based on CM10, so how knows.

Yeah that's kinda what I thought. I'll look into the code if I can maybe "layer it up" or something, but don't pin me down on that .

Because it's made for CM10 my friend but still thanks for trying because I now know I'll have to build a special one for PA and AOKP
Btw, a small status update: I've ran out of disk space on my wubi install so I'm waiting on my NAS to come, which should arrive somewhere next week. Then I can move all my media (movies, music etc...) to the NAS, and resize my wubi disk to a lot bigger one Then the sources I was downloading can continue
Perfect in fxp 147

Yes, the

Just realized that the file is invalid, I'm working on recovering it as we speak.
Here, it should work now, just open metamorph and select unzip/extract new theme and select ICS_theme_2 from wherever you saved it to.

1. Unzip the theme to a folder in your sd card
2. Go to market and install the metamorph app.
3. Use View attachment UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta5.apk to root your phone if you are not root already, or my advice-if you have the time for it-is to install a custom rom.
4. Enable USB debugging in settings-applications-development.
5. Open the metamorph app that you installed earlier.
6. Tap "pick existing theme"
7. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped the theme to, and then select the "ICS_theme_1.0.xml" file to let metamorph know how to use the theme.
8. Follow the prompts and when it reboots, just let it, as it needs to reboot to edit system files, much like chkdsk on windows.
9. Enjoy! This theme has a black statusbar and holo buttons much like the ones in ICS -correction- they are the original buttons, taken directly from the source! Give me feedback if you think there is anything missing
P.S. I am working on a video tutorial on how to install cyanogenmod, so if you are having trouble rooting your phone, then it will hopefully help.

Hey dude, I was rooted already running an gingerbread build, the launcher that comes with the rom was launcher2, just wanna ask if your ICS theme could also be use on that rom. thanks in advance.
It will likely work on almost any ROM, but some elements might not be themed, best of luck!:fingers-crossed:

Yeah bro, I tried it but nothing change, I used the metamorph.apk from market and followed what you have said, but I think its not suitable for the rom I'm using.
But thanks for the help you given me... :good:
you might need to adjust the reboot timeout in metamorph settings, so that it doesn't reboot in the middle of the operation.
You might try ninjamorph, but no promises. What ROM are you using? If you want, I can email you a copy of the one I know it works for.
now on cm 6.1 stable

hello bro, sorry for the late reply, recently I tried it on EzGingerBread but it failed when I apply it nothing happen but now I'm on CM 6.1stable (I don't want gingerbread builds I find them so slow on my phone) thanks in advance.
That's funny, I just moved to ezgingerbread. I'm not actually finding it that slow with the ram hack. I literally flashed it about 15 minutes ago, and this was sent using it. By the way, I found that It only really worked for the rom i had included the name of in the xml file. I'm working on bringing holo to gingerbread as we speak though....
new rom for me too

Oh, you just flashed ezginger while me I also flashed a few moments ago this new rom I newly discovered also a froyo rom its pre-themed ICS rom named froyo cream sandwich I forgot who post this but its nice superb, Im now testing it.
Send me a link, that sounds awesome! However, is it compatible with the ezterry ram hack?
Yes it is, its themed by darinx (probably butchered his name) there are two ROMs actually, one based off froyo by Laszlo and one of dream team froyo, two of the better froyo builds for the dream
Check the dev threads and youll find it within the first few pages
Also andisa (probably butchered his name too) made a great ICS theamed version of ezgingerbread that all includes some additional tweeks, I don't believe he ever created an xda thread but I can find you the link if your interested

DREAMWAVE sorry for the late reply, here is the complete link for that rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568486
Just want to ask what was the things you did to make G1 still great even with live wallpapers under the gingerbread version?? heheh,,,thanks in advance,,,
what I did to speed it up was remove some apps that were running in the background, such as dialer, which was taking up a solid 7mb of ram all the time. I now have a pretty consistent 42mb of ram while at my launcher, adw ex. While it won't beat any phone at a benchmark, it will run quite smoothly while flipping between launcher pages. Try using swap and a task killer, I am using smart ram booster and have the widget situated over the clock on the statusbar for whenever I want a quick boost in speed.
