OK so I flashed el26 kernel over stock el26. I go into recovery and how do I use it? Like the power button doesn't do anything but I can use the home key to select but how do I go back? There's no option on the menus and the go back button won't work in the recovery.HELP Pleaase

Should I just run a wipe all zip and then flash the rest?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
To get the power button to work press volume up down up
You can use the zip but you can just wipe data cache and dalvik-cache then flash whatever.
Also can I just flash the kernel on a JB ROM via Mobile Odin

No. If you're running jb, you have to use that kernel to continue to use jb.
Only flash the el26 on jb when changing roms.

Hey dvtmg, which root method did you use? Most likely, you have the stock android recovery which will not allow you to do a nandroid backup, or flash roms. You will need a custom recovery (CWM, Rogue, ACS) to begin either of those processes.

If you run auto root I think it's option 3 to add cwm. Not sure though but check it out.

Yes option 3 is for installing CWM only. As far as a rom I would recommend calk's it will give you the features you are looking for.
Thanks

Does anyone know of a video of how to flash an ics ROM coming from gingerbread EL29.

You'll find it here http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6B97247164921053&feature=plcp
Search for what ICS ROM you want to flash and it'll most likely be there.

I haven't used Mobile Odin before, but that should be correct, since EL26 Kernel comes with CWM (if that's the one you download and not the Stock one).

This is correct. Keep that kernel as it is the safest kernel to flash ICS ROMs.

I am on stock ff18 and I was just wondering if I could just replace the kernel to another without having any issues also if I flashed a new kernel would I still want to make a back up of everything?
Sent from my SPH-D710
Yes. Use mobile Odin or Odin and flash agat63's kernel. Its safe to flash from ICS to ICS
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I have agats recovery is it still safe to flash from GB to ics?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You mean ICS to ics. GB to ICS use stock el29 direct boot kernel. Easiest way.

I'd just make a cwm backup of your stock rom. Then go back and fourth. Its what I do without any issues at all. I just have to clear my play store data as I have market problems after but that's it.

When you restore from the nandroid backup you'll get the kernel you had before. So you'll have the stock kernel again when you restore

Just had a thought. It's easy to get stuck on boot when you flash back to stock without wiping.
If you can wipe it/factory reset that could solve you're problem.
And it'll boot up.
It's confusing cause it looks a lot like your phone not booting cause of the kernel
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Yeah just take the battery out and get into android recovery by pressing volume up, power, and home button. Then wipe/factory reset and reboot system.
^^^^ just like the gentleman said. Reboot into recovery and factory reset it. It should boot up after that.

Recovery isn't there, any way I could do it from adb?

If you can get into download mode, reflash the stock tar in Odin again or just flash the cwm or trwp recovery tar and reflash a different kernel
Sent from my SGH-T999
Here is a link to Odin-able recoveries that you can use. I also agree with the others that this is probably a mismatched ROM/Kernel that is preventing you from booting up. The only problem I foresee is that you Odin'd a stock image, so now you are not on CM10 anymore. Now you'll have to find a TW kernel that you can flash, like Morfic's or I think Ktoonez has one too. But you can ADB push the kernel to your SDcard so that when you flash the recovery above, you should be able to then go in and find your kernel and flash that.
What I suggest first is to Odin one of the recoveries (TWRP is what I use) and then once that is done, go in and Factory Reset and try to boot it up. If it works, great. If not, then you may need to move on to pushing a kernel and flashing that.
Volume up + Home + Power takes you to Recovery.
Have you tried that?
