Hi there,
This is the first time i own a Samsung phone and i am having some trouble using the KIES to sync with my outlook - contacts in particular.
I had no problem with my 1st sync, everything was sync to my note 2 with no errors.
but then after a week or so, when i am doing my 2nd sync, it now gets stuck at 'preparing to sync note2 contact.. 0%' task, screenshot below.
and it wont get past this stage and the 0% never progressed even after 30min+.
In fact, KIES actually freezes/hanged...
any solutions to this?

Anyway, i reverted to myphoneexplorer which works perfectly now..
except it wont sync contact photos as always.
Anyone any suggestions to make outlook contact sync perfect without problems??
Major Headache
I too had your same problem and spent days trying to resolve it. My problem was related to Kies wanting to take control of everything before it could start. My Note 2 and Kies are now syncing, so I hope this helps . I'm using Windows 7.
Go into outlook and turn off all add-ins you are using. This is specific to each outlook - so google your version if you dont know how to do this
Exit out of outlook and I rebooted windows - just to make sure nothing was weird about the add-ins.
Turn off all anti-virus, firewall, malware checker etc. This is temporary but suggest you do this from a safe network.
Start Kies in administrator mode (right click on icon and select "run as administrator")
It will take awhile for Kies to load, but once it starts up - it will ask you to select the outlook profile and hit OK.
Wait a bit and eventually the Kies main screen will show up (like the one you are showing)
I then selected only 1 item (contacts or to-do or calendar) and pressed sync. It usually started syncing within 1 minute, so you should know fairly quickly if this works for you.
Once you are done syncing - you must release Outlook, as it is locked by Kies. The easiest way is to click on the system tray at the bottom of your screen and you should see Outlook symbol with a lock on it. Right click the outlook icon and select exit now.
If it works - then you will have to add Kies and Kies agent into your respective anti-virus, firewall as an exception. Or you can just turn it all off when you want to sync Kies.
The key for me was doing all the above in the sequence. But your configuration may be different.
Good luck.
Yeahh, I have the same issue here. But it's not possible to solve with your tipps.

Hi Everyone,
I just noticed this recently when trying to upload a picture from the gallery to Picasa - the folder list is blank, clicking it or the new folder button does nothing (screenshot below)

"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've used it in the past so I'm not sure what changed - also working fine on my T Prime, and, all of the folders are visible in the gallery itself, just not the upload screen.
What I've tried so far that hasn't worked:
1) rebooting phone
2) disabling then enabling photo syncing in accounts and sync
3) clearing gallery and media storage data
4) multiple combinations of the items listed above
Anyone else have this issue? Or know how to fix it? ( I'm running stock ICS )
Thank you,
Kelly

I'm not sure if you're still looking for a solution to this problem or not, but I'm having the same issue now and stumbled across this thread in the Google forums:
hxxp://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/mobile/android-devices/kW1D7jt-DMw (replace xx with tt, since I don't have URL posting rights)
Long story short, the problem appears to happen when you have any accounts on your phone (under the "Accounts and Sync" menu) that use the same email address as the one Picasa is trying to use as your Google account.
For example, if your Google account for your phone is "[email protected]" and you also use "[email protected]" as your Dropbox/Linkedin/Facebook account, Picasa upload will break in the way you described and showed in your image above.
If you remove all accounts that use that primary Gmail address and only leave your Google account, the problem goes away. I sent a message to Paul Wilcox on G+ to hopefully address the issue, but it looks like the only way to fix it is via the workaround I mentioned above.
I'll update here if I hear any news about it.

Glad to know I am not the only one with this issue - not going to remove my other accounts because I want them to sync. Been using PicasaTool in the interim until they fix the issue (hopefully with 4.0.4/5)
Also, I added "me too", and a note about it to the google thread you found, thanks!
i searched the whole thread and noticed 2 posts with similar comments and said they went to a 3rd party app. well how come i cant use outlook.com like i did with my gs4? also, does everyone have this problem? any suggestions? email app is up to date, tried exchange and outlook.com and used the settings from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/outlook/to-go at the bottom. no go. pain in the ass when my contacts sit in outlook and i use the calendar as well. im not trying to import to gmail either. thanks.
I have hotmail working with default settings. Contact their playstore email, they respond fairly quick.

Three are lots of good alternative email apps. A few to look at are Cloud Magic, TypeMail, and Mailwise. I. Have tried all three of these with my corporate Exchange account and they work fine.

thanks, i reached out to them.
figured it out, it's because of 2 step authentication. since asus is not using the "new" login method for Microsoft, it doesn't try at all to attempt 2 step authentication so it fails. disable 2 step in security and app works now. add 2 step back and app still works.
If you use Google Keyboard you might find that the the sync is greyed out under Languages & Keyboard - Google Keyboard - Accounts & Privacy. To fix this you need to go one page back and click on Text Correction and scroll down and make sure Suggest Contact Names is on. Go back to Accounts and Privacy and sync should be turned on.
Also synchronization is greyed out for Google Apps users no matter what you do.
Whereabouts is this in settings?

Suggest Contact names is on but it's still greyed out. I have two business accounts but even when I deleted them and leave my personal account and reboot phone I get same situation[emoji37]

Same here. I tried adding Google Keyboard via Management Console but it still doesn't work. Did you find a solution?
This worked for me thanks
For Samsung devices with latest Secure Folder, Google Keyboard dictionary sync gives a false error about having a "Work account". The only solution is to uninstall Secure Folder = unacceptable.
Please leave Google feedback about this on the play store reviews and via Feedback from within the keyboard settings menu.

Was this solved in meanwhile?
I still have the same issue on Samsung Galaxy A5.
Cannot sync learned words accros devices
I disabled secure folder but still the same issue.
Uninstalling it (from the app settings menu) does not remove everything related to secure folder. It just uninstalls the secure folder setup you did.

Hi,
I may be crazy but when I try to add my Facebook account to the stock Calendar, it's just missing. I do have the facebook app installed and it does show up under Accounts & Sync, under phone settings. I've attached screenshots of both screens. Am I missing something painfully obvious?
Thanks!
Here's the Calendar add accounts screen

I'm not sure if you can add Facebook as a calendar directly like that. However, you can just add get Facebook to sync events with your Google calendar instead..nearly as good: http://www.technipages.com/add-facebook-events-to-google-calendar

Thanks. That's really useful if I want to specific events, but I'd rather something more automated, hence trying to add the account to my calendar.
Sunrise did/does it very well, but is no longer supported so I'm trying to move over to a new calendar system.
Found these instructions online. I thought someone else mind find them useful.
Go to facebook Events.
On right-hand side, under Events Happening This Week, there is a box that says:
"You can add your events to Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar. Once you add them, they'll stay updated. Learn More.
Upcoming Events · Birthdays"
Right click on Upcoming Events and open it in a new window. (I tried just right clicking the link to copy, didn't work, so did it in a new window - really the only difference from the above instructions).
Copy the link address.
Go to Google Calendar (this part is just like what they said above in other answers).
Next to Other Calendars, hit the drop-down arrow.
Click on Add by URL.
Paste the link from the new window you had opened.

I use outlook.com for my emails, phone book etc. Everything was fine with my contacts on my phone, I had all the small avatars for myself and all my contacts. I've got a big problem since MS updated me to their new style Outlook.com.
All my contacts Avatars have gone and I seem to have every contact in my phone from Facebook even though I have only chosen 'Outlook' in the settings. More annoyingly I have about 300 'Unnamed' contacts appear in my contacts and none of them have any info inside. I have deleted my account on the phone and resynced and it is still the same?
Has anyone come across this and any ideas how I can get my original properly synced settings back?
I have about 300 of these empty names now,

Did you already check in Settings > Apps > Outlook if all permissions are granted. If not, delete your Outlook account, set all permissions, re-add your account.

I'm using the outlook that is in the accounts settings and not the Outlook app itself. I've got my mail,calendar and phone numbers synchronised.
Maybe I'll install the App and give it a go that way and chose that setting in the phone app to see if that sorts it.

If you guys want to know some good email apps the type mail app works great so does blue mail I use both and they rock. They have like a 4.6 or 4.7 rating not many apps get praises like that. Just thought I would mention that as I think the outlook app has a lot to be desired.

Thanks for that but it's not the email I have problems with it's the Outlook account sync problems that give me hundreds of false empty entries in my people phone book when I sync to Outlook.com. They are obviously not in there so I don't know where they are coming from. It has only happened since MS updated me to their new Outlook.com style of page.
Oh I had that issue on Tuesday with the outlook servers using Thunderbird email software I had to force close a couple times now seems to be fine all day Wednesday yesterday and still going fine.
