[Q] I bricked my phone flashing Endeavor CM10 ROM - HTC One X

I need help. I thought I knew what I was doing, as I had flashed roms on my old Evo 4G, but since I switched to the One X, I blew it. I had 2.20 firmware, so when I found out about the root method for that I was stoked. I rooted it using the all-in-one toolkit that was posted last week, and it was all good. I decided to try and flash a new rom, so first I tried RebelRom, but I got stuck in a bootloop. I was able to get to recovery (TWRP) and put the zip folder for the Endeavor CM10 rom on there. I flashed it, and it looked like it took that just fine. I wiped the caches and went to reboot it, but it hasn't turned back on since. That was over an hour ago. It won't boot into recovery or bootloader, and it won't even charge as far as I can tell. The notification light doesn't come on when I plug it into the wall or my computer. I'm stuck, and I really don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?

you have htc one xl. this is for international version.

Try fastboot OEM lock? Or is device even recognized by ur computer?...I ****ed mine up too but did the lock n found the 2.20 ruu online and downloaded after relocking bootloader....it is diff flashing roms on the hox. Me myself keep gettin stuck in cm10 and 9 boot loops? I even flash boot.img....I'm lost on this part tho n could use help myself....

2.20 firmware?
Kindly provide more info, like where your phone from? carrier?
FYI, we don't have 2.20 version.
You most probably having a One XL not One X..
And if true, you had flash wrong things.
The situation is severe may be hard brick.

@HebeGuess: I have an AT&T One X in America. It's not the international version. If this is in the wrong forum, I can try posting this elsewhere.
@teambeck: My computer doesn't recognize it. It chirps at first like it does, but then it beeps at me and doesn't show up anywhere.

i have had the same problem ive try to mount usb storage on clockwork mod its saying unable to ums lnfile (no such file or directory) please help p.s its unlocked though htcdev

Go to device manager and check and see if there are any yellow astericks by ur Android our HTC device.... Try to update drivers if that device is fine on device manager.... Do u have HTC program... Can't remember name... Comes with phone when first plugged in¿

[Q] G2 stuck at HTC screen.

Hey guys, I tried to perma root my wife's G2 last night using Visionary+ r14 but when it tried to reboot it doesn't get past the green and white "HTC" screen, so now I have a couple of questions.
I bought this phone from someone off of Craigslist and it was working great until I tried to root it so it is technically out of warranty do you think I can get it replaced since everything is still stock?
Also I tried to apply the HTC OTA update to fix it and I still have the problem, is there anything I can do to repair this phone? Thanks in advance guys and mahalo!
Okay pull your battery out and put it back in..after dat press power button and volume down button until you get to the recovery screen and do a factory reset..
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Thanks for the reply jboiii15. I did a factory reset before I flashed the OTA update and I have factory reset several times but still no go. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

I haven't tried it because I can't get ADB to work with the phone the way it is, Fastboot works but ADB just shows nothing there while I'm in recovery or the boot screen. Thank you also for the reply. My wife is pissed lol.
Try to extract the ROM from the official RUU and rename it to PC10IMG.zip. Put this on the root of your SD card and boot into bootloader and leave it to work. This should solve your problem Fingers Crossed
JD
do you have s-off??
I don't have S-OFF as I just started the rooting procedure when it decided to take a dump on me, after this I don't think my wife will want me to root any more of her phones although I know she'll miss it after having a rooted G1 running CM and a rooted Slide running Chromatic. Good thing I didn't sell her Slide yet lol.
I'll try to find information on the PC10IMG.zip method now and see what can be done.
Thank you guys for all the help, I really appreciate it all.

I think the rooting process has corrupted your kernel or rom, it is rare to get a brick from just the visionary process, but i know there has at least been one that this has happened to.
Report back to tell us if the extracted ROM worked for you, there is still hope;')
JD
Oh man this is just getting worse lol. I had the phone sitting here plugged into my laptop while the phone was in the Hboot screen where you can select Fastboot, Recovery and so on. All of a sudden my here Windows give off the noise as if something was connected or disconnected from my computer and I see the screen shut off on the G2 with a red light blinking. Now the phone doesn't power on and the red light blinks while the phone is plugged into the computer but doesn't power on.
As I was typing this the red light came on solid as if it is charging now, maybe it doesn't charge while in that screen and the battery just died I dunno, strange.

Well I called T-Mobile and they are sending out a new phone, I'm unsure if I should still mess with it or not. I did flash the TMOUSA OTA update and that didn't help, I didn't unpack it to see if it contained a new Kernel but I'm sure it had a new system.img, still think it is one of those that is messed up?
I'm having a hard time finding the things to get the PC10IMG.zip going, work is calling me in different directions and my A.D.D is kicking in lol.
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764 i had the same problem like you, steviewevie told me to do it, if you have problem to connect your g2 with sdk download pda net, it works for me and now i have my g2 back with the new root... just do what it said on that link believe me works...
P.D. I am a androidnoober always have a iphone and this was my first time using sdk adb or whatever name is and I did it
Thanks AndroidNoober, I've seen that link in my search for an answer to my problem. One of the issues that is making this harder is that after the phone "bricked" it lost ADB connectivity. I've tried it on two computers that have a properly working ADB (I test it with my N1 and 3G Slide) and it used to work with the G2 but now I can't get it to see the phone, I've heard Recovery has ADB blocked.
semi bricked attempting permaroot
i attempted permaroot and semi bricked my phone. will not boot past htc screen. i can't get adb to work. i am trying to get pdanet installed but it keeps getting stuck on installing on phone. can it install while phone is in recovery mode? i have had no sucess trying to figure this out on my own and phone is not covered with a warranty
i have gotten the phone to read an update.zip file.
it is reading the pc10img.zip as well.
now i just have to get past the htc screen.
i do have s-on as i had just started the process.
any help would be appreciated

[Q] Incredible Was Rooted, Flashed Lou#9, Now 5 Vibrations

I just got my Incredible a week ago and had it rooted using the latest version of Unrevoked. I had it flashed with Incredibly Re-Engineered v2.3 and everything was going perfectly..... until a few minutes ago when I tried to flash HeyItsLou #9. When the device boots it vibrates 5 times, powers off and has a flashing green light, and won't do anything after that until I do a battery pull. I can only get to HBoot which is now S-ON and can access ClockworkMod recovery but can't access the SDcard because the system can't find it. So I can't do a nandroid backup. I've also tried flashing new baseband images but they don't seem to do anything.
I've read around that this is indicative of a hardware failure, but was wondering if someone else has any idea about this.
When I plug it into my computer running windows 7 x64 it asks for the Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM driver which I can't seem to find one that will work.
I have about a years experience with rooting the original droid so I'm well versed in disaster recovery and I'm a big linux/pc geek so throw what ever ideas you have at me.
Try this
-From bootloader boot into recovey and restore your latest nandroid
-if you somehow trased your recovery: from fastboot flash another recovery then once booted into recovery flash a new rom
hope this helps...
Nandroids won't work since I can't access the SDcard. I have a refurbished unit coming tomorrow, I just need to get CWM off but the problem is the phone is S-ON.
Try the factory reset option in HBoot?
Happened to me. Since it seems to only happen to people rooted (cant find one person not rooted that had it happen) you would think it wasn't hardware. A lot of people seemed to have it happen right after flashing something.
Oh btw, plug it in your usb port while powering on the phone, it will boot.

I saw one case where the person said they weren't rooted. Plugging it in would allow me to boot to CWM but wouldn't allow me to boot the rom.

[Q] phone bricked? can only boot to fastboot. recovery reboots with 7 vibrations

i ask as i updated my radio last night for the 1st time in aaages and the phone turns on etc as you'd expect. since then though (this morning) i've had random reboots. i've got recovery images of different roms and both do the same.
i tried a clean install of a new rom and it reboots while installing, i try to install again and this time it gets to the "press on the droid" option when it reboots again.

Weird..did u try flashing a different radio?
not yet. in work for a while longer. the only other thing i can see it being, is the kernels in the rom i'm using now, using too little voltage.
might try flashing a different kernel
I have had this problem before & as has been suggested a different radio did solve the problem. Hope it turns out something as simple for you.
As a last resort try wiping and flashing an RUU, that will replace the kernel, radio and rom
yea, had a thought on doing that too. grabbed 2 of em (not sure which i need) but today it's not rebooting
ok, somethings gone real wrong now. cant do anything more than go into fastboot. recovery causes a reboot with 7 vibrations on the boot screen and it wont go past it. i can go into fastboot/fastboot usb and that's it.
how do you flash a ruu now? i found a guide but it refers to downloading .zip images and putting em on an sdcard? i could only see .exe ruus
Just run the ruu exe while your phone is connected in fastboot. Do you have the ruu that was originally on the phone?

trying it now. got the ruu downloaded. tried it before but got some funky errors
phones doing some funky stuff at the mo. if this works (i hope) then i can use unrevoked and then alpharev to get root/s-off later again yea?
ta mate
Yeah, you can do that.

worked. now booted up. wonder what the hell happened though!
Dunno but I guess you're relieved

i am, but tried 2 pcs and my netbook, installed usb drivers off their site but just cant get unrevoked working for my desire.
off to try the old goldcard method
odd, even the goldcard tool didnt work. did a year or so ago when i 1st rooted. had to go old school on this thing.
edit
and after several tries, alpharev doesnt work
cant make the phone reboot when it needs to. worked last time with opendesire with no probs at all. no joy with oxygen though, or the default sense rom
ok, thanks to the forum, i've got opendesire installed now and i think somethings up. after an install (clean) it locked. hard. 3 finger salute didn't reboot the phone and had to pull the batt out (other roms caused reboots instead). i decided to take the sim out - and nothing. no more locks/reboots at all.
i'm gonna try the sim in another phone tonight and see what happens.
something very off with this phone.

I had this problem after I flashed a radio. I ended up sending it back to O2 due to a corrupt radio/cpu stack on the actual device.

[Solved] Bricked HTC One X (International)

Hi guys, well I'm a new HTC One X owner and I just jumped ship from the iPhone. I had jailbroken my iPhone several times with only minor problems in the past so I thought I'd give it a try on the One X. Unfortunately, I think I've really screwed something up and now when i boot it up, it vibrates and then hangs at the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen. So here's what I did:
I downloaded Hasoon2000's HTC One X All-In-One v.1.1 kit. I followed the instructions and as far as I could tell, everything worked fine. The bootloader was unlocked and I was able to root the phone. However, after installing a couple of apps which all crashed when I tried to run them (it made the phone restart), I decided to do a factory reset and do it again. So i held onto the power button + volume down and went into the Bootloader and tried to reset it which then took me to the CWM 5.8.4.0 screen. I then did the factory reset there which led me to where I am now.
Could someone please tell me where to proceed from here to bring it back up and running normally again? As you can probably tell, I know next to nothing about Android so I would really appreciate some patience and step by steps. I've already scoured Google looking for a solution but I could never understand what people were talking about. If you need any more information to give you a better diagnosis, please let me know and maybe tell me how to find the information
Thanks a lot people, any help would be much appreciated!

Sorry, I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not sure exactly what you mean. By that, do you mean did I install a non-stock OS? If so, then the answer would be no. I did flash the recovery with CWM 5.8.4.0 but I have a feeling that, that's not what you meant.

Thanks a lot man! Could you...please tell me how to do that? I saw a few threads discussing soft-bricks and they suggested downloading some stuff and then plugging the phone into the PC and typing some commands into cmd. But when I connect my phone into my PC i get no response, even when I'm in the Bootloader screen.
And also, does it matter which version of the official firmware i get? I saw people mentioned RUU files but it had to match my phone's version. Does this have anything to do with that?
I believe you should just plug the phone and run your factory ruu and that would do it and bring the phone back to stock.
Heres where u can get the ruu, am not sure whats the codename for the international hox but i think this is it. Please make sure you are using the correct ruu for your phone.

You should probably read up before trying this again. If you can hold the power button and volume down. It should bring you into a menu. You should press the volume down button until fast boot is highlighted and then press the power button to select it. Download htc sync and install the drivers. Go to the one x development section and download the ruu for your device. Then run the ruu.

Thanks a lot for the responses guys. That link you gave me says that they are ROMs for Endeavor, is that the same as a ruu? And also, how do i figure out which ruu is right for me? I'm in Switzerland and my carrier is Orange but I see several ruus there under orange but none of them are for Switzerland and there are even different version numbers. In my current state, is there a way for me to find out which version I need?
By the way, when I try to connect my phone to my PC in fastboot mode and open cmd prompt and type in "fastboot getvar cid", i get "'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." If i click Fastboot on my phone and then HBOOT whilst plugged into the PC, i get a few lines on my phone saying that it "Failed to open USB master mode" and then "please plug off USB".

okay, I didn't realise I had to install fastboot on my PC. So i just configured it following the directions here: http://dottech.org/tipsntricks/2153...ows-computer-for-use-with-your-android-phone/
and now when my phone is hooked up to my PC and i type "fastboot getvar cid" into cmd prompt, i get this:
cid: None
finished. total time: 0.004s
So what does this mean?
Download an app from the marketplace and see what that comes up with. Also go into settings about phone software information then software number. What is the software number?

You are going to need to find out wich ruu version u need. I dont know how carriers identify themselves on europe. After you identify it get into the bootloader menu get on fastboot and the open the ruu you downloaded the software should do everything by itself. Btw if you do this your going back to stock that means no root no cwm or wtever you had your going to have to do everything again but at least you got the phone working. Once you identify the ruu you need i would not download the latest version just in case the carrier fixed the root method or something. Again i dont know much about how europe works and how bossy carriers are about rooting/unlocking bootloader. You can try asking on that same thread for the one you need. Someone elsr might have an answer. Good luck.
Ps. Am not sure if you are going to need to relock the bootloader in order for the ruu to run. Can someone shed some light on this?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
Btw before you do that have you tried getting on the recovery??? Can you get on cwm?? If u can do that i believe there no need to flash the ruu instead just flash a different rom maybe??? Did you get to make a backup before this happened??

Well the thing is, I'm not 100% sure what I did. First I did a factory reset on CWM and everything worked fine, but when my phone rebooted, I realised CWM was still there. What i wanted was to go back to square one, as in no recovery and no root. So i went back into recovery and wiped some other stuff, and that's when this happened. I know, I'm a total idiot, I don't know what i was thinking
Yea a different rom to what you had maybe that one had problems. ARHD is Android Revolution HD any other rom would work though. Just pick one from the development section.

Well i just took a look at the ARHD thread and I'm stuck on the second line of instructions: "Download "Super Wipe" script & place it on your SD card (optionally if coming from earlier version of my ROM, obligatory if coming from stock or other custom ROM)"
I have no access to my SD card, when i plug it into my PC, nothing happens because all i can do is go into recovery and bootloader.
Just a question, if I try to use the wrong ruu, what would happen?

OTA update leads to HTC logo stuck

Phone was above 65% and wifi connection was proper that time. I don't know what went wrong?
I Google regarding this and searched in xda also, for same, but i didn't find anything helping.

This is the second case so far I came across that has issues with updating OTA on HTC desire 816. May I please ask whether it was rooted and xposed module installed ? If not, the only way is to look for a custom rom or else, install the custom recovery (if your brother can manage to boot into fastboot mode) and restore from the cwm backups floating around in xda. @jithumon has the indian backed up version, which will allow you to get your phone back alive, if not already is.

Yeah! he was able to go to fast boot mod by pressing volum and power botton. He also managed to hard reset. But no luck. Fiinally he returned the phone to ebay. He will be gettiing his phone by 5th september (hopfully). The thing is phone is almost new (~1 month old). So neither he noe I wanted to take chance.
