Hello everybody...
I recently purchased my gt-n7100 and when i try to transfer files via usb cable, they get corrupted suddenly
like when i transfer music, all the music files in the music player are either corrupted or play 2-3 sec and then stop
not only that but also i tried copying archives and they are getting damaged too
i changed my usb cable (did not work too)
and yeah when i send files via bluetooth, they are OK...
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE
Copying from both pc to device and from device to pc will corrupt the files, or only just from one direction it fails?

No it only gets corrupted when i put it on my phone, the other way is fine.....
Try to uninstall kies, download latest version and install it again, change ur usb port, use main usb ports (rear ports in pc), try to copy using kies file manager, also try to copy files using kiesAir file manager, that should solve your problem or at least u will figure out where the problem is..

Did you try setting phone to the PTP mode which is like a camera just to transfer files? You could rename a tar to jpg

Are you using the factory cable? I was using a cheap Micousb and it wouldnt work. Pulled out the original plugged it in and connected to Kies instantly.

It should automatically prompt you to view internal and external sd cards on your pc. Are you rooted?

i have this problem on XP sometimes too, even with the drivers installed.
Try changing it from MTP to PTP. Let the computer find it again, then switch it back to MTP. Works for me every time

hi chrisram... it doesnt prompt me for anything. i installed the snapdragon toolkit. i got xp and when i go into windows explorer, i see files on the phone, but not on the sd card. i tried also to install samsung driver 1.4.6.0 and i get a "MTP was not installed" error. and on the phone i get a pop up saying that i need windows media player 10 or higher, which i have installed.
and to answer your question, i am not rooted. DO I HAVE TO BE ROOTED TO VIEW FILES ON THE SD CARD ON MY PC VIA USB? please help because i'm on the verge on stomping on this galaxy s3. thanks,
You don't need root to view files in your phone. Did you put an SD card in there?

i seriously dont want to use airdroid.. i need to move heavy files and i dont want to spend years by my PC waiting for my phone to finish transferring files over the air.. i want to be able to see my sd card via usb.
thanks for the encouragement.. i know i'll get a solution with your help..
Fair enough. What if you do install windows media player 11 and see what that does?
Sent from my SGH-T999
Um the sdcard can only write at about say max 80Mbps sustained. WLAN will be fast enough at 40.. what is USB2.0?
Anyways if you are putting lots of files, leave them on external, and don't have to worry about copying again. No good reason to have then on sdcard vs external.
You can just copy to ext then use any file mgr program to copy it using the phone.

I use N so it's 100mbps and fast enough to not notice any difference. I'm guessing your problem is that XP is old as F. A simple solution is to just plug the sd card into your computer. But as it was pointed out the sd card is slower than wifi so it really doesn't matter.
Oh and I'd just like to point out you could have moved the files 10000 times by now. With airdroid you can move around the house while files are transferring. So you can relax and still use the phone instead of being tethered to the computer. And if you have splashtop you'd never even have to touch your PC.
Put Linux on a flash drive and use that?
so i pluged in my device and when instalation wizard poped up i closed it. now when i conect my device it only show windows media player, winawp and take no action. i need to open phone folder to copy some songs n stuff. whats the problem and how can i solve it?

Anyone.....?
have you tried deleting all the old drivers and install new driver?
I odined back to stock. But still nothing. I can delete but not copy or move. .
might not be your phone.....could be the drivers on your computer. Can you use a different computer to see if the problem continues? If it does, its your phone. if it doesn't, its your computer.

cant try till tomorrow at work. . Which drivers do I uninstall and try to reinstall?
First you need to figure out if the problem is the sdcard or the phone. Try using a different sdcard or a different computer.
In regards to drivers, goto http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682 and download the S3 toolkit.
I attached a program to help uninstall the old drivers for your computer. Install the program and look for Vendor ID "18d1" or..."04e8" and uninstall the drivers.
With the S3 toolkit, you can then install the correct drivers associated to your device.
hope that helps.
It's my laptop. Can copy on another laptop

uninstalled from that program, reinstalled from the tool kit, and still the same problem
It just started working again. Thanks for the help.
your welcome.....:cyclops:
I've been searching since yesterday since and have yet to see this issue. I flashed a ROM yesterday and now I can't copy to SD or internal. I don't even remember which ROM caused it I restored my backup before that happened and still can't copy. I can download a ROM on the phone and install it I just can't copy anything when connected to a PC. I've tried on Win7 and Win8 with no luck. I've formatted SD, tried a different cable, uninstalled/re-installed drivers and USB debugging is selected. I can copy from the phone to the computer but not from computer to phone. The only thing I can think of is flash back to stock and re-root and see if that fixes it.
This is the error I get when attempting to copy
The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected

or you can also try different usb ports and if that doesn't work try running all the same troubleshooting steps on a different pc and see if there's any difference.

Try using the drivers from my signature on your Win7 machine.
Thanks for the suggestions :highfive:
I seem to have fixed it. I used the Samsung Galaxy S3 toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682)
and just did the root option (even though it was rooted already) and after that I was able to copy again There are still a couple of ROM zip files I couldn't copy so I am assuming that the files may be corrupted or something. I haven't been able to re-download them again to test out that theory though.
Since yesterday I am a proud owner of a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE and trying a lot to configure.
But it is not so easy as I'm used to it from my S2.
1 How do I get a USB connection with my PC
2 How can I make a backup
3 Where can I get the official software for the emergency
4. sd 128GB exfat or fat32 ??
With my S2 I use NeatRom 8.0 and the Dorimanx kernel.
Can anyone recommend me a Rom and Kernel ??
Regards
Klaus
1. It should just connect, although you may need drivers depending on system
3. You can find them on sammobile or Samsung Firmware websites (google)
4. Exfat, if your planning on housing files larger then 4gb (ie BluRay rips)

In Explorer I can see the phone under removable media but the tablet only under portable devices.
Do you have any idea how can I bring the tablet to the removable media and to the file Manager.
