I don't know if there was already a thread about this, but I searched and didn't find anything.
So my USB port on my cappy is busted, so I had to buy this. I just got it today, but was disappointed to find out that it only charges the battery included (which I believe is a fascinate battery), and I can't use the other 2 batteries I have. The fascinate battery works fine, but I'd rather have 2 batteries to use for a backup. Could someone explain to me why it doesn't charge my cappy/i9000 batteries or any solution?
Edit: Also, nobody else seems to have this problem from reading the reviews.
Well the first thing that comes to mind for me is, are you sure the usb on your phone is busted? Maybe the problem is your original battery has stopped taking a charge. You said busted but I don't know if you mean physically as in you can no longer stick your wire in it, or just when you plug it in the battery does not get charged.
Busted isn't a concise enough description of the problem for me to be able to give a better answer.
I use the oem spare battery charger/stand and i love it.. Might want to try that if you dont get a repair or warranty done

Lol sorry, my usb port will not charge or sync at all. I also JUST ordered another battery, so unless my old battery stopped charging right when my usb port broke, and the new one I got was broken, I don't think it's a problem with the batteries. I just don't know why it would charge the fascinate battery and not my 2 cappy batteries.

I just found myself in the same position as of two days ago (damned questionable design for the way the cappy's USB port is set and secured). Did you ever find out if there was a reason why you couldn't charge the batteries that originally came with the phone?
FYI: My timing for the 1 year warranty was awful in that it expired 19 days ago. As for insurance repair/replacement, I wasn't looking at replacing my cappy for approximately $125. So, after looking at doing a Walmart/Target deal, and then finding out they are still charging for tax, when it came down to costs I went with the external charger and replacement battery option after a lot of reading on the web, amazon, and then eventually to the posts on this topic....

Nah, I'm still using the one battery. Sort of a hassle (I can't use my phone as an alarm since I charge it overnight) but I guess I'm happy that I can at least use the phone. I'm still waiting for someone to offer a cheap repair though. It sucks not being able to put anything on my internal sd and having to use the ota miui updates, but it's better than nothing.

Wifi Explorer from the market is great for transferring files to and from the phone using a wifi network since USB is not an option for you.

IIRC the Fascinated battery won't charge in a Captivate and vice versa. They have different part numbers. I'm not sure of the techincal details but it has something to do with the different currents the two phones charge at.

Well that's a bit irritating. I guess then shouldn't have been advertising it as a charger for all phones, then.
I could probably do the repair work if pointed to the correct part necessary to replace the broken USB port. I fear one of these days my Captivate will suffer the same fate.
My qualifications: I do a lot of fine SMD/SMT reworking by hand. Mainly video game consoles and other consumer electronic goods. I have reputation/feedback on other forums as well as eBay if desired.

And it won't charge any of my batteries (2 OEMs and 1 that comes with the phone)
Now it sits there as a glorified dock.

I am usually on the go and have had problems with my vibrant dying on me. I would like to buy a spare battery and wall charger which are both efficient/quality and affordable. I use my phone extensively when I travel and it acts, almost, as a life line for me. Please advise with information on potential solution.
Thanks.
P.S. This question may have been asked before but can someone provide updated info/links.
Heres the wall charger I use - http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Battery...ccessories&hash=item4aadd9fa50#ht_4889wt_1313
not sure about the battery because i paid a little more for the 1650mah one
this battery comes with a 3 year warranty - http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-BATTERY...ccessories&hash=item231427e052#ht_1381wt_1313
I bought an OEM spare battery with charging box on Amazon for about $25 six months ago. Maybe it would be cheaper now?

Awsome 3500 MA Replacement Battery With cover
Hey Brother, I run a Largecar for a living, and I use my phone more than anybody else I know of, including, navigation and as a speedometer!
This battery's worked out really well, and its incredibly priced right!!
The cover works perfect on my T-959 Vibrant even though its advertised for an I9000 which essentially are the same phones!!
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180683430970?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Oh and BTW one more thing, when you go to Modding/flashing your phone, don't use this battery, take it out and use the OEM Samsung one, because its lacking some signature or code internally, and I found out the hard way, it wont allow ODIN or CWM to function right!! ODIN fails to pass until I swap to the OEM, and CWM wasn't acting right as well
Hope it works for you, It sure has for me!!
Hey guys,
After having my Galaxy Nexus for little over a week, the battery is starting to worry me. I don't think the battery would ever last me one full day with heavy usage and I was wondering, do you guys know of a website or a retailer that sells an extended battery/extra battery or on the go charger for the Galaxy Nexus? I'm probably going out for the holidays and I don't want the battery to die on me.
I am using the GSM variant of the Galaxy Nexus from Bell on Android Revolution HD (though I did notice the same battery life on the stock rom :/)
Also, on a side note, does anyone have a good site to get a USB otg adapter or a MHL-HDMI cable/adapter for a good price?
Note: I'd prefer not buying from Ebay, as I have had bad experiences in the past. Something like Amazon would be preferred.
Thanks,
Mosh

if your using the gsm gnex i would get the gnex carcharger from vzw, it charges the phone really fast(like the home charger) until you can find a gsm extended battery online or something
I'd go nuts having to constantly swap out my batteries to charge them at the end of the day. Get the charger.
Monoprice is a good place for cables. Power sources though are kind of meh.

I've got a spare battery and the factory stand that can charge the extra battery without it being in the phone on order. Not sure when they'll reach my shores but apparently "not too far away". I'm sure you could find a supplier where ever you are. IMO they were reasonably priced for genuine accessories
Thanks for the replies guys! I don't think I can get a charger from Verizon and it would probably be expensive. Oh, and just to confirm, by charger you mean on the go (without an outlet)?
EDIT: Also, do you guys know of any good websites in Canada?
EDIT2: Amazon is preferable!

Did you order from Verizon? Or from the link posted above?
I ordered directly from verizon, get free 2 day shipping as well. Its a actual bigger battery with new backplate to fit it directly onto the phone, so other then that you don't really even know you have the extended battery. I will know once it comes it how much bigger it makes the phone but I've heard its pretty minimal on the look of it. I don't know if this supports the GSM model since I am on Verizon and have the LTE/CDMA phone.
i got my car charger from expansys when i ordered the phone

Been reading some of the other topics here trying to learn which is the best choice for an extended battery for the T989. I've seen praise going out to Anker and EC Technologies, an extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus, someone having decent luck with a battery with Chinese printing on it, etc.
So let's make this simple...
1. Is there a definitive list of which batteries have consistently shown better performance over others and have shown to do at or above the expected return compared to the stock battery?
2. Are there any particular companies/brands/etc to avoid at all costs? As in, so bad that even manufacturers of other below-par extended batteries can honestly brag about not being THAT bad.
3. From what I've read and learned, most non stock batteries don't support NFC. Are there any reliable extended batteries that do? Are there alternatives to keep NFC available even if the battery doesn't support it? I have a feeling the answer is no to the last one, but I could be wrong.
Not really battery related, but charging related...
1. I've come across a dual purpose charger with the Sprint name on it (via ebay). It plugs into a car but you can unfold prongs on it so it can be plugged into the wall. On the end (away from car adapter), there are two USB ports (one open, the other you can uncover when needed). Are those any good? Main interest here is the dual USB option as well as being able to use in a car or in a house.
2. I guess more importantly would be, are the accessories seen on ebay generally reliable (Buy It Now auctions, reputable sellers of course)? A lot of the car plugs I've seen look like I wouldn't have much to grab to pull on when needing to unplug it and that worries me. Also concerned about the quality/safety/reliability of the products and thus the question. If they are all pretty much "all the same" just different looks and such, but otherwise all safe, then that's great.
3. From #1.. Are there any reliable/reputable car/wall chargers that provide more than two USB ports? Like the idea of it being a single car/wall charging unit, but if it's two pieces (with more than two USB ports each), that works too.
Ever since getting and starting to use the T989... Wow, I wonder what I'm doing to cause it to need to be charged 20 times/day. (Not literally.)
For the record, I had made the slight boo-boo of getting a pair of the cheapo 'extended' batteries before reading up on them. Not too bad though, doesn't hurt to have spares. I saw a reference to recalibrating a battery, but when going into recovery mode, didn't see an option referred to for resetting the stats. Are there any decent guides for proper care of a battery? Best practices when first getting it, when to charge it, not charge it, etc.
Thanks for any help provided. Now off to enjoy my phone some more. Haven't talked much on it yet but hey, only had it about three weeks.
for your answer for number 3 there is an app called super beam if my memory serves me right and has a blue kind of wifi signal and should serve as a good NFC "alternative"

By alternative, do you mean it's not NFC but serves the same purpose? I'll definitely check it out, as I can see the usefulness of NFC. Still would like to know if NFC itself can be accomplished when using a battery that doesn't support it. Actually, more of, wanting to understand it just enough to know if it's possible and how (if so) or why (if not). I hope that makes sense.
I had tried bump but that was a bit of a disappointment. Will try looking for 'super beam' and see if I can find it. Thanks.
Edit: Found it.
SuperBeam (com.majedev.superbeam), without a space in the name. Looks promising, will try it out.

Basically if its not a well known, reputable brand name (samsung) they have no reason to be truthful about mah
Most of the no brand batteries are equal or lower mah than stock.
If samsung could fit more mah in a battery of that size, why would they not?
For charger testing use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801608
Higher numbers = faster charging
The max the phone will pull from a good charger is around 800ma, usb ports on pc's are limited to 500, which equals slow charging

Profits come to mind. Could be that they intended to sell an extended battery but in the end never did (did they?) or wanted to leave room for improvements as a selling point in the future. I'm sure you know companies will do that sort of thing to stay in business.
When I asked about ones to avoid, I meant if there are any particular ones that are the bottom of the barrel, even among 'generic' batteries. Perhaps identified by the label itself even if it doesn't have an actual name on it. Would still love to hear feedback in regards to the more popular batteries, as I don't want to order a pair from Anker and then come across a group praising some other brand (for example) and of course, vice versa.

Yeah I figured as much, still not a bad deal. I could probably sell the back on eBay, so that someone else ends up with it. Might not matter too much with the bulging door, as I'm using one of those 'Heavy Duty Rugged' cases. The one I got on eBay is item # 620107891193. Not really into the idea of doing anything to a battery, for fear of causing it to leak or something else which causes problems.

Has anybody personally found a good replacement internal battery that has full, or close to full charge capacity? I want to install a new one because my current battery dies so quickly anymore, but everywhere I look I only find ones with terrible user reviews. Can anybody point me in the direction of a better quality option?

No I ended up using the slightly-less-than-terrible verizon trade in offer on an s10. I got the plus because of the 4ah battery specifically although im already remember how much samsung's UI's blow compared to regular android... But if I had gotten one I would probably just get one directly from ifixit after reading some of the user feedback. Seems like they are mostly better received than amazon and ebay options.

Logos are marked out to do with customs, in many of countries they do not allow the importation of counterfeit products under copyright law, marking out the company logo bypasses this. Obviously if the actual OEM is selling their own batteries then this does not need to be done.
Any updates on battery life? I am looking to buy from the same seller for my Pixel XL.

Sorry for the late reply.
It was defective, it lasted a week before it would no longer hold a charge. It looked genuine, but I didn't want to deal with a replacement, so I ended up getting a refund, and going with ifixit for a replacement battery instead. I'm guessing I just received a lemon, the seller was solid with the refund.

Expensive at $25, but it's been solid ever since. Holds a charge very well. I purchased the kit, since I can see myself reusing the tools in the future.
It matches the original bloated battery I took out the first time. It seems to be genuine OEM, the HTC logo on the battery is covered up by a black marker which you can remove with alcohol. You can even make it out a bit in their photos.

What do you think? any practical reason to get the 4 over a battery upgrade for this one?

Since Google decided to extend support for the OG Pixel/XL with Android 10, they left me little reason to upgrade to 4. They would have to come in at $700 (not going to happen) or less for me to upgrade, or else I'm staying put until next year's 5. There is also the "possible" Pixel 4a/XL to look forward to in 6 months.
I had to buy mine used to replace my OnePlus 5 that had a saltwater accident after 2 years of use. The used eBay pixel XL I bought seemed like it hadn't been used in well over a year based on the software update status. It was also on the beta program so it was probably an enthusiast who bought new and used it a few months and switched to something else throwing it in a drawer. Battery still seems as good as they were new, after months of me using it. Still not as good as the OnePlus 5 and doesn't charge fast but it's still a good phone. Camera is close to as good as anything out there. UI had more lag than the op5 but seems smoother in scrolling and general usage.
Hi,on my pixel XL my USB preferences stopped working and is stuck on charge. After trying different chargers and cables, my phone will only charge using a USB-A to USB-C. When I plug phone into PC, it will only charge, can't change it from charge. I was wondering if someone has had a similar problem. If so, did changing the battery fix this problem or has anyone changed the USB daughter board and that fixed the problem. If anyone knows of a fix for my problem. Thank you.

sounds like either firmware or port to me but someone else may be able to correct me. have you also tried on a different computer? could be the ports on there.

Yes, I have tried on a different computer, did work there either. What it feels like, my USB preferences are not on my pixel XL anymore. Like they got wiped off my phone. Thanks
