I have the audio extended surface case with Hyperion battery now. But I just saw innocel plus convert which is the rugged surface case but includes 2 battery's which go into the case. Should I change cases? The one I have now doesn't protect bottom or top edge and doesn't seem like they will release a convert extended for surface cast. Anyone have thoughts on this?

If your case doesn't have any damage and you still have the original packaging I don't see why not. They might ask for shipping fees and any price difference. Tell them you aren't satisfied with the protection

Let us know when you get it if it fits ok with that battery.
Which color did you order?

It is a pretty snug fit with the verizon extended battery?
Thank you for a great find, I have been wanting a bumper case. Can we get a picture of the side with the volume buttons? Does it need to be modified at all for the volume buttons? I only ask because the case I have now is for the GSM version and I had to trim the inside with an emery board because it would turn down the volume by itself. But for five bucks it's not that big a deal.

You wont have anything to worry about in terms of the buttons aligning properly on your Galaxy Nexus.
So is the whole thing Tpu or is the outside hard plastic?

How is the case overall? Is it even giving any protection? It seems like it's not getting to the front at all. Does it add any bulk?
Looks like a nice case. And all for less than $5! In for the white one.
If you'd like to see it shown in a video, I believe this guy shows it at around 1:50 with I believe an extended battery. It's hard to tell since he doesn't talk and only gives thumbs up throughout the video. lol

The white portion is hard plastic.

my guess is that this case will fit for any battery since it leaves the battery cover exposed. The 3800mah battery will just stick out and not be covered. I don't know just my guess since I do not have the case. I think i will still buy one since it looks like it will fit anything.
Also the link says its for the i9250 but the op has it for the sch-i515? So I am assuming this is compatible for both cdma and gsm variants?
Great looking case,
Hopefully they ship to canada
Can the battery door be removed with the case on?

No

I hope you don't mind me posting pictures of the black one.
I have to say, I really like this case. I prefer this over my SGP Neo Hybrid case which I cut the back out of.
You can tell that this is a cheap $5 "chinese made" case because there are rough areas where you can see the injection points.
Also, right above the rear speaker, the cutout is too low exposing some of the housing of the phone itself and not just the battery door. It is very minimal and doesn't annoy me at all.
I can confirm that you CAN remove the battery door while having the bumper on for the GSM GNEX. I tested it with both the extended battery door and the original door. I guess there was a big enough difference in the Verizon one make this impossible.
CANADA
I LOVE that case! I'm looking for a case for my 3800 extended battery. I need it to ship to Canada...
Let me know guys.
At least what I could search on Ebay for it?
Thanks
I've been looking for a case that offers adequate protection while maintaining a relatively slim profile. My search has led me to the Otterbox Commuter Case but I would like to know how much protection it offers compared to the Case Mate with kickstand
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
The otterbox case is freaking great, I don't know how many times I dropped my phone and it's all good not a single scratch or dent. But it can't withstand throws like what my friend did to his when his girl pissed him off. Screen shattered.

Ya, Im talking about the commuter. The defender is too bulky as hell and ugly, but the protection from that is crazy, thats not really needed.
Edit: Case mate is also a good case, but I had that for my galaxy s fascinate and after a year the outer shell case started cracking i know its from me constantly taking it out of the case to pull out the battery. But still, the quality of the plastic is too crispy, it was cracking on both sides, like I left it out on the sun.
case mate
case mate tough case is good. i have a otterbox defender it was WAY TO BULKY. i switched back to my case mate and installed a zagg protector. i missed the thin profile

Yes I agree, trident aegis was my favorite until I got the tough. My phone feels protected but still fits in my pocket easily.
My Otterbox Commuter came in two days ago. I still haven't opened it yet because I'm trying to decide if I should send it back and get an extended battery instead. Anybody experience something like this? If so what did you choose?

I personally use the Otterbox Defender, being a contractor I absolutely need the "excessive" protection for my phone. Its taken a few falls off a 10 foot A frame ladder and been completely fine. If you want a step down, check out the Sedio cases as well. The case they have that offers protection similar to the Otterbox Commuter is great for the price. If you combine that with a good screen protector you're almost at the same level as the Defender.

Thats the Sedio case I'm referring to, the holster is junk but the case really isn't bad for mid level protection. Check out the others mention in this thread thus far as well, they are all good options.

Yeah the Commuter is a great choice, just figured I'd share my experience with Otterbox alternatives since Otterbox didn't make anything for this phone for a while. Extended batteries are overrated in my opinion, if one can't access a charger to give the phone a boost (if not a full charge) than I'd say those mobile power packs are a better investment. Unless you can find a good extended battery that still allows for a solid case, and if you find that let us know cause I'd like to look into that. That's just my take, I'd rather my phone lose a charge faster and still be in one piece haha. Cheers, let us know what you end up doing cause I'm pretty curious.

Haha my thoughts exactly! I think I'll just get an extra OEM battery or two. How hard is it to take the Commuter off? Also, will it begin to lose its form from taking it off?

Not sure to be honest because I've only had the Defender for this phone. If it's still the hard plastic inside with the rubber encasing it, it's bound to lose its shape eventually. My Defender's rubber outside is starting to slip off the bottom right corner a little bit, but I don't use the holster so I'm sure putting it in my pocket doesn't help. That and the case really does get a beating! But my phone looks like it's right out of the Samsung box every time it's out of the case so I can't complain.

I doubt anyone but Hyperion made a case that fits around their battery. Personally I'd ditch the hideous looking Hyperion door and pick up the official Samsung 3000mAh battery kit and a Diztronic Extended Battery Case, assuming you want a thin device with 50% more juice I never understand why third parties have to make such ugly doors for their batteries.

I purchased the trident electra because it has an extra Batt on board. Unfortunately, this coupled with stock oem battery wasn't enough. So i modded the case to fit both the trident batt and the HyPerion. I think the case is big enough to hold the zero lemon, which is what I'm going to eventually put in. Also, it only took about 10 minutes with a razor knife and straight edge.
I like that it doesnt look like a sled, or boat. Don't get me wrong is still Big.

I'm just posting to let people know that I've personally modified my Otterbox Commuter to fit the oem samsung extended battery. I was able to do this by simply using an xacto-knife to cut a battery-shaped rectangle for the extended battery to stick-out through the standard batt. door that came with the device. Then I just slipped the silicone cover over my s3,flipped it over(screen down) and cut around the raised edges on the silicone that outline where the battery was pressing against the silicone, and after that I was good to go. At the moment I'm not able to take pictures.

Not possible with this mod. If you read my post it mentions i cut the slim battery door because the EXTENDED battery obviously wouldn't fit otherwise.

I was just meaning to not use a battery door at all, just modding the case and putting on the phone without it. That way, you could always put the stock battery back in without a hole in the back of your phone.

I gotta admit it is pretty cool. Ive been thinking of getting a extended battery and the main thing holding me back is how bulky it would be and the lack of case options. But I love the commuter case and it seems to work. Does the case create a bump on the back when fully installed?

No, as the polycarbonate isn't flexible, it does NOT create a bump or distort the outer shell in anyway. The shell should remain perfectly flat, if installed correctly

You will need to cut the standard phone back portion of the case and the rubber portion of the otterbox this will bring everything flush with the extended battery. The outer shell of the otterbox acts as the new back cover it works really well i personally couldn't be any happier with the result.
