Just installed Spotify.. and it's damn annoying and battery consuming to have the phone vibrating in my pocket while listening to a song...
They say that it's Auto Haptic Feedback that's causing it... well that setting is gone in LJ7... Is there a way to bring back the menu option or at least completely disable auto haptic? Maybe a library or apk or something?
I tried simply disabling haptic feedback which I don't want to do, but even that didn't work, it still vibrates...
Annoying!!
Any ideas?
Fixed, see 4th post.

Could have sworn I was in the right section when I posted this... was in the middle of 50 other things at work, so who knows. Thanks.
Took a shot in the dark here, and it worked.
If anyone else is having this problem, here's what I did to fix it...
Backup Apps (Other than Settings)
Wipe Data/System
Install ICS (I'm on FreeGS3 so I just used an older version... 0.2.0 in this case)
Enable Auto Haptic
Install Spotify (I just restored it from the backup), verify the vibrate is on
Go into Auto Haptic, put a check in Spotify
Then back out and go back in, remove the check
Then back out and disable Auto Haptic
Verify the vibration is gone
Reboot to Recovery
Wipe Dalvik/Cache
Update to JB without wiping Data.
Restore Apps
Re-setup all settings
Drink Beer
I typically backup my settings as well, but this time I decided to go without it so that it wouldn't somehow re-enable it in the background.
Just an FYI if people have the same problem here.
Thanks for the question and info on the fix. I was able to duplicate the fix with my nandroid backup. I know there is a new elegant way to do this by manually editing the system. I'll do some homework and post back.
I reviewed portions of the secsettings.apk, and saw that much of the script for autohaptic was intact. Comparing files beween ics and jb made it clear that the removal of the autohaptic settings was a mistake.. I did another google search, and found that a recent widget was created to address the issue. The widget is a temporary fix to globally enable or disable autohaptic until they can fix the issue.

Had this problem before. A simple reboot did the trick for me. :]
rebooted.. it worked for awhile. then it started up again. seems to be on and off.. very random. i looked thru everything on my phone thinking "maybe" theres some option thats making it do this, but nothing. its quite annoying when im trying to txt.

I'm assuming you're talking about the physical keyboard; its a quick keys bug, just push the search button first and it'll disable it
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
There actually is a setting for keyboard shortcuts - clear all of them and the problem goes away. No bug, the ROM has the shortcuts set when you flash it for some reason. Flash a newer ROM and it shouldn't do it - or just clear the shortcuts.
I can't look in my phone right now to tell you where the setting is at but it might do some good for you to look through them and become familiar so you don't call something a bug that isn't.

yeah i figured this was the problem. i looked through my phone pretty throughly and didn't see any options though. I'll look again and get back to this thread n report.
this has been happening on and off to my phone for the last couple of weeks, I am still running RC4. it is very strange, the ROM worked fine for a while and now does this every so often, pressing E opens email app, S opens search. a reboot fixed everytime and then for what seems like no reason at all, it starts again.
will go to stable this week and hopefully it will go away. just thought i'd add another device to the list of ones with the issue.
i have no shortcuts setup at all, and have double checked. have been using CM7 since the start and it never happened prior to RC4.
When this happen just hit the "symb/search" button and the keyboard will work again
Sorry it took so long to get back with the cure but here it is:
settings>applications>quick launch
In there is where all the hw keyboard shortcut settings are. Clear any you don't want, create new ones, or whatever. Clear the ones that are giving you issues and this should solve it. If you ever clear your user data (factory reset) then it clears these settings also, so you may have to go in and delete the shortcuts again.
Hope this helped!
thank you! i cleared it all.

Does anyone know how to keep this off? It keeps coming back on, I believe when i go from silent to volume again with the volume rocker. I'm not rooted and don't want to be.

Not sure being rooted or not has anything to do with it. Mine has done this once (rooted) and not sure why yet. After disabling it hasn't come back and done it yet.
When in sound settings screen does the option recheck itself when you toggle the volume rocker?
Also, how long has it been since you rebooted the device? Might try unchecking and then rebooting and see what happens. Just a thought.
Just stating the rooting thing in case someone had some funky way to fix it that required rooting. And yes the option re-checks itself every time.

Might read through this thread if you haven't seen it already: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-galaxy-s-iii/204714-touch-sounds-turning-back-itself.html
So from that thread it seems there are 2 possible causes for this glitch:
-switching camera modes (unrooted)
-turning off camera snapshot noise (rooted)
I'm not rooted and have no option for turning off the snapshot noise, so i toggled my camera from vid to pic and it did immediately re-check the touch sound option but only the first time. For several tries after it didn't do it, only the first. I did change my camera mode earlier which if it is the cause of this glitch then that kind of proves it. I will be mindful of it if I change camera modes for verification, but It seems weird to me the camera is tied to the touch sound option.
I can confirm that the camera will cause this to happen when you switch between still to video mode. I know that I have seen (heard) it happen under other circumstances as well but I have not been able to pin it down.
I do not know of a solution for the unrooted phone. I am rooted so I went in and replaced the sound files with a silent file to permanently disable the sounds.

After the latest 4.1.2 update i've had an unusual bug come up. When i'm in the middle of a phone call, my screen shows the (for lack of a better term...) chooser screen when you decide whether to accept the call, hang up, or reply with a text. I can't get rid of it and it overlay's the big red "End Call" button so to hang up I have to hit the home button, then pull down the notifications and select "hang up" from there.
Maybe there's a setting that i'm missing but i didn't change anything and the only thing that has changed on my phone is the 4.1.2 update. Does anyone have any idea's what's going on?
I unlocked and rooted my phone to get the Jelly Bean update about 3 months ago but other than that I haven't messed with it. Any help anyone can give would be great. I'm a big fan of xda.

You might try wiping data in the phone apk.

EDIT: I FIGURED IT OUT ALREADY. AFTER MUCH SEARCHING I FOUND THE SALUTION BUT CANT REMEMBER WERE. TURNS OUT THE DEVICE WAS IN FACTORY MODE. I HAD TO TURN IT ON WITH TERMINAL EMULATER. YES ON IS OFF LOL
Ill try to look it up again in a bit, but this occurs after using one of the dialer codes. Happened to me once and I've seen it here 2 or 3 other times too. Just can't remember how to get rid of it right now...

Figured it it was in factory mode
I am unrooted on KK4.4.4 and don't want to upgrade or root at present. I searched the phone, the forum, the net, and tried everything I can think of. Still can't find the answer. Please help!
I made the mistake of disabling the pop-up box that has to do with wireless charging and battery full/disconnect because it was annoying. Now it has a sound that is one hundred times more annoying. All I want to do is turn the silent box notification back on. Any ideas other than a factory reset? I just got it setup and don't want to redo everything. Thanks in advance.

Sick, and apparently stupid today also. Found a way to turn the sound off and that's all I needed.
