Hey there,
I tried to calibrate my battery the last few days...
There where so different descriptions on how to do it right.
But well at some point they all said to charge the phone turned of ( well it automaticaly jumps into recovery, right?).
And it was said charge it till the led goes green.
But I think it never happens in my case.
In one case I fully chagred my phone powered on and then turned it off, plugged it in again. The red/orange led staied there even after 3 hours...
The other day I fully discharged the phone and wanted to charge it in recovery mode. So I plugged it in, the red/orange led began to flash, recovery booted and I went to bed. About 10 hours late I woke and the led was still flashing as before.
I had no patience and turned it on. With the system running it tells me, that its at 100%.
Turning it off again unplug and replug it will show the red/orange led again but not flashing.
Its a european desire z (germany)
On Virtuous 0.9
With clockwork 2.something
Any ideas? Should I have been even more patient to see the green light in recovery? How long could it take?
Thanks,
- coni

It seems the question of how to charge the battery pops up at least once a week now, with the same misconceptions. There is no such thing as calibrating the battery. All you are doing is calibrating the battery meter (just a volt meter) on the phone. Li ion batteries cannot (and should not) be calibrated or conditioned. The best way to calibrate the meter is to charge the phone to 100%, drain to about 20%, repeat a couple times. You should not discharge the battery below 20%. I cover it a little more in depth on the following post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11026655&postcount=7
I don't see any advantage to charging the phone while its off (except that it will charge faster, of course). I always charge mine while its on (with screen off).
I don't know why your green light is not coming on. Mine comes on after the phone has been charging for about 2 hours or less. But I am on the stock ROM, so its possibly something to do with the ROM, so you might have some better response by searching or asking in the Virtuous thread.
Yeah I know that you just calibrate the voltage meter but its just easier to say battery calibration.
Well maye the misconceptions occur because there are plenty of different answers spread and its easy to become confused. I just avereged over these methods and the consensus was to change fully while turned off.
The only way I could think of loading in recovery is better, is that the software prevents loading when it thinks battery is full (but in fact it is not), but I relly dont know.
And you say even after deleting battery stats there is no need for discharging till shutdown (to show the limits or anything)? To reset on full battery is enought?
Thanks,

does anybody know how to delete battery statistics of the Desire Z ?
I want to calibrate battery and delete old stats.
Thanks & Greets
Well, your problem first if that you said you had recovery 2.x and that if you turned it off it automatically jumps to recovery.. you seem to have the first recovery that the power off feature wasnt quite working well.. upgrade to a 3.x then like the above user said but drain the battery until it reaches %15.. thats when the Connect To A Charger popup shows up.. and charge to 100% and do couple cycles of these..

Hey everyone, I am having some trouble with my rooted phone. Prior to rooting the phone, I had no battery life issues. Right after Christmas, I had a little bit of time and I rooted my phone for tethering, mostly. I used the root listed on this website at the time (I couldn't use unrevoked because I had just done the OTA update to the software) and installed no further changes. Since then, I can get about 8 hours before the battery is well below 50%. This is without making any phone calls or using the internet, and maybe a few texts. I have resorted to turning off the connection to the internet, and this preserves my battery and allows me to make some calls without absolutely killing my battery. When I unplug, I can almost watch the battery life drain. I will be at 90% by the time my 15 minute drive to work is done. I have tried changing chargers, buying a new battery, and nothing works other than shutting off the connection to the internet. When I look at what has been using the battery, I not no time where I did not have a cell connection, and all the battery usage is idle and connection to network time. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!
Wow, your situation seems very strange. Are you running a custom ROM or kernel? Have you tried using spare parts to see what is actually consuming your battery? Perhaps, you can try wiping everything from the phone and installing the stock ROM or other custom ROM of your choice. Please keep us posted, good luck
Recalibrate the battery. I would link you but kinda hard to do so. Just search the forums for it.

What Rom are u using?
That is happening to me too. After I first rooted the battery life was good better than before. I had been using vaelpak, then a about last week my battery started to drain so fast. I would take it off the charger and do a little texting or check my emails. Shower or what not than I pick up my phone and its like 92% already. Thinking maybe I have too many apps so I deleted some and then forced stopped a few and I forgot what else and that day my battery stayed on 60%(thats what it was on when I took it off the charger before I left) for about a good two hours and i was listening to music and the internet and text and all that. Kinda scared me because I thought I messed something up, but the battery lasted longer that day. Then the next day back to the same old same old. Last night I flashed warm twopointtwo and was charging my evo last night but I put it under the pillows by accident and woke up this morning the phone was burning up and flashing red and green at the same time and it had stopped charging. I took the battery out and let it cool for a few hours. now its charged back up. I wanna see if the battery improves with warm but I think I'm going to flash another ROM but this one is too pixeled and its killing my eyes So upset. but let me know if you fix your battery problem
hmmmm....maybe....

I'm having similar problems, though not as dramatic - mybattery life only lasts about a third of what it used to. I am running 2.2 RLS 5 witht the htc stock #15 kernel. What I am trying to do is hunt down a decent kernel that is compatable with RLS 5. I have found a few - but I am still in the process of researching information about the issue.
I have found 3 differant ways to reset your battery... I'm going with the last one (blue) for now and am currently in the process of executing it right now, but here are the three steps I have found while reading:
Charge the phone fully with it powered on
When fully charged, disconnect cable
After green LED goes off, power the phone off
When phone is fully powered off, reconnect cable, amber charging light should be on
When LED goes green, disconnect cable
Repeat previous two steps 10 times
After 10th cycle, boot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this is one from HTC
Charge the phone for 8 hours uninterupted with power on
turn off the phone and charge for an additional hour
turn ont he phone unplug it and let it sit for 2 minutes then plug it in for an additional hour.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
charge the phone to full
unplug and use phone till it shuts off from no battery (do not plug in until it shuts off)
charge phone to full again with out unplugging till 100% (check under about phone > battery it shoudl say full charge there)
then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats
reboot back into phone and charge too 100% with a wall charger( don not unplug until at 100%)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After I try this out - I might or might not switch my kernel - But I wll say this - I had absolutly awesome battery life when I was running HTC stock #17 - you might could look into flashing that instead of what you are running now (flash it just like you would a ROM) - you can find it here
hope this helps out a little bit - but in reality - getting your battery the way you like it is really more of a trial and error type procedure...good luck
Ah, welcome to an elite club...right. I rooted my 003 Evo last summer after getting it shipped to me. From then until mid-november of last year, I got great battery life. Before the switch flipped in November, I could leave it sit overnight and i'd use 1-1.5% charge per hour, so worst case after 8-hours sleeping with no use I'd be at 86-88% charge.
Then suddenly as it a switch had been flipped, I started getting horrible battery life. The ROM didn't matter, settings mattered little, it just sucks no matter what I do. If I unplug it at 6:00 AM and leave it completely unused until 2:00-3:00PM that afternoon, the stock battery is at 31-35%. The awake time will be under an hour, and every utility that I use reports nothing out of the ordinary.
I bought a 3500 mAh battery and its better of course, but gets me nowhere near the use what the stock battery used to provide. I unrooted back to stock with the same results so I rooted again of course. Might try flashing back to the 1.77 PRI and NV. Some folks are getting better battery life with those, but that may only be related to sleep issues which my phone doesn't appear to have. It may prove to be a waste of time, but I have to keep trying.
Good luck all of the club members! Thank you for your time.

Tried the middle one from HTC as well... we will see how it goes. Just in the time I have been typing this message (about 2 minutes), my battery has gone from 91 to 88%.
Also forgot to add that I have been out of town every week for the last two months and noticed that the HTC weather thing on the startup screen hasn't been switching to my current location. Always shows my hometown, even if I force an update.
I think I figured out the problem... ran into several threads discussing PRI incompatibility with HTC kernel #15. Flashed back to 1.77 and doing much better. Didn't mess with the NV. We will see how it does for the rest of the day.
Hey all,
I recently flashed CM 10, the stable version, and am loving it so far. The only issue is an odd one. When I turn my phone off and charge it, it will only charge 20%, not a % more. It could be at 40, and when I wake up and turn it on, it's at 60. The battery icon while the phone is off shows that it's fully charged, but it's not. When I turn the phone on and charge it, it charges up to 100 no problem. I'm running the stock kernel and have in no way messed with it.
I'm not really sure at all what to do. A battery calibration, re flash the rom? Any help would be appreciated.
Edit:
I installed the newest version of AOKP, and the same thing happened, althought with this rom it didn't charge at all. The icon showed it was, but when it was turned on, it hadn't gotten anything.
I'm having a very interesting issue with my HTC One. When I power the phone completely off (ie: Hold power button, click power off), the battery still drains when left alone for a few hours. I'd except maybe a percentage or two drained when the phone first boots back up, but its kinda unacceptable that in ~12 hours the battery goes down 15+%!!
Last night, at 8:00PM EST, I turned off my One with a bit over 80% battery remaining. I even rebooted into recovery this time and hit power off to ensure that the phone wasn't doing some crazy deep-sleep hibernation junk. This morning, at 9:00AM I turned the phone back on and had 63% battery! About a 20% drain for 13 hours of completely powered-off sitting on a desk? I've attached a screenshot to further describe the issue. I'm at a loss for this one. With my usage, the phone honestly drains the same amount of power with the phone off than if I just left it on!
To add more confusion: When I first got the phone (Monday after the launch), I didn't have this problem. I'd turn the phone off with 100% once it was charged and 12 hours later turn it back on to 100%. A week or two into using the phone, I started seeing this. I thought it was something weird with Stock, and Googling suggested that the HTC One had some deep-sleep hibernation mode to make boots faster, but after installing CM10.2 I have the same issue. Even with powering the phone off from recovery!
Any ideas? Anyone else noticing this? Is my One defective? (I hope I don't need to send it back.......)

You have to go into settings>power and uncheck fast boot. With this check it kinda puts the phone into hibernation mode and it never totally turns off.
My solution above is for a Sense based ROM not sure what may be causing this running a CM based ROM. Kernel maybe????

I did this while still on Stock; didn't change anything. Note that I'm now on CM10.2 where Fast Boot isn't a thing. Also, powering off from recovery should negate any hibernation, which I tried last night and still saw a 20% drain in 12 hours!

CLUELESS I don't get that kinda drain with my phone being on and untouched. It may be a defective battery.

That's what I'm thinking, although what is weird is that usually batteries are either defective on day 1, or degrade over time. It's weird that in the course of a week or two I went from a seemingly perfect battery (maintained charge while powered off) to a terrible battery.
To make matters weirder: I'd expect more than terrible battery life while the phone is on, although I'm not seeing anything excessively bad. This is going to be a nightmare trying to explain to VZ, especially because I can't just tell them I've diagnosed with CM10.2 and a custom recovery. What sucks the most is I'm (more than likely) going to get a "certified like-new" phone back... ugh...

Yeah, I feel your pain GOOD LUCK:fingers-crossed:
Ok guys, yeah it's 5 years old already.Few days ago I noticed then when I charge it to 95-100% and leave the tablet turned off, when I turn it on battery looses like 10 % over a day and so on,so battery is draining when the tablet is turned off.
What can I do,I mean I can take it to a friend of mine who is pc technician but what can he do?
Possible hardware failure or battery issue?
If the battery has lost much capacity it will still charge up to 100%, but discharge much quicker.
If screen-on time is still okay, some peripheral component may not switch off when powering down. Some custom rom had messed up an old phone of mine and even after flashing stock rom the battery drained by 50%/day after switching the phone off. I even ordered a new battery to no avail.
If the Note hangs up or freezes during power off, you'd need a hard reset to power it on again and the battery would be completely drained in less than a day.
Self-discharge on my Note is extremely low, about the same as if i would store the battery separately or with a hardware power switch.
Screen on time is terrible like 2h or so...which means battery is bad, right?
Bad battery or bad configuration. The latter if the Note is drawing more than 1000mA when idle with screen on.
My battery still lasts about 7 hours (screen-on) and is the original from 2k13.
Battery lasts for like 6 h,and it's draning power when is switched off...I'm not sure how much but maybe like 5 % per day...
And I also noticed time and date is fuc..d up...
Can this be resolved?
So now even new battery can not last more then 4 hours, today tablet turned off at 30 % battery,I got flashing blinks and it turned off.
When I charge tablet it doesn't charge like in the start for 8-9 hours, usually 4,5 at max and when I check on status I see 70 % and then in a second 100 %.So smth is pretty messed up..
Seems to me it's for garbage only...
The Android Coulometer could be ****ed up. Although that should be more of a database than a driver, you could repair it by flashing the Coulometer driver via ADB. Only for stock rom. And there was only a guide for my old Huawei Mediapad on how to perform this.
A complete factory recovery in Download Mode will have the same effect. Or it may just slowly get better with time again, as it did with said Mediapad.
I once experienced real drain in soft-off state of an old phone, about 50%/day. A new battery didn't help. And the phone did really switch off, otherwise you'd have had to press power for 10s instead of one, for a cold boot. And with even higher drain.
A custom rom may have flashed a wrong firmware into a peripheral chip's flash. In case of said phone i suspected the wifi/BT combo chip, which retained a custom rom's bug even after flashing stock rom in D/L mode.
I was told that this is hardware issue.
What is factory recovery and what will it do,and how do I do it?
2.I can't update to android 5.0 at all.
When I click update manually get msg: you have recent update smth like that...
