Not sure how it happened but the capacitive buttons and the pull down menu are not functioning. Any others have this problem or a solution?
Capacitive? I dont have any of those.
Probably systemui has failed. Shutdown/Reboot.

I'll try a full wipe. Hopefully that works..
I'm guessing the 3 navigation buttons aren't capacitive? Either way thanks for the input

Sorry if this has already been posted or in wrong section, and I take no credit for it but I found it to be pretty cool. To add soft keys to rooted stock touchwiz rom all you have to do is add this line to the build prop and reboot.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Or you could just download "Soft keys" from the Play store!!!!!

You can do whatever you want.... I just thought it was interesting that it wasn't completely disabled and was easily added...If you don't like it or have something else you use, that's great.

Download it, get the apk and zip it in the ROM, or you can use TB to integrate it into ROM.

Why would I do that? I just edited the build prop and it's there...... I understand there are other ways to get soft keys. But I wanted them built in like the galaxy nexus so when I found this mod I thought I'd share......

Agree with you. I am using the same method on my HD2 CM9 for 8 months now.
My SGS3 will arrive today and I am glad that this method will apply to rooted stock rom. Was wondering if this method CM rom only or also stock rom.
Thank you for your information.
IMO this method is way better than some softkey apps because it doesn't use ram and is native like.
will this work on cm10?

I would love to disable my hard keys. I am new at this stuff, so forgive my ignorance.
I have a t-mobile unlocked 32gb white rooted with AOKP jellybean- 4th release
And I cannot find any other mods to the physical buttons, like making the home button a camera button. Not as important, but would love to know if you can tell me.
Thanks!

Look in the android development section. I made one to disable the hardware keys. And someone else made one to change home button to camera button.

I'm running the CM10.1 nightlies and am interested in getting nexus 4 like on screen buttons.
I have tried editing the build.prop file with the qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 but that only enables options in the settings and not the actual keys themselves. Anybody have ideas?

Flash AOKP 4.2.2 JB-1 MR1 Build 5. It got Navigation Bar (Virtual Button) Option. It is the same CM10.1 ROM further developed with more customization options & fixes. Everything is working Great in this AOKP ROM.
For more details go here
:good:
I didn't realize they were the same. I'll give it a go.

Sorry about that, no idea then. :/
Its fine, hopefully somebody else can chime in.
Edit: Just tried out AOKP thoroughly and I feel like its not as smooth as CM10.1
I'm going to bump this. I really like the nav buttons but theres too many useful features in CM10.1 that are missing in AOKP. Hopefully somebody can lead me to enabling the nav bar for cm 10.1
Guys, i dropped my Galaxy W and now the 'back' button isn't working anymore, and i miss it for a lot of things. There's an app who can put that on? Like, configure to when hold de Menu button, it will go back? Or something who can help me, cause i really would like to be able to back on apps, games and stuff.
Thanks.

Well if you are on Cyanogen or any other rom based on it, you can enable soft keys or just like @geniusboy93 suggested you can use pie controls. Go to themes and apps section and look for pie controls.
Good luck.

How do i get this pie controller? On the Themes or the Apps section, on Settings, there is nothing about that. I'm using the MonsterRom, based com CM 10.1. This soft key could help to? How do i find it?

Hey there man. It looks like there is some kind of timeout for the volume rocker to work. I mean, if you let the screen locked for one or two minutes the volume wake won't work, it only works within the first minute after locking the screen... any idea why that could be?
