I don't use Kies, but for some reason, the Note doesn't like my USB 3.0 port on my laptop.
If I plug it into the USB 2.0 port, it connects in MTP mode and shows up in Explorer.
If I plug it into the USB 3.0 port, it doesn't.
I tried reinstalled the Samsung USB driver, and it didn't help.
I just make sure I use the USB 2.0 port and it's OK.

Your laptop is probably just jealous because you're using it less and less after getting the note 2

They pull too much power. If you use a powered hub it will work.

My drive does that. Spins and lights but the phone doesn't recognize it. Ill try a powered hub

If the drive is formatted ntfs you need to install Paragon on your phone in order to read it.

You'll need an OTG cable and be rooted to use "StickMount"......... You can use "Nexus Media Importer" it's $3.99 and then use it with the OTG cable and no root......... To mount an SDcard you'll need the adapter to plug it to the OTG cable but any USB flash drives will plug in to the OTG cable

That I'm not sure about........ Plug in the OTG plug your Y in, but of course if the Y doesn't have a micro USB port no way to change it while using the OTG cable.
EDIT: Maybe USB from the charger to USB to the Y

I have a T-Mobile note 3 and I just bought it 2 days ago and I've noticed that the phone stops charging when I move it even slightly, and the only way to make it start charging again is to bend the cable so it is straight, again from the end, also it(the cable) seems loose and look's As if it hasn't gone in fully into the charging port, because It wiggles a lot. Please help!!?

Sounds like a hardware issue. I would take it back to the store and get it replaced.

Could it be an issue with the cable, because I charged it using a USB 2.0 charger and it worked perfectly?

Solution, just buy a new usb cable, could not be easier than that!
You can use either a usb 3.0 cable which came with
the phone or a usb 2.0 cable, it works fine either way.
Good luck!
OK thanks guys, it turns out the clip on The plug was broken, which is why it wasnt firm when I plugged it in, but I just bought a new one and that solved the problem.

I had a question. I know our phones can charge using a standard Micro USB cable but will it charge at the full 2 amps or is a USB 3.0 cable required to utilize the full 2 amps?
I am using original Samsung charger.
Thanks!

It is the wall unit that puts out the 2 amp

Yup. Using the Samsung wall charger. Will using a standard Micro USB cable charge at the full 2 amps?

Yes. As per Samsung a long time ago the cable does not play into changing just the wall adapter

There are some differences between cables cuz I have an app on my phone that monitors the amperage and it differs with some cheap cables

Absolutely, have USB 2 charging cable that came with my BT headphones and charging rate is much slower than original cable.
I agree but I have yet to run into a cheap cable that will slow down my charging to the point I noticed.

Yes, but you'll need a USB OTG Y cable, because phone is not able to send voltage to peripheral. I still think that the problem is in software(drivers), not in hardware.
