By previous device's history, yes. Official updates that is, i think we'll see 2 more major versions officially supporting maguro/toro/toroplus.
Unofficially, we'll have aosp roms for indefinite time. I have no doubts about this.

Hi guys !
I just wanted to say that SFR France announced Android 4.0.5 for the Galaxy Nexus, and it should arrive on March according to them. Given the fact that they modify the ROM, the official build may arrive sooner !
Picture/Link/Proof or didn't happen.
http://android.sfr.fr/maj-optimisez-votre-mobile-android-mettez-le-a-jour-previsions-7
Course, I'd rather see 4.0.4 for GSM at the moment
Such a table can everyone create. I dont trust such news without evidence.
4.0.4 and 4.0.3 aren't official released yet and you're debating about 4.0.5.
I heard it makes the battery last for a week on 1 charge.
This website is official.(sfr)
Sfr is a French mobile provider and they always provide "such a table" about future firmware update.

Oh seems nice. I'm SFR user and will reposte here if I get the ota in Mars. I wonder how they'll modify the room. If it turn out to be worse than custom roms I'll not be surprised.
With all the ics version numbers flying around it's hard to keep track. This 4.0.5 thingy would probably be something similar to 4.0.4 for Verizon LTE update but exclusive for SFR users.

And yes the website is official.
4.0.3 isn't out for perfection reasons I think [sorry my bad again, 4.0.3 isn't meant for GNex apparently] and 4.0.4 is exclusive for [scratch that] LTE users, so SFR users getting a 4.0.5 update is not really surprising.

You wont get any evidence before it is actually released. SFR can say whatever they want, and any Android developper can, too.
I'm just sorry I did not post a link first.

Depending on what changed it may be an incremental update to address LTE /CDMA issues. If this is the case it would not be pushed to GSM handsets. This was done with the Nexus S / Nexus S 4G. It has nothing to do with exclusivity but does lead to devices running different minor versions.
When appropriate an OTA will be pushed for GSM devices as well, it may be 4.0.4 or a later minor release such as 4.0.5.

It certainly is.
Same as 2.3.x versions in the past. 4.0.4 is not officially out. One user got it, we helped pull it. Thats not enough to draw such conclusions from. LTE issues will be resolved in ril and radios. That can be shipped with any build.
Don't forget LTE telephony code is now native to Android as of ICS. There is no reason for fragmentation.

It doesn't get rolled out based on region, so just wait for the reports/reviews to come trickling in in the next few days.

there is no 4.0.5 hehe
cdma will have 4.0.4 in next week (april)..that ur 4.0.5 people was talking about, but is named 4.0.4..
4.0.5 was just a joke about the 4.0.4 not going to be out because of the 404 "not found" joke..
JBQ: I did joke internally that people made up unfounded rumors about 4.0.5 because each time they looked for something about 4.0.4 they got "not found". Now that 4.0.4 is out, I guess I can make the joke in public

Only the slow ones are waiting. I've been on 4.0.4 since early Feb, almost 2 months.
My guesses for release:
GSM/HSPA+ (yakju/takju) - Mid july as stated.
GSM/HSPA+ (non-yakju) - I'd bet you won't see the first one until mid September.
CDMA/LTE (Verizon/mysid) - Giving Verizon two months to test Google's ROM, I say mid September.
CDMA/LTE (Sprint/mysidspr) - Considering Samsung AND Sprint both have to get their paws into this, I'm guessing mid October at the earliest.
Discuss.

As sad as it is, I'm thinking September also. Assuming yakju is getting it OTA in a couple weeks, this makes sense. Just look at how long it took Verizon to make a small point release to 4.0.4... I really wish they got it out sooner but I won't be surprised.
Dont forget that the PDK have been out to google partners for a few weeks..
so we might be surprised

A new nexus is always released with a new system version if history is to repeat itself.
Nexus One - Eclair/Froyo
Nexus S - Gingerbread
Galaxy Nexus - Ice Cream Sandwich
Nexus 7 - Jellybean
Assuming history is followed we should be able to expect a new version with the next nexus. But we must keep in mind googles plan for 1 major update/year and with that in mind it could be June when we get our next major release.

are you kidding me? the facts he gave you about the different Nexus phones are EASILY google-able.
the rest is just him speculating anyways, which accomplishes nothing other than to sort of semi-satisfy your "blind curiosity" that is clearly you just trying to blind us with the fact that you're LAZY to look it up yourself.
Go to rumor sites if you want speculation, this is NOT rumor site, and this forum for the Nexus even less-so.

Yes it will receive an official 4.2, and then even when it stops getting the updates officially it will continue to get them for years from the devs..

Nobody knows when exactly, we know the new devices ship with it on the 13th, so it's speculation as to if it will be available on the 13th or (hopefully shortly) after. I would guess the gNex will see 4.2 at least unofficially by the end of November, BUT that is just my guess.

If you're asking about the official stock VZW/Google 4.2, it will probably be late December at the earliest, based upon past experience with this phone and other VZW Androids.
If you're asking about when custom 4.2 ROM's, such as CyanogenMod, CodeNameAndroid, or AKOP, based upon the 4.1 code release, a nightly based on 4.2 should be available in a day or two after the code is released into gerrit, so probably around 15 or 16 November.
The Galaxy Nexus is going to receive updates for a long time...
Dual core with 1GB RAM is more than enough to receive good updates, even if not from Google, but from devs
I remember when 512mb of ram and a 1Ghz processor was plenty.
