[Q] SONY XPERIA ARC CRASH /w PA 4.1.1 JELLY - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have upgrade using PA custom ROM firmware, and it works fine when it's booted, but when I try to boot it, it takes about 20 tries to get past PA boot screen. Any help?

Hi @MattH86,
Maybe it's kernel related..?
The only time I've seen that is when I tried a particular kernel that had voltage issues.
So look through the thread to find what kernel other people using the rom prefer.
That's by 2-cents worth.
Good luck,
Hotfingers

[ROM][AOKP][ALPHA0]Xperia S AOKP![ICS][4.0.4]

Hi all! I don't own an Xperia S but I tried to make an AOKP ROM for you.
Of course I don't know what works and doesn't. You have to tell me.
Instructions:
- Flash Kernel "fastboot flash boot boot.img".
- In recovery wipe data and cache.
- In recovery flash the ROM.
- Reboot.
- In recovery flash Gapps and reboot.
Download:
ROM
AOKP Xperia S Alpha 0
Use FXP Kernel, if someone can upload it, it would be great!
Google Apps:
Latest Gapps
Credits:

AOKP for S???? Too excited. Will give it a try once I am home. I only hope all major features are working
Nice work I will try this when I get back, is there a certain baseband we need to be on?
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
I don't know even if it boots...
Same baseband as CM9.
I've been porting it too so expect builds from me if OP doesn't get his device.
Since this is running on fxp kernel, I assume most of the essential things that make a phone a phone isn't working as well, am I right?
Anyone given it ago yet?? Has he managed to get the modem working when fxp cant? Nice to see some new Roms in this forum thanks
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
No, nothing modem related there. Same kernel...
stupid question: the buttons on-screen are there or they can be hidded and use the built ones?
i dont really know how to ask this in english, maybe you cant understand what im trying to say XD

In AOKP you can always switch the buttons on and off. Even if they are there by default, which I highly doubt, you'll be able to disable them in ROM Control.
I really hope major features are working. I'll try it tomorrow evening after job
Just want to announce that Venom and I decided to join forces. Having some schtuff I'll try to get, we might be able to get the baseband working

Thanks, I will try your CM10 ROM, although I have rooted and installed several ROMS in a samsung spica, and a sony Xperia ArcS, I have not very clear how to install your ROM.
Wipe Data, Cache, and system "OK"
Flash the ROM "It's the TEST13 file? is this done in the recovery, right?"
Flash GApps "is this done in the recovery, right?"
Download the boot.img "OK xD"
Flash boot.img in fastboot "I guess this one is not done in the recovery, could you please be a little bit more specific? what is included in the boot.img? it's mandatory?"
If I install this kernel it adds any apps/option in the ROM so I can change the OC to 1.2 or keep the default 1?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765687
Or in order to change I need to install a 3rd party app in google play?
Thanks in advance

boot.img is the kernel, mandatory.
In case you need commands
Settings>Performance has options for freq. control. But I think some app like "no frills" is recommended.

Just flash the jb rom and kernel. Reboot and see if you get the network. If not then revert to your ICS, until you can try again and provide logcat..

I would suggest you to stick to ICS for now, as no baseband can be quite major issue. Search the forums to find out how to provide logcat...
I would also suggest a backup of the EFS before you play anymore with flashing ROM's etc. There is a sticky in the dev threads for the same.

[Q]Stuck at boot logo Fusion

I can't post in the development section so that's why I'm posting here. I just flashed Fusion 5.5 kernel on my arc S. It all went well, I used flashboot mod, like this
watch?v=Yxh14h7ennY
Same way. But I'm stuck at the fusion start logo, for like 10 min.
If You Flashed v4.X Or You Reverted To Any Other Kernel After Flashing v4.X,You Have To Wait For Sometime (Don't Panic!) In Order To Boot In Successfully.

The kernel/boot.img is in the rom zip and yes you have to flash it. Not usually with soff but there are very few s-off devices so the Rom's usually don't include the script to flash the boot.img. Do it manually fastboot flash boot boot.img

I'm not on my computer do I can't check what you get with that download. Sounds like you need to flash modules. Till the great Mr Hofs comes back you can try another sense kernel like xm or Alex. Just do a search and flash the boot.img from the kernel you download and then flash the whole kernel.zip in recovery.

Hmm it's the latest unofficial ics viper. But what nogot says is right. The modules are in the rom so they are installed with the rom install. Sure you did a clean full wipe .....wiped dalvik cache too ?

Thank you guys, you are surely amazing people for taking your precious time and helping me! I solved the problem it turned out that I accidently selected that I have a custom kernel but I have a stock kernel. After reinstalling the rom choosing the stock kernel option, everything works flawlessly, right now I'm restoring all my apps from my nand back up. If anyone can help me update to jelly bean, I would truly appreciate that as ICS is getting really outdated but if there is really nothing that I can do then I am happy with viperx 2.8.0
