After flashing my phone had the horrid IMEI 0 issue so I followed the instructions and restored it and my phone signal has been stable since. I ran the data fix tool too. Now my phone connects to HSPA+ data with full bars when I first turn it on but then the bars go down one at a time til 0 and it goes down one step at a time showing 3G, then H, and then finally sitting on Edge. Has anybody managed to fix this problem or am I pretty much doomed to use EDGE data forever?

my phone has been rooted for 1 year now and so far have had no problems what so ever, but just recently i flashed synergy rom and all hell broke loose. my phones 4g works fine and so does wifi but my 3G would not start, it would turn on for about 1 second then go straight to 1x.
things i have tried......
update my profile and prl...nothing
##data##, menu, restore....nothing
pulled the battery like about 155752 times....nothing
nandroid restore to a time where it was working...thing
flashed like 6 different roms and still nothing works.
flashed new radios and still a no go..
i tried to do the whole metro pcs flash but then changed my mind not to go to metro as its network is crapy. i went to qpst and cdma and reverted everything back to how it was, so i dont see why it would mess up my 3G
i have no idea what else to do, any help will be greatly appreciated.
If it is 1x, that shows the true data strength. You may have excellent connection, but poor data in that area, or the server is just temporarily overloaded. It'll correct itself. Previously, sense roms would always show 3G even if it was a 1x connection, but most developers put in that fix to show the true strength, like in aosp.
Thanks for the reply. the thing is that my wife has an evo as well and shes right next to me and gets perfect 3g data connections, and i was getting error 67 upon trying to update prl and profile. as soon as i did the reset on the ##data## it went away, and now it wont even connect to 1x at all...man its so frustrating, ive searched and search but nothing.
same thing has happened to me, tried chatting 3 times, and called tech support once, so far no data.
try this...i did not work for me at all but it might work for you...good luck buddy you'll need it lol...this crap is frustrating as hell.

ive had similar problems... just flashed a rom,, 3g working but hotspot isnt.... i need help too
Sense ROM's show 3G to identify a data connection, while the bars are actually displaying the voice connection. I believe aosp ROM's strickly display the data speed since voice reception is generally good. This may just be a placebo affect and you think you have poor 3G. I would suggest running a speed test on both ROM's (your current one and the one you found "good" data speeds on) to ensure that it's not the ROM itself.

I've got the same exact issue, but I've been on Synergy for a while now. As of last night though, no 3g... My France's unrooted EVO works just fine, and I've been in a few different areas, so I know it's not the tower. I've done the same things the OP has done and still nothing... Is it possible for the Rom to fry out the 3g??

Ok ive got mines working. However its still a little sketchy but atleast 3g doesnt go away. After going tjrough the steps in my last post, I did ##786# and resetted everything. Then reflashed my rom and walah!
This worked for me.
Step 1: Open dial pad , ##3282# enter
Step 2: Select "Edit Mode", then input your MSL number
Step 3: Select "Data Profile", then press menu button
Step 4: Select "Restore", then press ok. Should reboot on it's own. If not reboot.
You said you did something similar but figured it wouldn't hurt.
I did that, but didnt work for me. However every phone is different and every little bit helps.

Ok so first of all I have straight talk sim installed
Secondly after a vast internet search my apn is correct and workin. All in one, no split mms.
Thirdly I have a good connection 4 bars
Fourthly I have staid in the same location the whole time
Any ideas?
The 4g icon stays there but just no activity, resetting the antena works for fixing this

I doubt it has anything to do with Simple Mobile. I have T-Mobile, and regardless of how long my phone has been on I'm getting bad data issues. This has started within the last two days. I am always in one of two places, work or home. I used to get awesome data speeds at work, and average speeds at home. But now my phone will show that I have 4G and full bars, then it will change to the Edge icon with very little bars, and then the data icon will disappear completely. I have no idea why this is happening. My old S2 for sprint did the same thing. If it continues I'm gonna have to get rid of this beautiful phone.

when I flashed AOKP's rom and using this rom almost half year
there has a crazy problem is about the T Mobile H+ signal
I remember that I used the stock rom showing the 4G icon everytime. and speed really fast.
but now I'm using the AOKP's rom when you using the H+ maybe just five minutes the network signal change to E(EDGE) or 3G
and network just stopped alittle while like 5-25 seconds then returned back to H+ or H
the problem make me crazy,
I searched in google sometimes but I didn't find any answer, maybe I just use wrong keyword on it.
so, anyone knows this issue? and how to solve that?
AOKP was released a 4g_signal.zip but it could not work right now on the android 4.2.2 ...

It's not an issue.. the TMO S3 has only been supporting the HSPA+ bands at most and that is our 4G. When you flash an AOSP ROM it will display H+, which are the bands your on when your network is originally displayed as 4G on a stock ROM. H+ is displayed while data is being transferred. When no data is being transferred your data will bump down to UMTS or EDGE, which displays as your 3G, to conserve more battery. It's something you're gonna have to get used to on AOSP ROMs

Actually, no it does not jump down to Edge when there is no data pull (and you'll use MORE battery, because its search for the 4G network). When there is no data pull, it will display (on custom ROMs) as 3G. When it pulls data, it will show either H or H+. You already know that T-Mo network (exception of the LTE cities) has no difference between their 4G and 3G.
Now, you said that you're getting edge every once in a while. Try flashing a new radio. But, I'm confused, because you said you're trying to flash a 4G zip onto 4.2. There hasn't been a 4G zip even for a long time on 4.1. It won't work with most 4.1 ROMs, as the last time I saw a 4G zip it was for a specific updated of AOKP. Anyway, how long has the issue been going on since you started dipping down to Edge at certain times?

My mistake. That is what I was initially referring to. I should have said H+ displays AFTER data has been pulled. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I lost my IMEI and restored it after. My phone is a Tmobile phone but I am using it for the At&t network. However, I always had the 4g sign show up prior to losing my IMEI. Now when i reboot my phone it will show 4g sign at first and then after 5 minutes it will change to edge while also constantly having the reception bars going up and down. Is there a way to fix this please? Thank you in advance

So, yesterday I flashed my phone from lollipop to kitkat after a version for my phone was finally released due to a member of this community(thank you <3) and everything went smoothly and I had no hiccups during the process... but once I restarted my phone, I noticed I didn't have 1x, 3g, or 4g as a signal indicator but I had full service and I could make calls.... just no texts or data.
Any idea how to fix this? I should note I'm using nTelos.... and it's CDMA.
I can sometimes get it to connect to 3g using an APN edit in the hidden settings but after like 5 minutes it goes back to full bars and no data connectivity.
