[ICS] [JB] Airplane Mode 4G Switching... Problems - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So i've been playing with ICS and JB 4g's lately. I do a lot of tethering and for personal reasons i need to change ips everytime i connect to certain locations. Anyhow, i have tested this and it appears that no modem makes any difference, 4g no matter what i do on ICS or JB "rom" automatically keep the same ip address, for a good amount of time.I'm not saying it will never change, but it's not as simple as for example the original Caulkland rom, where everytime you disconnect and reconnect 4g the IP will change. Anyone else experience this or any other work arounds? Besides just staying on 3g? On 3g it does reset in JB and ICS when you do airplane mode, but not 4G. This also doesn't reset by manually switching off 4g and back on.
I suppose this is a new thing by the android developers and not really a sprint thing. Maybe things are different on the iphone? I was going to upgrade to an S3 this blackfriday, but i think i will pass as i can just run an old rom on my S2.

Did you check if ip changes on stock FH13 or FI27?

[Q] Perhaps a Custom Rom for Pageplus?

Sounds like a silly request... but see if my train of thought makes any sense.
Background: I have an evo running on pageplus. I've followed the tut's, and had sporadic 1xRTT data working. I also tested running the phone using the verizon (pp) setup for mobile profiles, being simply one profile rather than the three required for it to connect to data.
What I've discovered (using the debug tool ##DEBUG#) is that using the three data profiles, the phone never authenticates for EVDO, and thus, stays at 1X, but the data does work. Using one profile, the phone does authenticate, but the connection never actually starts. I've read that it is because of the way the sprint provisioning works. Needless to say, at 1X battery life is horrendous.. as the phone is constantly trying to authenticate with EVDO cell bands. With EVDO and 1 profile, battery life is fantastic, but there's no data stream.
SO... I'm not sure if the final step of data startup (where the phone checks to see if it is using a sprint mobile data or verizon mobile data) is part of the ROM, or coded somehow into the radio firmware (or both).
I was thinking of trying to port a rom from, say, an incredible or Eris (any VZW phone).. to see if it'll actually start data with true 3G.
I figure XDA is the best place to ask.. these forums have been indispensable to me for all my phone nerding needs. =-)
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Bueller.. anyone? anyone? Frye?
I'd really love to flash CM9 or an ICS ROM on my Page Plus carried Evo4G, I had it flashed on when I went through Sprint but, what precautions should Itake and is it even possible? Sorry for the bump, I searched and searched and couldn't find info about this since Feb so I'm finally asking

[Q] 4G connected, no ip address?

So I recently flashed to gb rom starskyrom.. everything seems to be working fine but lately, 4g connects and doesnt find ip address. Ill have an idle 4g icon ( sleeping zzz...) but when I go to wireless settings>4g settings> and check the sprint 4g network it says ip address 0.0.0.0... but I'm connected? Because it thinks I'm connected, it won't fall back to 3g.. anyone else experiencing this? Does it have todo with signal strength? Maybe my rom?... but it was workin before... my modem? Any thoughts

Just got back from work, the 4g is broken on starsky 4.0, not sure how I thought it was working, but its not.
Not sure what would cause it, I'm also using starsky and have no problems with 4G.
Try the basic fixes
Reboot
clear and re flash
etc
If that don't work, it may be a problem with the network in your area.
Like the day I started trying ei22 roms and utah had its 3g die. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong.
So you have the same symptoms as described above?

[Q] ICS roms not letting you change 4G IP ADDRESS?

So i decided to go from an old Calk rom to the new "rekalked" after i figured out that ICS was the issue with another rom.. but i guess recalked is also ics... is it an ics issue? Airplane mode/ 4g on and off don't work... always comes back to same IP 3g does cycle.. but 4g doesnt

ROM that can handle 4g to 3g handoff?

So I've tried using some ROMs but I've never been able to find one that can handle switching from 4g to 3g. Only the stock ROM can do this without losing connection, otherwise I have to turn on airplane mode every time i move from 4g to 3g. Is there a ROM out there that can do this?
Um just about all roms can do this without issue. CM10 can as well as all touchwiz based roms. What rom have you tried so far?

This sounds like a signal outage kinda thing, maybe, is there official lte in your area? If not, id avoid using it. Even then its sketchy. So maybe, when you cycle netween the two, it detects the other signal and tries to connect and drops it? If airplane mode your signal will get better coming out.

[Q] Bell Canada i747m losing connection

hey gang i'm running the latest aokp task650 build on my S3 I747m. Everything works awesome, except i occasionally lose my data connection. I'll notice my connection status bars are gray, and typically a reboot will fix it. I'm sure going into airplane mode and back out from that would re-establish the connection too.
my APN is set correctly, i compared it to a friends nexus which is not rooted.
Right now i'm set as pda.bell.ca
I've flashed the latest bell modem file (that i'm aware of).
Anyone have any suggestions? i'm pretty new to all of this.. not sure what to do to troubleshoot.

I've been having problems lately when I have poor 4G (LTE) signal. My phone would rather hang around on the LTE network with little to no signal before it switches over to 3G. It's been doing this for a while on the Rogers network for me. I can see when I check the battery stats just how much time is spent without signal which is a lot. At work I get full bars 3G when at my desk but very poor 4G. The only thing causing me to loose signal is the poor transition back and forth between the two networks. Changing modems has absolutely no affect on this matter and I've put the APN's and network modes through the ringer with no change either. I've tried it all and nothing improved it. When I walk outside I immediately hit full bars 4G. Just when I'm inside my work and at home, I get poor lingering 4G. I wish the thresholds for when it switches over were better. I usually just turn off LTE all together which sucks but oh well.
I don't think we are the only people with this either. I've read grumblings about others noticing the same thing.
If curious, I'm running the latest CM10.1 nightly with Ktoonsez kernel on the Rogers network in Ottawa.
Interesting, that could very well cooincide with what i'm seeing. I tend to bounce from 4G to H+ or 3G, i wonder if it's trying to hang onto 4G.
Is there a way to force it to stay on 3G? that might be a good test
I was getting the same issue.
I did a factory reset and reinstalled my ROM plus GAPPs and the issue resolved itself.
I am using the latest modern right now and not my bell one. I think it's from a south American carrier, but bit 100% sure of the top of my head. But it is in the current modern thread
