[Q] No wifi on kindle fire? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My kindle fire has wifi when its on stock, but when I put it on any custom rom it will see some wifi networks but it wont see mine. Also whenever I turn on my wifi on my kindle it will turn off the wifi router.

Sounds like a router problem. Try connecting to another wifi location and take a look at your router settings.

Hi,
Is it and old rom?
Because there was a wifi update.

Try downloading the newest cyanogenmod 10 ROM and installing it. There was a new update that made the WiFi work

Connecting to hotspot ad hoc network

The ROM I'm using on my Incredible 2 will only provide a wifi hotspot via an ad hoc network, but my rooted Kindle Fire (ICS) will not connect. I've researched but can't find a solution. Any ideas?? Thanks for your help.

I've used wifi tether beta, but I'm trying to connect to an ad-hoc network from my computer. I cannot use infrastructure mode. CM10 Roms do not seem to like ad-hoc networks (at least when created by a desktop).
Thanks for the suggestion though.

AD HOC WiFI in Jellybean with rom 1.8.2
I have successfully installed Kindle fire jelly Bean 1.8.2 .
I refer to f1259 in JANDYCANE development forum.

After I click "wifi direct", KF shows "searching device..." in 5 seconds, and my KF reboots automatically. I tried several times with same result. I reinstalled rom and reinstalled Gapps, no change.
The whole new Jandycane Rom 1.8.2 is wonderful.
I have a Nokia E71 with JOIKUSPOT 3.2 ad hoc mounted.
Using a Google play sourced app "BARNACLE" I cannot 3G connect , but know the Ad-Hoc features in Jellybean on branded phones works, I am keen to see this feature work in the new ROM in tablet form.
I should add I have a very stable WiFi connect in infrastructure mode to my office router or neighborhood Hot spots.
Any one doing work in this ad hoc area area?
Thanks in anticipation. The work of this community is truly awesome!

Same thing happens me with Kindle. I'm using the CM10/SGT7 ROM. It sees my phone but I cannot connect. After a few seconds, my Kindle reboots. I've tried 3 times but same thing every time.

connecting to Kindle fire from 3g router problem

I live in Australia and have a Kindle fire which is wifi only. When I try to connect to the internet through a 3g modem and Hauwei router I can get the Kindle to connect with a good strong signal, but I can't open a web page. There is a small x near the wifi icon.
The Kindle will connect ok when I use my SG 2 as a hot spot, so it seems the router or modem may be the problem. BTW, I was only able to get the phone hot spot working only by installing the App Foxfi. I was hoping that someone could suggest an App that I could install on my Kindle that would help.

[Q] Netflix connection issue Stock Kindle Fire

I have a Kindle fire and LG Thrill. Both are able to connect and watch netflix with no issues on other networks, but fail to connect on my home network. Browser works Youtube other streaming video works. Is there something special that needs to be setup in the router? I know this is a development site but hopefully someone can help a noob. Thanks.
There have been some recent changes to Netflix that enables WiFi multicast maybe your router has an issue with this. Try enabling multicast on your router see if that doesn't solve your problem.
That fixed it thanks

[Q] Problems with WiFi in CM9 on Kindle Fire

So I'm a noob....yeah....with that said....
I rooted my Kindle Fire and Installed TWRP then flashed CM9.
Everything looks and runs smooth but when searching for WiFi it finds hotspots all over the neighborhood except for the one in my house.
I'm running a cheap D-Link router that works good enough for what I need..
WEP security
Mixed g,n,b
Channel Width is set to Auto 20/40 MHz
The Kindle Fire was able to pick up my WiFi before I flashed the new ROM.
Any help for a noob here?
