Has anyone managed to get aosp jelly bean email and exchange apk working on TW rom? I got really used to it in ICS TW rom. I'd love to get them back if possible.

Im using it on mine (LJ7.) I use the inverted version from Travp624 but I themed it with the touchwiz icon. Try it, but you will have to wipe data on your email and exchange and then add your email accounts again to get it to work.

Here is a flashable zip. These are previously from my theme, but they dont jive when flashed over the touchwiz email. Use a file manager and delete SecEmail.apk and SecExchange.apk from your system, then flash this. Just to be safe, after you flash it go to you apk manager and clear the data on email and exchange then add your account/s. Here is a preview:

I have a few questions if you guys don't mind. I have a boost mobile s2, which is the same as the epic 4g touch. I am rooted and have a custom rom, pac in back (jb, aosp). I am looking for a native email app(apk) that has a widget. I posted my issue in another thread and I was sent here. I don't want to get rid of the Gmail app I have. On my HTC evo v I had, I had Gmail and this other native app that would allow me to set it up for yahoo. That's what I would like again. After reading this thread, does this replace the Gmail app. Someone in the other thread gave me a link to a mail apk but it wouldnt move to systems app. In the systems app folder, there is something called exchangeservices that looks like a email icon, is this the native email app, or is this Gmail? I am a noob when it comes to this stuff. Just trying to understand . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone.
I just wanted to share an ultra prestine build of the latest AOSP source, sync'ed tonight and compiled clean. I know there are ROMs with all sorts of great mods, pieces taken from CM9 and AOKP, linaro optimization, etc.... that isn't this ROM. This is simply the latest Google source of 4.0.4 IMM76L with root and busybox.
I built it for me and thought I'd share. Feel free to use it... or not.
As always, don't forget to Nandroid.
ROM:

3/12/12 11:30pm - Updated so reported model is "Galaxy Nexus". Thanks al2x for pointing it out.
The latest ICS GAPPS work for this one too:

MODS:
The following mods I've tested and work with this ROM:
Mods found in mwalts AOSP ROM also work for mine.

I don't think anything is taken out from vanilla to prevent you from using a tethering app for rooted phones in the market. I don't tether so I don't know for sure though.
I was referring to the native ICS tethering option under "More..." in "Settings". I'll try it out and update my own post with an answer.
This is great, I hope you can continue this style of being 100% stock with root/bb as the updates continue to flow for the GN...
I'm going to be flashing soon but I do tether so I hope it bypasses the subscription check...
It does not bypass the subscription check. but I'm pretty sure an edit of the framework.apk can fix that.
I'll try to update op with some mods tomorrow.

Thanks. I think I found the changes. I'll give it a shot when I get home from work.
Updated OP with Tethering, Menu, and Battery mod links.
mmuzzy, I've been using the ROM and it's been pretty snappy. The first flash didn't go so well, there were a few force close/force waits but i reflashed it now with a new download and I think it's been good.
One request is if you could possibly edit the name computers pickup as the MTP device... it recognizes it as "Full AOSP on Toro-VZW" rather than simply "Galaxy Nexus" lol
If there is any way you could include the stock Galaxy Nexus boot animation, that would be great, otherwise this rom is great!
thanks

Edit #2: saw a thread about a differnt rom needing specific gapps and without them it would do that gonna flash the ones from OP even though I have the 429 gapps already
Edit #3: thought that fixed it but it didn't. Maybe with a clean install with the gapps. I'll have to try in the morning.
Edit...again: more searching is bringing up that the ICS dictionary is missing or that there is a problem with the keyboard apk.

That's strange. I had the Dictionary issue until I used this APK.
I navigated to where the APK was in ES Explorer, clicked it, it asked if I wanted to replace the system file and after that I had word suggestions as I type.

That is strange. I also notice that unlike what I had happening you actually have some words that aren't highlighted. So either you added them or maybe the language isn't set? In the Notification area does yours say "English (US)" in input method when the keyboard is up?
Stock phone log gets clogged up with all sent and received SMS logs and I've come across many requests to remove this annoying feature. So based on information provided on XDA (I'd give explicit credits but can't find the original threads) I put together a mod that will prevent SMS and MMS from showing up in the log.
This will only prevent new messages from showing up in the log so after installing this you might need to clear your old log.
Instructions: Put the NoSMSLog_UCALG1.zip in /sdcard folder on your phone and install with Clockworkmod recovery.
I have tested this only on a Samsung Galaxy s3 with rooted stock AT&T rom including the latest update.
(This might also work without CWM by renaming file to update.zip and installing with stock recovery but I haven't tested this.)
Edit: Some have reported errors when flashing so I'm posting the apk and odex file so you can replace the files yourself with root explorer. Both files are supposed to go in the system/app folder and you'll have to mount rw permissions in root explorer.
LogsProvider.zip
Update: It should work now, I've updated the mod.

It's been reported that it keeps resetting itself every time the phone is restarted but most importantly some people don't want that stuff logged.

If this mod is based on this one, this solution removes the logs which is a bad idea, and this may cause Email app FC.
You can follow this HowTo, it just set the "View by" to "All calls".

It's not based on the post you mentioned (I actually don't know what method was used there), when I find the original thread I'll be sure to give credit.

Kind of dumb that it doesn't.. Thanks for the mod!
its for the men who talk to other chics behind their girlfriend/wife's back. so when the wife checks the phone, she won't see the logs. women be getting smarter about checking stuff in men's phones

Just to clarify, this mod only prevents new entries in the log. You need to manually delete your old call log. You can test this by sending yourself a text message - it will not show up in your log.

As far as I know error 6 relates to something missing in the script and I double-checked again - the script is fine.
Which carrier are you with? Are you rooted? Do you have the latest update (UCALG1)? Which version of CWM are you using? Does it start flashing and then stop?

Well I just tested it on a different phone and got the same error but I don't have time to figure this out now so I'll just post the apk and odex files which you'll need to push to system/apps and replace the existing files. You can do this with root explorer - you'll have to mount with rw permission.
EDIT: Never mind, figured it out - It works now (script had one cr too many). I've updated the mod in the first post.

No, I deleted the system app calendar storage and now of course my calendar will not work. I didnt realize all calendars use this for data. Since I was installing a non stock calendar i deleted it thinking it was just part of the stock calendar.
If someone would be so kind to just give me that as a apk i'd be set and wouldnt have to flash a stock rom and start all over again.
Just not ready to flash a custom rom till i get service activated on the phone with a new carrier.

Hi Miztaken1312, thanks for the offer to help.
I'm after the calendar storage stock process its a system file not a d/led apk. I think if you used titanium you could just back up this process and I could restore it the same way cant remeber the full name of it but just look for calendar storage

I'm after the calendar storage stock process its a system file not a d/led apk. I think if you used titanium you could just back up this process and I could restore it the same way cant remeber the full name of it but just look for calendar storage
thanks for your help

Found it in TiBu. The backup for that actually consists of two files, one of which I named for you earlier. It is the "SecCalendarProvider.apk" and the accompanying .odex file. If you're still on stock, you can drop both into /system/app and make sure it has "rw-r-r--" permissions for both.

I have made a similar misttake. Does anyone know the name of the touchwiz calendar widget. After rooting my phone with the stock rom and touchwiz as the default launcher my calendar widget disappeared from my app drawer. I do not even know what it is called. Can someone upload the correct file? Thanks.

I have made the same mistake on an ASUS Tablet (Memo HD 7). Will the APK provided in this thread work?
ouch, I just saw it's a thread from August 2012. Sorry!

Just find your stock rom, go into the zip and find the apk you need. Copy it to your system/app and reinstall.

I also had the same problem and tried installing the file you provided. It is clearly there but I cannot install it using ES File Explorer. I gave it the permissions you mentioned but to no avail. I am out of my wits already. I even tried flashing a stock rom just so I can get this thing back but I cannot even do that either. I am about to cry...I am so frustrated with my phone! PLEASE HELP!

Just Flash Group SecMMs Touchwiz Addon [insert your rom here].zip then flash Group MMs on TW framework [insert your rom here].zip [It will wipe your messages] Backup Before Flashing.
You should be able to flash this on any themed stock ROM without losing your theme
But just in case:
I have added the changed smali file in Group MMS on TW smali.zip for any dev that wants to add these features to their themed secmms.apk
Update 3/17
Made one for stock and inverted Novella Dos [If you are still getting FC send me your Secmms.apk and I will look at it]
Update 3/18
Turns out at least from the SecMms.apk files I have gotten so far that they are all different so I will have to do one for each ROM. I removed the other files so that there would be no confusion. [Let me know how it goes]
Update 3/20
Heck Yes!!! Got it working on Novella Dos, I do not have any iphone friends so I cannot test that, please let me know if you guys have any problems and please be aware that I just got this working and am sharing it with the community. The Group mms on Tw framework.zip file will wipe out your messages so Backup before you flash it. Make sure to make a flashable zip of your framework2.jar or backup your whole ROM.
The standard framework was for Novella Dos. If that doesn't work for you send me the framework2.jar from your ROM.
4/18
I got a lot of the bugs worked out and removed the slideshow that I hated. v2 has all of the changes. Just wanted to make it easier to flash.
Just Flash Group SecMMs Touchwiz Addon [insert your rom here].zip then flash Group MMs on TW framework [insert your rom here] v2.zip [It will wipe your messages] Backup Before Flashing.
Also for anyone interested I made a mod for the speech bubbles, all of them should be replaced.
AOSP Group MMS
Just Flash Group MMS on Tw [insert your rom here].zip [It will wipe your messages] Backup Before Flashing.
Great work. Big thanks for this. I have yet to have a need for the function myself, but I know this is a highly desired mod here in our community.
Thanks for your contributions.

You can just push the stock SecMms.apk into system/apps. You can get it from a TouchWiz based ROM.
I'm getting FCs with this as well and I'm running ATT CleanRom SE 1.5. I don't know if you want me to send you my SecMMS.apk as requested or if you're already at work on this. I've been beginning for this mod for ever. Would really appreciate a working apk. Thanks!

Hey regulusv7, I installed the CleanRom SE 1.5 app and it doesn't FC, which is great, but when I send a group text it adds it to a thread to "Anonymous" recipients and the replies come back to individual threads. I wiped caches and fixed permissions so not sure what else I can do. Perhaps some of the others are having better luck. Thanks again!
Will this work with Skyrom 8.5?
Would this also work with the new CleanROM 4.6?
Awesome work btw!!!

Hi All,
Just a quick note to those that keep up with this thread, as you would have seen I haven't been very active of late.
Unfortunately, at this point in time I am too busy with "real life" to sink time into this project.
I am not abandoning this project, there are many things I have planned and am working on to extend and improve upon this theme. When time permits I will finish what I have started and release a new version.
In the meantime there are plenty of users that have used this theme for a while and can help you with any issues you may have.
If I haven't replied to your quote, mention or PM, I will endeavour to do so in the coming week.
Thanks.

Feast your eyes on All Backs Black for Note3 TW 4.4+ (Rooted) Odexed or Deodexed by the original creator @Kdio.
This is a tried and proven theme that has been implemented on both the S3 & S4. In saying that, this is not a port, this theme was made ground up by Kdio and myself for the Note3.
Some users install this theme for battery efficiency; I prefer to use it purely for aesthetics I find it more pleasing to the eye than the stock TouchWiz interface colours.
For those of you that prefer something simple and done right or would like a reported 20% more battery, this theme is probably for you.
Neither I nor the original creator of this theme are responsible for any damage you do to your device. Flash at your own risk.
A few words from the Man you should be grateful to if you decide to flash and use this theme.
Theme Creator Kdio said:
Objective:
As extensively researched by the community, the use of black backgrounds in OLED (AMOLED and Super AMOLED) devices may lead to a gain up to 20% more battery juice. As related information, you can find some maths here and this xda experiment.
If, as is mine, your main device concern is lifetime and not the looks, give this a try and share your experience. Mine has been fantastic!

There are no apk replacements for SecEmail_J in this theme, it'll only theme apks in your rom. If the apk isn't there, it'll bypass it and just keep going along to the next app.
Thus, if it's not in the vrtheme folder, then it's not getting touched. If it is, and you don't like the themed app for that item, copy/paste the unthemed original to your SD card and you can always push that back to system, app.

You weren't the first to come across this problem fletch and won't be the last. When I get the time I will look at doing the S5 Email as an apk to stem this issue.
Also, if you want to remove/add something to the zip, just open it with 7Zip make the changes and close when finished. Happy Flashing :good:
