Great battery life and everything works flawlessly. Don't need to do any special tweaking or disabling or vodoo to get good battery life and have a stable phone.

I'm on GB too unnamed rom now.I just wish there were more GB roms out.

I am also. Because it is way smoother than ics. Really the only reason battery wise I got same on ics as gb. But can't wait to get the jb update!

Just switched back to UnNamed for the weekend. When i need to 100% depend on my phone, GB is always there for me and never fails me.
Unforuntely Im a flash addict so i will keep switching roms. But can always depend on good ol' gingerbread

I keep a Blazer 4.1 always ready and load it regularly to update apps then re-backup. By far the most reliable I've had. I'm on venum Fi27 right now. Its the best ICS I've had so far.

better battery life...

I don't know if anyone is picking up on the trends here. But you will notice people basically stating they either use or in some way shape or form revert back to gb to get things done or perform functions that should be trivial. With that in mind it becomes clearer and clearer that samsungs implementation (not Google) of ics is seriously flawed. I can only pray that jb doesn't turn out like ics.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app

Surprised to see the support for gb. I do live the battery life, but the ui of ics is just too nice.
With that said, is calk's Rom still considered the best gb Rom? I've seen unnamed and phantom mentioned as well.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

I'm on calks 3.0 and I love this Rom and the battery life.. don't get me wrong, I love ics/jb bells and whistles and the customization but the stability of a gb rom can't be beat until all the bugs are ironed out... but who knows, maybe when ics /jb is really official and there's an officialcustom kernel built, I don't see gb being beat...
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

On Calkulin GB rom
Only reason still on GB is not sure how to pop up to ICS or Jelly a little confused and looking for a good how to upgrade breakdown tutorial.

I would've stayed on blazer or any gingerbread if YouTube and Songza were usable, no 4G in my area and those apps would just keep loading on 3g. I honestly don't see any difference in battery life with gingerbread and the newer ICS roms, only slight speed difference.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

i went to JB/ICS but the download speeds are so much slower for me on them so i stick to GB to tether to my laptop.

Me. just all around more stable and faster to me.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

I'm running blazer 4.1 because the GB data speeds/ping are better than ICS/JB. I can't stand the touchwiz super-scroll and AOSP ICS/JB still has the 4G bug. Once AOSP fixes the 4G bug I will update. I have never had battery problems on any Rom.

100% working ROMs?

Which are fully functional? As in no real issues separate from stock? I'm having trouble sifting through the tons of WIP ICS roms and older closed threads. Which have no real issues? Thanks guys.

If you are referring to ICS Tom's only, then none currently. They are all 99% functional though. There are some minor issues that need to be resolved and will likely not be resolved until more leaks out or T-Mobile releases some juicy code. If you are ok with some little things to be a little wonky, go for it. I advise to look for the Tom's that are constantly being updated. Since the skyrocket leak the rom world has exploded for the t989. It is only getting better and will continue to get better and more refined as time goes on and more bugs get squashed. Looks like the least buggy is blackedition but by tomorrow another may be less buggy with someone else's next release...!

[KERNEL] Synergy v0.10 [CK3+, Autogrouping, OC, UV, BFQ, BLN, OTG]
[ROM] Telus SGH-T989D Stock, Rooted, Lightly Tweaked, 100% [CIQ Free]
Only trouble for me is the echo while calling but maybe not related at all with the ROM itself. Give it a try it wont bite.
I have tried them all, and by far the EasyDoesIt GB2.3.6 rom has given me the best results.

Prior to ics, I was running Malice. No problems at all, fast with consistent 16+ hours on battery.
For ICS, EasyDoesIt GB2.3.6 rom wins by a landslide. Raverx3x just dropped an update for his twiz rom which I have yet to try, but I'm content with EasyDoesIt. Using it as my DD with absolutely no flaws except for auto rotate but who needs that with our huge screen?

Could you get Pdroid working on this ROM? I tried and it failed
The rom i have right now that seems to work fully is the new Malice 2 ROM that has been updated on April 2nd. The update made it even better and i installed darkside kernel into it because it actually comes with faux kernel but darkside is by far the best imo...and under clocked it to 1404. Everything works even the sending MMS thru wifi. I have 67% battery life right now and my phone has been on for almost 7 hours with average to moderate use. Try it its one of the best Roms out right now. Its not a ICS rom but its close to 100% working though.

So I'm asking for sort of a review of smoothness and speed of the new fd roms compared to fc18 or fc22. Thanks for your input?

Exactly why I said hold off. There hasn't been a noticeable improvement since the mid fc15 builds.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I had some problems with FD02 but it may have been applications. Some applications would freeze the phone or sometime just bringing up messages would lock the phone up. I would just have to wait for lock screen, then unlock and see what crashed. The older versions seem slightly more stable in my experience.
If you are working fine, stable with FC22 there's no reason to be flash crazy. Right now they all have their own issues that seem to be a bit different for everyone.
Wait until a Beta finally shows up, or you hear a lot of rave about a certain new leak and try then.. but right now not 'much' is changing from one leak to another.
huge difference the fd05 is the smoothest release yet
definitely flash
I normally don't upgrade til at least three builds newer are out if that makes sense. Unless there is a huge improvement. I am on FD02 and will most likely stay on it until FD10 is released, if it is released. If you are on a setup right now and its working for you. Hang tight. Cause as soon as you flash FD02/05 then FD10 will be out. Just my thoughts on it.
Are you guys talking about Modem or Kernel?
I have been running the FD10 Modem and Kernel on a FD02 build for the last few days and honestly it seems silky smooth for me. No scripts or undervolting at this point and so far I am getting good battery life out of it too.
I'm on calkulin's E4GT2 v.1.4. (FD02). The only bugs I've seen are that some apps aren't compatible, and the sound notification issue. It doesn't support boot animations and i wouldn't chance flashing any themes. It does support different launchers like go launcher so you can theme it that way. Other than that it is very smooth and solid with EVERYTHING else working including hotspot. Good battery life and no over heating. Came from blazer 4.1 which is awesome and very customizable but caused some battery issues. Although there is a stick FD10 posted in the Dev section, there aren't any custom Roms running on FD10. So I'm gonna stick with Calkulins fdo2 until i see something better. I have tried the goodness and its also good but only 4g hotspot. I need 3g so it was a no.go. Hope this was helpful and as far as SOLID ROMS GO Calkulins are the beast! Thanks calk for all you do. Always go with him first. Sent from my E4GTouch myself oh baby i love this phone

Back to the one truly perfect rom (Calk's EL29) for me, too. I've tried ICS in many flavors (Calk's, mijj's, Phantom's) and they all have various issues. Be it poor battery life, MMS not working, audio bugs, Pandora not playing, GPS not locking, whatever, ICS sucks on the E4GT. The only ICS ROM that I've had any success with was CM9, but I use AllShare almost daily so that isn't a go for me.

I dont get how you all are having issues with ICS Ive used ROMs from Venum, and other members of Team Venum. Using Dazed's Wicked Sensation 1.5 now. Great battery life, plenty fast for me. I did change the Kernel and modem to FF02 though. seems to work best for my phone. Ive used Blend, Blu Kuban, Anakonda, Boa, ICE, AOKP, CM9, Frankenstein's ego. Never had an issue with any of them. Well... except for not flashing AOKP right a couple times. Got it figured out fairly quickly Even running Placebo tweaks and havent had issues at all. One thing or another may not work on one ROM or another. but always found a work around for them. Im just learning all this stuff though. Havent really gotten in to the meat an potatos of it all yet. But Im learning.
Anyways... long answer just to say I Love ICS. Cant wait to try Jellybean.

Even resorted going back to stock ota and bringing the phone to Sprint so they could look at it. GB is the place to be for me and my bandwidth. I just wish the forum would branch sub cats for ics and GB users so I don't have to scroll for 20 mins looking for old GB roms

What Rom Should I get?

I've been on Calkulins EGT.ROM from the get go and I loved that he was always on top of his ROM. Now that he has bailed this ROM has gotten old and outdated. I want some suggestions on what Rom I should jump to next. Right now I'm on Calkulin's E4GT v3.0 EL29 using modem FB21. Last few weeks I've been trying out different modems but none seem to work out for me. I'm in Central California if that makes a difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also if this still is the best ROM available can you tell me what modem is working the best for you? I've tried so many I forgot which one was giving me the best battery life and connection.
Stay on whatever modem works best for you man, it varies area to area phone to phone.... insofar as roms I'm loving sbrissens aosp jelly bean, which is extremely stable for an alpha and a great daily driver... should you want something that's 100% more or less though I'd look into either blue Kuban or goodness, both of which are ics touchwiz based like caulks ROM...

GPS is what it is and its just a matter of trying different modems till you figure out what works best for you... insofar as battery how old is your phone? Might be time for a new one, does it spin freely when you set it on a flat surface? And that being the case I would for sure just go with blue kuban or goodness those are probably the most stable easiest ICS ROMs we have...

Battery life is subjective based on use habits and what apps you have installed. However, blu kuban has served me very well, especially since the "battery life issue" (according to Samsung/Sprint) update of fh13.

I was using CM9 for a while on it but the GPS seemed flakey from time to time. As far as on this model, does GPS work well with CM9? The main things I need the phone to do without fail is make phone calls and GPS.
With that said, would CM9 be the suggested route or another basic rom?

I believe you will need to go to ics to get those features. They are not available on GB kernal. If you are interrested in rooting and going with a custom rom, i would recommend CM9 for ics. I used it as a dd for weeks,. Its the way ics should work.
Blazer 4.1 or calkulins 3.0 have ex toggles and hotspot hack on gb, although ics is much more stable since fi27, you should try out a few roms and not just go by stock. Stock always sucks, that's why we root and rom if we wanted to be stuck stock we'd buy crapple

Make sure to do a clean install and not just upgrade retaining data. The changes between GB and ICS make for a huge flustercuck when you just update and don't fully wipe and start fresh. I was on ICS/JB since march, mostly aokp or PA and never had any issues except bad battery life when I got the bulge, after I replaced the battery I was getting ridiculous battery life on ics aokp 7+hrs screen on with 12hrs on battery or 28hrs+ on battery with 3.5-4hrs screen on
