Guys, can someone tell me what i'm missing? I followed this guide to root and S-OFF my phone, but just now i realized that i have no write access to /system partition. It isn't very important for me, since i'm flashing only rooted ROMs and when i need to gain write access to /system partition - i'm rebooting into CW Recovery, but... It would be handy to have it anyway
Some info form what i see in fastboot:
VISION PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.8.4.2000
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
Thank you in advance.
Did you verify that you have root? Use the Android Terminal Emulator, type su and if you get a #, you're good to go. If you do have root, just use Root Explorer and hit the R/W button while in the system folder.

Yes, i'm getting root permissions here.

When i press mount as R/W, nothing happens and i can't make any changes in /system partition.
Also, i tried Font Changer Lite (from Market), but i'm getting message:
"Write access for the system partition was not established on your device and therefore this application will have to be closed.
Please make sure your device has full root before you try again"
Am i missing something? Thanks for quick reply btw.
Using ADB
1. adb shell
2. mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 /system
3. exit

"mount -o rw,remount /system" should work too.
(you need to mount /system specifically as rw, by default it's still mounted read-only even if you have root/S-OFF)
Or simply:
adb remount
Love that No need to remember the blocks and hassle with the mount command

This is the best way I've found to do it, but it is only temporary.
Thank you guys very much, that worked
Edit: Font Changer Lite still complaining about permissions.
There's a /system remount app in the market lol

Sure, let's download an app for each ADB command, so then we can complain about having not enough of internal memory again
I know that sounded a little sarcastic lol, was in the bank waiting in line.
Seriously though, there's a one click remount app, its wonderful as I no longer have to use adb or a terminal to make /system rw

HeyHey people!
I was wondering, when I start Root Explorer I see at the top that I can mount it in "r/o and r/w" and when i click on "Mount r/w" it works.... but when I go into "system" folder it goes back to r/o... I can click on "Mount r/w" again but nothing happens....
I am wondering how I can change this because I need to copy over a service file but I canĀ“t do that in r/o .....
It worked once but after I flashed to new rom it just wont work :||
Does anyone know how I can mount as r/w ?
THANX!
Just reinstall busybox and root from cwm bootmenu.

Is there a way I can remove the gapps apk and replace it with the one in the market?

Use titanium backup, or es file explorer in es give root permission and mount file system.
Delete the apk, it will be in system/apps
Titanium is an easier option.
Or if your a boss
adb shell exec rm /system/app/(name of app without spaces I guess).apk

you can directly remove it via root explorer or manually like mentioned here:
download android emulator and type.
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblk3 /system
ls /system/app
rm /system/app/<app-name>
its done..
like for voicesearch type
rm /system/app/voicesearch.apk
I tried to activate my swap partition following this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1717782 but when I type "fdisk -l dev/block/mmcblk0" then appears this "fdisk: can't open 'dev/block/mmcblk0' : permission denied" someone know why?? or what can I do to active my swap partition
type "su" first to enable root acces for it

whenever i tried to change any values in build.prop there comes an error... but i copy it in memory card then editing and replacing is possible in system files... attaching the screenshot

1st please use Q&A thread for questions rather than creating a thread !!
You have to go through File manager settings and grant Root permission !!
permissions are set as superuser already... still same error..

Use ES File Explorer and grant Root (By sliding Left and Switch ON Root Explorer )
And Grant ROOT forever and try editing with the App navigating build.prop
