[Q] Flashtool help - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody. I'm having a problem with flashtool. I installed the drivers that say "Sony Ericsson xperia arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia PLAY, Xperia acro IS11S, Xperia acro SO-02C drivers", "Flashmode Drivers", and "Fastboot Drivers" I opened up flashtool and tried to put my phone in fastboot mode. My phone restarts, the blue light lights up, but after a couple seconds it says:
27/040/2012 04:40:12 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
27/040/2012 04:40:12 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.
Even after that message, the screen is still black and the blue light is still there so I think it's still in fastboot mode. But if I select "select kernel to flash", it says "This action can only be done in fastboot mode." I'm not sure why this is happening because I just installed the drivers. Maybe I installed the wrong ones? Any help is appreciated.

Also something I noted, when it's installing the drivers, it's saving it to a temp folder. IDK if this is supposed to happen, but I copied the files over to the "drivers" folder but it still doesn't work.

You've got to reinstall flashtool again. (I dont know what you did) Then go inside your C drive and locate the folder labled flashtool and open it. Once you done that locate the folder called drivers and accept all the permissions that goes along with it. There flashtool can identify your play.

I tried that and it still puts the files in the temp folder. Is there a way I can change the output folder when I download the drivers?

Check out the link for a photo to see what's happening

I fixed the problem. I tried my dad's laptop which has windows 7 and it worked fine. I guess flashtool doesn't like XP or something.

[Q] what/which drivers for arc?

Whilst attempting to use the flashtool to .181, I connect the phone in flash mode and it sais "please install or reinstall device drivers". I had extracted the fw to the firmware folder, and i presume I have to do something similar with the driver folder, however I am not sure what. There are three .rar folders in there but for x10 and x8, Do I use one of these or should there be drivers for the Arc in there?

There you go.
Extract the files and when you are asked point the folder containing the driver. I say it again,, the FOLDER not the file
am still not able to do it friend..........i even used device manager to update driver and when i point to the usb driver folder it says, file not found........
after installing SDK, did you install the "google usb driver package"?
yes i have installed the USB DRIVERS................but when updating i cannot find the bootloader file...........and even if point to that folder it says file not found.............
Well I just checked, I also do not have the *boot loader interface-file* in that directory.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers. The drivers need to be installed twice. Once in Android and once in fastboot. Computer will auto detect and install when you plug your phone in, in both modes.
Success. Thanks. Is there any way to check bl status directly in phone?

Prob I'm having is that my computer isn't auto detecting the driver. I don't get a prompt to select a path to the driver when I connect the phone in fastboot mode. If I add the commands specified by Sony in a command window the phone is connected, but when I enter 'fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY' I get the following-
Unlock phone requested
FAILED <remote oem unlock 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFF
I assume the driver isn't installed. I've tried adding it manually to the windows/inf folder. Any help would be much appreciated.

Phone is not found my computer

I have this strange problem, that I've had for a while. on plugging my xperia s into the computer PC companion doesn't find the phone no matter what I try. However if I select "Install PC companion " in settings, when I plug the phone in and select the option to install the software it does show up and I can use it fine.
But I would rather not have to do this every time I plug my phone in, is there a way to fix this? If I can remember correctly I had the same issue on GB and I flashed to ICS via flashtools which made no difference...
cheers
I have this problem too actually, I googled it and came across that answer of installing PC companion, which does the job but now I am trying to root the phone and reallly need this fixed so it is able to be rooted
thanks
Try add device under task manager, it'll detect a eerror with xperia s driver. Click fix and it will reinstall the phone driver. It should work afterwards.

under devices and printers? I selected add new device and plugged the phone in but it doesn't find it.
But actually it does show up in that window as 'LT26i' see the photo but when I click on it it doesn't really say anything
Is your device recognized by Windows ? I had the same problem until I installed the drivers. Check the device manager.
Not to say the obvious but did you install the driver package found in flashtool? It's not a button, rather in the folder that contains flashtool.exe there's another folder called drivers. Just run the file.

If nothing works, uninstall the drivers and PC companion. Reboot the PC. Connect the Phone to the PC and let it install PC companion again.
Here is something that worked for me:
go to settings-----storage----seetings----mtp on
after that my computer recognized the phone
I managed to fix the issue, by installing the .55 firmware with full wipe. I had ruled this out as the problem was there when I upgraded from GB to ICS.
But to the OP, if you are still having this issue I would recommend doing that as well. or try @memphis77's suggestion
cheers
Try to reinstall latest version PC Companion again ,and check in Devices and Printers.

[Q] [S] ADB Drivers - Help me rooting!

Hey guys,
My lovely Xperia S just got here on friday and I've tried to root it. However, the problem is that when I plugged it to my PC, the SEMC driver wasn't installed correctly, and now it just won't no matter the USB port I plug the device into.
I've read here on XDA that for the driver to be installed correctly now, only by restoring the phone. And I really don't wanna do that right now... Is there any other way around? Does someone know where I can download the ADB Driver for the S?
Thanks a lot!
Download and install flashtool from HERE and install drivers in C:\Flashtool\drivers or your installed directory.
It didn't work. And I'm using the latest flashtool (0.9.9.0)..
As soon as I plug my phone to the PC and it goes trying to install the driver, the phone boots up to the charging image (the little battery). And I'm pressind the volume down key, the green light shows up and everything, but the phone starts and the process ends...
If you haven't installed pc companion yet, try that or Sony update service. They install drivers when phone is connected

Once with my x10 I had to install android sdk just to get the drivers to work. It is a big install but it might save you from resetting the phone

Check THIS drivers. Maybe the drivers from phone is erased. So try this drivers.
Android SDK os also installed with all the drivers.
I'll try this Sony one! Where should I put them?
Extract the file somewhere like desktop. Right click Computer on desktop > Manage > Device Manager Find there is something like "Sony ******" when the phone is connected. Maybe there is yellow mark. Right click it > update driver software > Browse my computer for driver software > Browse (Select the folder you extracted) and install the drivers. Do this and let me know whether it is working or not.

It says "Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date. MTP USB DEVICE"
Try to uninstall it then re-install the drivers.

It's probably that. I just installed it on my notebook and it was successfully recognized.
Where are the drivers located, so I can wipe them all?
You can uninstall it by right clicking "Sony ******" And try to re install.

There's no Sony sa0103 on my device manager. I should manually delete the files (if there is any...)
It should be there when the phone is connected.

Or confirm your system. Is it a 64Bit or 32Bit OS, then use proparity Flashtool.
while you'll find all this info littered around the forum; i'll try to run down the exact order to install stuff...at least the order that worked for me...as flashtool, and your phone, seem to fight windows pretty hard at points...
this is all assuming a fresh start...uninstall the device, flashtool, etc if you have to: also this is for an Ion, but it works pretty much the same i'm assuming.
phone ON, MTP connectivity selected; connect to PC with usb cable. Don't touch anything at first. Windows should find and recognize both the internal and external flash drives of the phone (depending on device), and install necessary drivers. If you're using flashtool, i'd suggest not even bothering with the installation of PC companion. PCC will fight flashtool in some cases when connecting the phone, so if you do install it be sure and turn it off when connecting with flashtool.
Set all your autoplay settings to 'do nothing' or 'take no action' when prompted. This too will help prevent windows from trying to do multiple things when you connect with flashtool running.
now unplug the phone, turn it OFF...while holding the phone volume button DOWN...reconnect the usb cable and continue holding the button. This is where i get different results depending on what machine i'm using. My home computer gives a prompt for new hardware which eventually turns into 'SEMC flash driver installed'. My work computer prompted 'S1 Boot Driver installed'...in either case...flashtool would NEVER work right until one of these showed up...and in my case, trying to get this driver to install with flashtool running simply wasn't happening.
if that works, move on...you may have to keep trying that a few times, though. If the green LED light on the phone immediately turns off and the phone attempts to charge, you'll probably have to try again. For whatever reason windows doesn't always react the same, so it takes some patience.
Next install flashtool like normal. After that, find the usb_drivers.exe and run it. Regardless of phone, i just installed everything listed (even though, for my Ion, not one of them specifically says xperia Ion or LT28...)
after that...reboot computer
Now you should be good to go. I run AVG free on both machines, and it never seemed to fight flashtool, but some have said some anti-virus software will interfere...
load up flashtool, select your firmware (i'm assuming you've read how to do all that)...select what you want to do...connect phone with volume down pressed...hold until the flashing starts...and you should be fine.
