Hi, I changed from note to note 2, and just put my previous sd card into this new phone. But I realized that the stock gallery app won't show photos in my external sd. When I used app like quickpic it works perfectly.
Any ideas? Wish to stick to stock app but this is turning me off.

Try Rescan Media app from google play. if that doen't work, then try copying ur pics using KIES from PC.
I faced same issue. KIES solved it:cyclops:

I've been having troubles connecting in MTP mode since I bought this 32GB AData UHS-I uSD card.
First, didn't connect at all, deleted MTPApp data, checked "Install PC Companion" and sometimes it connects BUT I can't see the SD.
All is working in Mass Storage but it seems like MediaGo does something wrong and I can't see my music in my phone.
Also, I hate having things not working in my phone.
How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Me too....
But im too lazy to search for it. I just use MSC to transfer files....
This happens to me especially when you put MP3s on it. I don't know but if there weren't any MP3 files, the sd mounts quickly in MTP mode.
But if you wait awhile the sd mounts in MTP. Even though at first the Play is detected but no memory card.
Try mounting with USB debugging enabled

Uhm... how much is a while?
I remember waiting for as long as 10~15 minutes.
Also my SD has no media on it besides the game files a couple of ringtones in their proper folders and so.
Try switching from MTP to MSC them back again while the USB is inserted. It's a tedious process but it works with me. Otherwise, do a pc companion firmware repair.

I've got the same problem and I've long ago abandoned the idea of fixing it as I tried lots of different tricks but nothing really worked.
So now I just use it in MSC mdoe.
ICS ROM
I got tired of this and some other issues with Link2SD and finally flashed an ICS ROM (Darkforest ICS, based on Sony's official ICS beta).
The ICS' implementation of MTP seems much better than the GB one...
The only thing I kind of miss is the frontal camera .
[Galaxy Note II]
I have some questions/problems and I need solutions from the Pros here:
Maybe I'm outdated or something but I didnt own S3 and my old S2 doesnt have these problems... now that I have used Note 2 for 1 week, I start noticing that Google and Samsung have changed the policy of storage management in their new devices...
1st problem:
- Phone memory is no longer divide into 2 partition which is good, so we can fully use that 16GB BUT what to do if 16GB is finished?
- They (not sure Google or Samsung) removed the "move to SD" option in the application manager.
- Means when 16GB is finished, nothing we can do but to uninstall some apps to free up the space, and there is NO way to move files like game datas into our "external microSD card" and I have searched everywhere in the net and none of them have solution for this at the moment and all apps (App2SD, GL to SD etc.) in Google Play does NOT support S3/Note2.
2nd problem:
- USB Ultilities/ USB Mass Storage (UMS) mode is no longer available?! (WTF??!? again not sure if this is Google or Samsung's fault)
- Now tell me how are we gonna transfer our huge files from Phone/ExSDcard to our computer? MTP? **** MTP, you probably need years to transfer big files using that mode...
- I have studied that, due to the non-partition phone memory, phone memory is NO LONGER able/impossible to be unmount and remount to computer as a mass storage. So nothing we can do with internal storage.
- BUT why the hell Samsung cant even include an UMS mode for only the "External microSD card"?
- Can the Pros here tell me HOW do you transfer your huge files from phone/ExSDcard to computer and vice versa (without having to take out the microSD card and plug it into computer)?
3rd problem:
- I have just tried to connect my pendrive to my Note 2 via OTG cable and it works.
- BUT after disconnected it from the phone, there is a problem charging the phone. I have to reboot the phone to make it back to normal.
- Do you have this problem too? can anyone please confirm this because I want to know whether it's firmware problem or hardware problem.
- I found someone having the same problem like this in XDA forum btw.
Thanks a lot and your reply, help and suggestions are really much appreciated! :good:
anyone please?

Can you share which apps you are using for those solution?
i would like to answer no. 2
are you using mac? if yes (i myself use imac) , there are no other way to make it as a 'pure' usb but install windows on your parallels or vmware. after that, install newest samsung driver (search it in note2 forum, sorry i forgot which thread ...) on that windows (i also use this driver on my lenovo notebook with win8), plug in your note2 ( i use sandisk 64GB and it detect it well), and there you go, enjoy your usb.
but if you only want to drag some music, pics, film.. you can use samsung kies for mac.
I do have these same issue(1), on my note 2... need an serious help to enable to move the apps to sd card.
MTP transfer was standard from day 1 for the SGS3. There's an app called something like Easy UMS Transfer on some SGS3 custom ROMs (Foxhound is one) and it apparently works on the N2.
TBH I have no problems with MTP. Have yet to find a file I can't transfer, and it took under 3 minutes to transfer 2 900MB ROMs last night.
Airdroid or (better) Remote Web Desktop may also be of use to you.
Would like to answer question 2: file transfer speed is damn good I tried more than 3gb file it took couple of minutes.
So need to worry abt the transfer speed.
Incase of external card it again depends on the card class like class 10 or class 4.
I prefer class 10 for any kind of file and video recordings.

For question 3 I think its better you try eject the volume first using unmount option under srorage.
I never tried but you can try if your pen drive appears under storage area.

I have about 10 gigs of music on my external 32gb memory card. every single music app i have tried only recognizes some of the music files. I can view the rest of the music using a file manager. I can even play single songs that dont come up in the music player. I used the same memory card in my old mytouch 4g and all the music was recognized.
Is there a way to play whole folders of songs from a file manager?
Could the problem be that the music files are in too many subfolders?

Try Poweramp from the market and you will see everything. It gives you the option to select which folders you want to view and it is a great player.
If you do not like this option, try installing Kies in your pc and use it to move files off the pc to the external card. According to the manual, this should let the Samsung music player see the files. I have not tried this yet, so no promises. You can dl the pdf manual from the Samsung site under the support for the N2.
Upload music to Google play if you wish, therefore playable via google music manager app.

I've had this problem b4 when flashing different ROMs on my Sensation. Backup ur music n which ever files u want 2 keep 2 a desktop, then format the SD card. Restore the files u wanted 2keep and everything should b fine again. Prolly some old files(still stored on ur SD card) from ur old phone that's causing this hiccup.
My Note2 should b home 2day..

Is it from iTunes? Is it drm restricted?
For about a year and a half, I used a Sandisk 64 GB SDXC card on my phone and it worked great. I recently bought a Tablet, so I decided to use the 64 GB card on it and replace that card with a HC 32 GB Class 10 Micro SD Card. Initially, everything went by smoothly, I would be able to listen to music and even play various formats like .WAV & .FLAC with PowerAMP, and some with the standard android player.
Now, any and every song file I play, whether it be MP3, WAV, FLAC, or M4A doesn't even load up - It just outright tells me that file format is invalid, and when I check for the file folders within the music apps, I get a "0 Files Found" message, though I can see the files whenever I use a file manager app or root explorer app.
I've tried everything, even uninstalling & reinstalling poweramp, wiping dalvik & cache, rebooting the system & accessing the files via an internal media player(Root Explorer), using different music apps - nothing works.
The funny thing is, when I access the files while the S3 is connected to my computer, they play just fine.
Has this ever happened to anyone? What could I have done wrong?
Weird!
Try clearing data on media storage. Then reboot and wait 15-30 mins for it to rebuild its database (depends on how much you have). Then try again.

That could possibly work...how do I do that?
On app manager, find media storage, clear data, reboot.

Hi
I have a significant problem using an External SD card for storing and playing music. I've now tried doubleTwist, Mediamonkey, Poweramp and Google Play Music. I've also tried just copying my music onto the SD card via PC/USB. So far none of these solutions allows me to even play music, let alone sync. Now I am using a 128GB card, is that the problem? I notice that the specs vary as to whether 64 or 128 is the max size supported. Or is it just a failing of android?
Phil
Does your SD card get recognized normally on the "Storage" settings?
I never had any problems with my 32gb class 10 SD card on my P8000. Every music plays without any problem.

Yes, it does and is recognized by my PC as a drive which I can copy files on to. Can I ask you what music app you use and how you get your music on your phone? Do you download it via the app? Do you use app2sd?
And I can load apps onto it with app2sd.

I see. Well, do you have any other SD card to test into it?! Because I really wpuld guess it could be related to the humongous 128gb size!
I use the Stock music app (actually Eragon's, which is the same as stock) and never had any issues. Did not download via app, and never used app2sd.

I think you might be right about the SD card. I'll buy a smaller one.

my 128GB Sandisk works perfect. I use the Shuttle Player, but many player work. You could try the Nexus ROM, maybe this can fix your problem. I will upload very soon the V2.3, i would recommend to test it.

Thank you. Eragon dev says he also doesn't have any problems with music.
I had to format my SD card on my PC to exFAT and now everything works in Nexus Rom.
