[Q] Has anyone noticed a hump on One X's back? - HTC One X

The title is self explanatory but has anyone noticed a hump one One X's back, one centimeter above the HTC logo? The hump is is barely noticeable (probably less than 0,5mm, I can't even take a picture to show it) but I can feel it. I'm a bit afraid because it's more or less where the battery's top end is located.

Yes. I have that little unnoticeable hump as well just right above the "HTC" name.
I think its normal.
Swagged out of my love, HTC One X
.......Feeling Fly on maXimus Rom.......

Yes. Mine has it. It's due to the heat

i have that too

hi
nope not me just checked on reading this thread mine is totally flat no hump what so ever above or below the back HTC marking:good::laugh:

The Tegra 3 chipset is located below the camera sensor.. (below the HOX ring) As you know Tegra 3 is a QuadCore processor and gets heated up so fast.. (compared to other processors) So the hump can be mostly associated with the heat produced by the chip as it moulds the polycarbonate back casing..

I really don't want to get on the news because of an exploding pants incident...
At least it seems that it isn't just mine.

Actually, it isn't that above. It's between the HTC logo and the usb port. If you look to the phone insides, it is exactly where the battery ends. My Desire battery expanded a bit on that spot, so I guess it can be related to that.

Thanks for the info!!

i have notice it more than a month ago

Yup! I have that hump too. It's more pronounced when the phone is hot. It's soft too.

It bends as it get heated therefore showing the contour of the internal. The 'hump' is actually the top edge of the battery.

No hump on my 7months old one x despite how I overheat it the hell out of it

It seems it is rather common. And since the hump is so slight, most people won't actually notice it.

mine has a silicone hump
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app

Yeah that's cuz of overheating... Polycarbonated back moulds up when it heats...even when you'll press the hump you'll feel a blank space....

Dropped my HOX and now weird sound

I dropped my HOX from 3 feet and now when I shake I am hearing tick tick sound inside the phone. Is there any chance to get damage.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like its about to blow up!!!!
Somethings been knocked loose from the fall, God knows what. Hopefully its nothing that will affect the usage / performance of the phone. Give it a week and see.
tick-tick near camera ?
i think... those sounds its already there since first time you unboxed
Can any one shake the phone well both up and down and left and right and say whether you hear a small.sound inside it.

Thanks for the reply guys . You made my day and I am worried that I broked my phone as i had dropped . And it falls horizontal hitting the screen down. And for gods shake there is no scratch . And now I am confirmed that the sound was normal and every one has it.

I think they all have a rattle... I think its a movement sensor of sort..
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Yep mine makes a slight ticking sound too when I shake it. I've dropped it twice now from about 2 feet. Once was on carpet and the second time i was sitting on a Sofa and it fell on a laminated floor.
Even my old HTC Desire had that. It's part of the camera mechanism.
Is there possible to do any other test and make sure my HOX is undamaged.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
It's the shutter
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Thats true, it could be the camera shutter making the sound. You can usually hear the shutter when you open and close the camera app!
Maybe do a full sensor test to make sure they're all working? Not sure how to do this though, its got to be some where in the Settings Menu?
Don't worry its normal
Edit: you can test your device hardware by dailing *#*#3424#*#* just to make sure there no damage

In play store you can get a sensor test tool
Did the default HTC test and while doing line drawing test I can't draw at the left most, right most edges , and top boundary.

I tried line drawing test I couldn't draw at the edges special the top edge of the screen unless you try harder to draw , so its not an issue

[TIP]Prevent heating OneX

Just to let others know I use several frozen gel packs which when I am using my OneX for hardcore gaming I place the gel backs under the phone to keep it cool. Anyone else do this?
Heat + cold = condensation...not a good idea.

Dave is right...This practice of yours will damage your phone on the long run. If your phone regularly reaches temperatures above 50 degrees celcius, you should consider returning cause faultu hardware might be the culprit behibd your overheating issues.
Gel packs? Eh? My phone gets warm when playing games but I deal with it. My ipad3 gets crazy hot but nothing bad comes of it. I have faith in htc.. If it gets hot then find but I shouldn't have to worry about it getting hot and it possibly overheating
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Actually for Laptops Thermapak has a Heatsuit which aborts the heat and keep it cool. I wish we have one for our One X,. It actually works pretty well.
On my HOX the battery health says "Overheated" after gaming for like 20 mins
I think the most useful cooling tool is the fan...
but maybe the air conditioner is great...

true there can be condensation but I've been using gel packs for about 2 years, always on my sensation when gaming at home, desire hd as well as now the one x, never had issues. cooling fan is one idea but the gel packs are awesome. you can buy portable cooling units that are designed for phones albeit more expensive

Bent HTC One x...

This is what happens when you sit on a wall with your one x in your back pocket...
This physically made me cry my heart out for about an hour.
The worst part... I got my otterbox case the following morning.. I hate myself for putting it in my back pocket. Forgive me for hurting you my beautiful One x, I am sorry.

Well what you can do now is making money out of spare parts that are still intact.
Like someone here searches for some GSM cable. Someone needed some even smaller part. etc.
Just change the thread into "Selling spare parts out of my bent htc one x"
Sleek, slim, and light weight breaks.
This doesn't.
Personally, I'd rather take my chances with sleek, slim, and light weight.

Nah, just for the construction industry. It's a great idea though for people than need a heavy duty phone. Can you imagine a One X or SGS3 on a job site?

I'm not a physicist or an engineer but I'm guessing that a larger area + lighter materials + less depth + less reinforcement + edge-to-edge glass = tons more broken phones. The latter is causing SGS3's to drop like flies.
Holy geezus!
Oh man that sucks.

J/k. Sorry. I know that feeling
did you transform into the Hulk and your phone broke like that? damn boy you must have a concrete ass
on a serious note ouch buddy i had to cover my One X eyes so it doesn't see that and has nightmares.. poor thing would start shivering if it could
TBH I was disappointed when HTC decided not to have an Aluminium shell on the One X, my old Desire HD was a lot more rugged. I bet it would of still worked in this situation
Oh damn, that picture hurts my eyes and my heart. :crying:

Out of the three colors it's probably the one I'd get if I was buying an SGS3. I'd also change the wallpaper to something that worked better with red; the blues aren't cutting it. The blue SGS3's kind of blah in person and I'm not a big fan of white phones. The metallic trim around the phone is dark gray which looks pretty nice. It looks better in actual photos.

I once had a red phone.
Asked myself for the next couple of years why I didn't just get a black/silver/white phone haha.

Samsung Plasticky s3- special deal: buy one get one mask free to cover your face.
The Samsung claimed someday they would match Apple's design. Yeah keep dreaming. In the meantime, Sony and HTC make the most good looking and functional Android phones. And HTC One X the fairest of them all.
I think it looks good. You guys are jokers, you do know the SGS3 uses the same plastic as our HOXs but it's finished with hyper glaze. Oh and the SGS3 feels much better in the hand than the HOX despite its glossy looks.
But I prefer HTCs matte finish any day compared to the HG finish of the Samsung.

Fast overheating + cameralens loose

When my one X is charging on textile like a pillow or sth it heats up like crazy. Anyone with the same problem?
Also my lens looks like it is gonna give up on me any day now..
I always take great care of my phone, before this one had a hd2 had it for 3 year, not a single scratch. I hate the cheap ass build quality.
I won't buy a dumb plastic piece of sh.. anymore. HTC please, for your next phones, use aluminium.
I wonder, can the heating problems be fixed?

Well, y'know, you could put it on something thermally conductive rather than a thermal insulator.
