N00B question here. ..
I thought the note 2 is a quad core device, but my Kindle app and more importantly an Android system revealing app indicate I have only three cores. See pic.
Where's my other core gone? Have I got a defective device, or am I missing something?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
the app probably wasn't built to display more cores noone builds processors with an odd number of cores except for single core.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Also, they're numbered 0, 2, 3. Nobody would do that. You have a processor 1 somewhere as well.
My phone says quad core so I believe it

I was being general. neither make them for phones and no-one in their right mind uses triple cores

however a friend of mine posed an interesting theory.
dumb as it sounded at first he suggested that one of the 4 cores was used to make a second layer os that ran independently on top "literally" of android to make the multitasking. I don't think it's the case but it made me giggle

That is probably not the case but I wouldn't mind giving a core for that feature if it worked with all apps.

I hated my note 1 because it made all those new phones look so tiny and unusable for me, now the note 2 is rising the bar again with its monster battery
Now when I see people getting 3h of screen on time with 0% brightness makes me feel sad for them, my note 2 can give me 6h+ of screen on time with 100% brightness all day long

Too big for my tastes, and I have relatively large hands. I feel like the s3 is pretty near the perfect size, big enough to be useful without being stupid-big.

The only reason I want this phone more then anything else is truly multitasking with two apps running at the same time I know is limited but is the best so far, I'm waiting to see if nexus 4 is better with 4.2 next week, and btw the longest I had a phone for is 8 months , I like phones too much :/

It must be that ypu guys switching phones like crazy must not be married. Lol. My wife got pretty pissed after a year having more than 6 phones. Defijitely keeping the gs3 until its paid off or after. Seems like a solid phone. Plus a phone is a phone is a phone.

Well yeah I can buy a phone when I want but it doesnt mean I should. On top of mortgage and other payments, cant always justify a kuxury like a new phone every six months at 600$+ a pop. Plus my wife is getting the note 2 to replace her mt4g that shes actually used since it launched.

Yes very tempted on getting this phone as I feel the note 2 is a great phone. But not something I see myself using for morw than a year. But I do have my concerns with there past dealings with supposed stealing united states citizens information that was stored or access from there phone. So really it looks nice but with a reputation of stealing information and spying on americans im cool. Wait till somethings else comes out.

Not really, I like the screen but it's the same resolution as the Note 2 with a similar processor and none of the features that make the Note stand out.
I'll wait for the Note 3, but I'll only get that if it has the Octocore Exynos or Tegra 4 processors
noted for future reference on my Note 2

Do you know how to read? All headlines were referring to the same article and there was no proof of Huawei stealing.
If Huawei indeed stole, got caught and proven, it would be out of business by now.

Nice how this thread has degraded.
Unless your some spy or government official then there's nothing important about you for someone in China to spy on, hell there's nothing important for someone in America to spy on.
I recommend not buying in to political bs when looking at technology, cause if they had it their way they'd be the one spying on you....actually....they probably are right now.....BUM BUM BUM!!!
noted for future reference on my Note 2
I am a Chinese and probably cannot comprehend English as well as most of you guys. But none of the articles quoted above proved in the court of law that Huawei or ZTE stole anything.

I think there's a setting on your phone to vibrate every minute while on call to let you know another minute has gone by, you can turn it off but I'm not sure where the setting is exactly.. I have never had the problem and I'm not sure that's what is going on with yours but you could try it out
