As the title says, attached are the links to download the 10.3.1.A.0.244 Commercial/Journalists (1270-4005) firmware for the C6506. This contains the same baseband needed for the AT&T LTE, not sure about others. From my observations, the firmware is identical to the US Generic, nothing more...nothing less.
If you want to use it to flash other C6506 variants (e.g. Canada, Mexico, etc...), you should be able to flash everything except the baseband and that will maintain your original baseband. Alternatively, you can flash the original baseband afterwards if the included baseband doesn't support your carrier. Just make sure you have a stock FTF of your firmware before you decide to go this route.
I was also able to successfully root it via DoomLord's latest thread. It will require the kernel from the previous C6505 10.3.A.0.423 stock firmware (C6506 ONLY). Customization doesn't matter, as long as it's for the C6506 and Android 4.2.2 so the kernels match. If not, you'll get into a bootloop.
Upon successful initial boot, it will ask you to download Data/MMS settings. Just as well, it will default to WCDMA connection type, so just go under Settings>Networks(more)>Mobile Networks>Network Mode and select LTE.
It is always HIGHLY ADVISABLE that you keep a stock FTF of your firmware before flashing any other stock FTF that changes your customization, so you can easily go back to your original customization or repair the phone in case something goes wrong. You can learn more about this here.

You'll need 7-Zip or any extractor that can handle 7Z formats.
So whats different on this compared to other stock images? Just curious

Would this work for my locked canada C6506 ?
I noticed zero differences between this and US Generic. Software is dead on identical in every way. The only reason I flashed this is because Sony hasn't released the 10.3.1.A.0.244 for the C6505 US Generic...and I, and others I'm sure, are highly impatient to wait
It should work, just make sure you have an FTF of your current stock ROM in case you need to flash the baseband from it. Like I said, I don't know for certain whether the baseband from this ROM supports the LTE bands of your carrier or not. For me, AT&T was supported the same way the US Generic did.

Can this rom work on locked bootloader?
Absolutely. Flashing stock FTFs don't require an unlocked bootloader, only custom ROMS do. So you should be good to go.

Thanks! How is the rom so far? BTW I'm on T-Mobile USA
The update is awesome, the phone is pretty much flawless now.
BTW...Sony just released the update for the US Generic (just now)...so you might want to check for the the OTA or use PC Companion. In other words, you don't need to flash the ROM in this thread.

Urgent help for Xperia ZL (6505) 4.1
Guys - I just got a Xperia ZL (c6506) and unlocked it from Claro. The problem is that Claro has put so much of bloatware on the phone plus there is still for update on 4.1 JB.
Can I flash a stock ROM (4.3) on my current phone to get rid of the bloatware and run 4.3 ? I am still on baseband 10.1.1.A.1.253 and bootloader is locked.
I understand this is a pretty novice request but please help as I am getting confused with the multiple info being provided.
Can you give me A link of c6506 baseband or ftf that LTE supported ? Because it has dead link .
Hello, the title says it all. I flashed the latest generic US ROM and lost the ability to connect to LTE. I just want to go back to a stock ROM, any version will do as I can always upgrade it. Can somebody please share any Bell stock ROM?
Thank you
If nobody has the ROM is there a way to trick the official Sony software by playing around with the build.prop file so that it thinks it's a Bell stock ROM that needs to be updated? Can anybody share the build.prop from a Bell Canada Xperia ZL? Thx

C6502?? for Bell Canada.
I may be wrong here but are you sure your phone is a C6502. I played with the Xperia ZL in a Bell store and it was a C6506. The C6502 doesn't support LTE, only HSDPA. If you look at your factory box, it should say on a white sticker if it's a C6502 or C6506.
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - C6502, C6503, C6506
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - C6502, C6506
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100 - C6503
4G Network LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - C6506
LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 - C6503
If it is a C6506, then you flashed the wrong FTF so you probably have the wrong baseband. Your hardware supports LTE but your software thinks it doesnt.
I would make sure its really supposed to be a C6502 if I was you. If it isn't, then flash the C6506 FTF and LTE should be there.
Again, make sure it's a C6502 and good luck ... I dont think anyone created the FTF from an original Bell ROM.
You are right! .. for some reason I thought it was a C6502 when it is in fact a C6506. I'll try with that ROM thanks!
EDIT: I think I checked many times the phone info and it always said C6502. See these screenshots. But the box does say C6506 WTH!

If your box says it's a C6506 but the phone says C6502 and you never flashed it with C6502 then I would ask myself if this phone was really new. Did you buy it from someone?? Is it possible that that someone had flashed it with a wrong firmware and sold it to you. Did your phone have all the Bell bloatware on it when you first got it?
Like I said, I was playing with it in a Bell store and it was definitely a C6506.
Did you try to flash the C6506 FTF with Flashtool?
Is the LTE working now?
I'm curious to know how this turns out.
It is brand new, got it directly from Bell. If you see the link to the screenshots, those were captured by someone else and it says C6502. I still haven't found a C6506 US generic 10.3.1.A.0.244 ROM :/ ... I found a commercial/journalist one which I'm not sure what that means. I'd still would like to go back to the Bell one.
BTW LTE is working with the C6502 ROM after I restored my APN/Network settings. Weird!
So I finally have my phone with the correct ROM. I flashed an older generic US C6506 ROM, rooted, restored my Titanium backup and then using the Sony software updated to the latest version. I lost root but then I flashed an older kernel, rooted and re-flashed the newer kernel. So far so good, got my phone debranded as I wanted, LTE works and everything

Huh, So I guess as long as the hardware supports LTE, the software part takes a back seat!
Glad everything is working for you now. The 244 is perfect, didn't come across any issues! :good:
Is the LTE still working on your phone? Just to be clear.....the "LTE" symbol is in the upper right hand corner, right? And it's not just the "H" symbol. Thanks

Hi, I have a rooted xperia play R800i (unlocked bootloader and no simlocks) with stock rom 3.0.1.A.0.145 and 3G works fine (baseband 21-22). When I flash any other stock rom with higher baseband (tried 36, 56, 64), I lose 3G signal. I only get 2G connections. When I go into settings->Networks->Mobile Networks->Network Operators, I see only 2G operators. I have a Singtel connection (2100 mhz). On all firmwares I have tried, service menu says I have UMTS_1 UMTs_8.
The reason I want to go to new baseband (atleast 36) is to have custom roms and ICS on the phone. Giving up 3g is not really an option.
I have tried flashing old baseband after flashing custom roms (using flashtool, exclude system and kernel and then copying libs manually from old firmware for baseband) but I keep getting unknown baseband in settings->about phone. There is no voice or data signal if I do this.
Any suggestions to fix this problem will be very helpful.

Did you tried baseband from neo l's firmware?
I'm using it for a long time now, so i know it works. Maybe it will work for you too

Exlude all, leave just baseband in flashtool, no extra files needed.

Have you tried just the baseband for .79? Its a world FTF.
Here is the link from my collection:

I also have a baseband that I am using its .80 baseband, I have the FTF and the flashable files for it as well. I was getting edge where I live, in the mountains, after flashing .80 I went to HSPA+. Big difference in reception strength and stability for me.
Let us know how it goes.

Hi,
Tried both basebands and still the same problem. Flashed whole 79 ftf and no 3G, tried baseband 80 with libs, still only 2G. 3G works fine as soon as I install the old ftf. A strange pattern I have noticed that I would like to share. The only firmwares that have worked for me are the ones starting with 3.x.x.x, anything with 4.x.x gives the same problem. Here are the firmwares I could find and I tried them out and they work fine.
Xperia PLAY_3.0.1.A.0.145_UK
Xperia_Play_2.3.3_UK_Generic
These basebands havent worked for 3G
R800a_2.3.4_North America Generic.ftf

R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Generic Hong Kong Trade.ftf
R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_(1253-4437).ftf
R800i_4.0.A.2.368_World.ftf
MT25i_4.1.B.0.631 INDONESIA_SONY MOBILE by wewenk.ftf
R800i_-80_Baseband_GSM.ftf
R800_4.0.2.A.0.79.ftf
Are there any 3.x.x firmwares available I haven't tried which have basebands which might work with ICS? That would solve my problem I am guessing.
Thanks.
See if there is dome ftf you didn't try at

And quick question, did you try to install doomlord's ics kernel and some stock-based ics rom on firware you have working 3g? (i mean, is it working if you DON'T flash newer firmware?)
And also, are apn settings same on working 3.x.x firmware and on any other rom you have only 2g (check them manualy, write on paper if you have to)

Yes have tried installing DoomKernel ICS with stock ICS over 3.0.1.A.0.145, I get no network detection and get an Unknown Baseband in about phone. Also tried copying ouver the 7 lib files from the working rom into this setup but same error.
APN settings are the same across firmwares.

Hello.
I've got G Pro E988 Thailand version. Thailand firmware of E988 can't support 4G LTE. I'm currently live in Russia and I need LTE. I read Spec of E988 and it can support LTE 1800 / 2600. So, can I flash other countries' firmware and can I get LTE 1800 / 2600? For example CIS firmware or Hong Kong firmware for E988. If I can flash, please give me some instructions for that. Do I need to root and install CWM or TWRP recovery to flash these firmwares? My current condition is stock Rom and unrooted. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply hyelton! I asked to the LG Technical Support Center from Thailand and they answer me like that "Spec G Pro E988 can support 4G 1800/2600 but Thailand doesn't have firmware for support this version". So, I asked. I saw Pure Stock Rooted and debloated ROM here. Can I flash that Rom on my E988 Thailand Version? If I can flash, I think it can cause baseband problem. How can I flash my correct baseband?

i want to know why the phone gets bricked when we flash some other version's firmware , is it some deep hidden hardware difference as gsmarena.com says specs are same only names are different (and possibly the firmware ).
is there a work around.
because in ideal case if hardware is same then software can be of any version.

"Specs" are the same but the actual settings/hardware used is different. VERY different. Everything is region specific and carrier specific. That is why.

Here you'll see clearer why they are so different.
