Hi all
I see that I am able to create folders in the gallery app but it is residing in the sdcard folder? How do I change it to external sdcard?
I tried clearing the "miscellaneous files" in the settings > storage and now I lost all those pictures!!

uh..nobody knows?
it would be easier if you create a folder in sdcard, then copy 1 image file into it via file explorer.
It will start showing in gallery, then drag and drop the files into the new folder via gallery only.

From the "people" menu you can choose to "export/import" a contact, and then select "export to SD card" - the vCard will be saved in /sdcard/ . It should be something like "pcsc_pcsc_00001.vcf". It's visible with EStrongs explorer.
Hi,
i tried to hide folders from stock gallery with .nomedia, after deleting the contents of com.google.android.gallery3d and rebooting the folders are still present in gallery?!
Doesn't work for me either. Is there an alternative?
I am also having this issue. Anyone want to chime in?
I had this problem too. However this seems to work. I used ES File Explorer for this
1. Create the .nomedia file in the folder.
2. Rename the folder.
3. Open the Gallery app. It should start to rescan. Depending on how many files are there it will slowly reduce the file count as its scanning and then the folder will disappear once its gets to zero.
4. Rename the folder back to original name if you want.
Hope that works for everyone else.
Works! thx!

great, this worked for me. was tired of seeing all the cover albums show up on my gallery app.
Add a dot before the folder name
.folder for example
And it shouldn't be scanned

that's the cache under some special folder.
Is it possible to keep certain picture files from showing up in my gallery?
My problem is my gallery is flooded with pics from all my UCCW files , very cluttered it is !
Thanks for the help .
Yeah just name them something else the gallery won't be able to show like .txt. or you could mount USB to PC and select and delete any pics you don't want there.

If you create a file named .nomedia and place it in a folder, any pictures in that folder will not be shown in the gallery. There are probably a few .nomedia files in folders on your phone already that you could copy/paste as well.
Either that or use QuickPic

I'll try the nomedia suggestion. thanks !
Sorry guys my parents bought this phone and I don't own one so I don't know how else to help them. They were wondering where the download folder was since it seems the note 4 doesn't have that specific folder in the apps directory anymore. Also the my files doesn't seem like it has an all files folder either. So how do you check and delete downloaded files?
The my files app has a section for it.
Its in the local storage section of the my files app. you can see all your files there.
Google might be able to help you also.

Also, my files app, settings, then check show hidden files.
Call me a noob, but when I copy files in the "Download" folder (My Files>Device Storage) and I open Dropbox and select to Upload "Other Files", Dropbox goes immediately to the Downloads folder which is blank. I would like to know where the heck this "Downloads" (shown in dropbox) is located. I don't think Downloads in dropbox is the same as Download in Device Storage.
solution to this annoying problem that occurs in the gallery? I installed messanger Facebook or other applications I appear emoticons.
You need to have have a file on the map you want to exclude from the HTC gallery named ".nomedia" then this folder will be excluded from scans from HTC gallery. If you look on external sd and then on the folder Android you will see such a file, copy it and paste it on the root of the folders you want to exclude.
the folder is not there, you could explain? the destination folder and paste it where I find it?
Open the Gallery app tap the settings icon in the top right corner (the 3 dots) and choose "Show/hide albums".
Now you can choose which albums is visible in the Gallery app.

sorry I meant sd card>android>data then you will see a file named ".nomedia" copy it and put it on the folders/maps you want to exclude from scanning.
That file is also present in other folders just search a bit with (htc) file explorer.

I did not understand what folder copy / maps you want to exclude from scanning?
HTC gallery app scans your maps/folders looking for images. In the facebook messenger folder ( internal memory or external) there are images that's why you see them on the HTC gallery. If you use the ".nomedia" file and put it on the root of the facebook messenger folder then HTC gallery will not scan this folder for images and therefore you will not see them .on the gallery.
