Just received the ICS update prompt. Is it safe to do so being on Boost?
So you are a boost customer and got ics ota notification? That can't be bad.
Sent from my E4GT running the blu kuban!
Yes on boost service and received ota ics notification update.
What build?
Please post which version you end up with. Suspect FF18 but hey, wishful thinking never has stopped!

Yes currently on EL29 Gingerbread. Phone is stock. Update does not tell me if its build FF18. It only says it Android 4.0.4 update.

Im not familiar with the process to flash to boost but whats even better is you guys now have ICS rom leaks specific to boost now
Not a boost user but have seen posts from users where flashing / updating doesn't wipe settings.
If it would, then theoretically a nandroid would take you back.

Anyways from what I have found is that no rom I have flashed on this phone has messes up the radio settings where all the carrier settings are stored. You should be fine. But that being said flash at your own risk ha.

Hey i just rooted my device and Superuser won't grant permissions to apps that need root. I tried updating the binaries and it gets stuck at gaining root access. I'm running stock t-mobile 2.3.6 Gingerbread on a Galaxy s2. Please help! Thank You.
Superuser version 3.1.3
Im getting this constant nagging to update my software from t-mobile. I wonder if they quietly snuck in something to block root access?

Lol, I still miss my GB Juggernaut ROM. All the AOKP goodness in an ultra stable package. The ICS ROMS are still... well, too varied and not every single one has all the features. I'd like AOKP features in a WiFi-calling enabled ROM...... == Juggernaut GB

Sounds like you might have had a bad flash or something and didn't get root on properly. Have you tried doing it again? Are you doing it through ODIN or CWM?
Honestly don't let the ICS and JB goodness sway you... the new ROMs still have little issues here and there... GB was _AWESOME_
I followed this exact guide down the the last detail and installed the attached files.

I'm gonna try reflashing. I'm using CWM.
I really just want speed, battery and stability and am not too impressed with all the half baked ICS roms that are available. I'll probably stick to GB until someone makes a flawless rom for JB or ICS.

you know 3.0.5 is downgrading right? I started with 3.0.5 then 3.0.7 but then people said 3.0.7 wasn't working well for some on ics. 3.1.3 seems to work fine and dandy for the ics builds.. I'll wait until i get more feedback from other users. Btw does the market have an upgrade for your superuser while on gb? You're on gb right?

This happened to me once. It's because su got corrupted or something.
I reinstalled the same version of SU and it fixed it right up, no need to downgrade.

I know it's a downgrade, but I'm just saying it didn't work for me on Gingerbread 2.3.6 and your guide says for 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 4.0.3, and 4.0.4
I'm not sure if mine was an isolated case. Thank you for the great guide by the way with the exception of that minor SU issue.
@8Fishes I reflashed and it didn't work. That's why I ended up downgrading.

yeah now im just curious if 3.1.3 is suppose to support gingerbread. It'll be weird if it didn't. Is there an update to your superuser since you're on GB? if there is.. is it the 3.1.3 update? I'm way too lazy to test this out myself since i'm in the middle of testing other ROMs.

Former Evo owner here myself and must say this is a hell of a phone with a great set of roms. Now not as much choices as we had back in the day with the Evo but good roms none-the-less. I would do yourself a favor and really not read into too much of the user reviews here. I see a lot of user error and just terrible flashing habits and a lot of complaining about issues with roms that quite frankly are created by the users bad flashing habits.
You had some good suggestions in here and great choice of stable roms like tdjs rom jamison904 rom
CM9 or AOKP

I see an update in the Playstore, but I'm not willing to risk it at this point. @ Playaa thanks I'll weigh those options along with the other ROM that was suggested to me.
By the way, I read that in ICS there is a method for Tmobile to track tethering and start charging you for it even if you have a custom ROM. Is this so?

I will say that this is one of the ONLY phones that I ever thought about NOT romming but I doubt I will be able to hold back if something really good comes out...Hello, I am Justin, I am a flashaholic!

Deff agree on that one. But alas, i will miss alot of the OG functions from touchwiz on this phone. Although with GN1, they found work arounds for it. Especially S Note.
My plan is to root as late as I can to avoid messing things up. I figure we won't see an update for a few weeks and by then all the bugs that come along with rooting a phone should be worked out. I really enjoy this phone and can, surprisingly, wait on rooting.

I know when I rooted that if I go to check for a software update it says it won't do it on a modified device so I am pretty sure we won't get OTA's through the rooted devices but you can just wait for someone to post the updated OTA and flash that and your good to go!
Or do you still have stock recovery?

Hey People,
Just wondering if it's worth upgrading to 4.2.2 ... based on what I know, the changes doesn't justify it.
Appreciate your comments.

sorry for my shallow knowledge but pls clarify one basic q of mine:
If i update to 4.2.2 as indicated by my samsung galaxy nexus phone notification...will it get locked and unrooted again ?
I have used wugfresh in past to unlock boot and take backups...
I've stock 4.2.2 with only root, but I still have some annoying bugs like wifi that stops working when the phone is in standby(yes, the settings are correctly set up), the clock in the lockscreen presents some position problem when I push the power button and I find a slow passage to 3g connection when I turn off wifi.
