Stock Kernel from CM9 seems slow to me... Recommend me which Kernel is better?

If im not wrong, you're ment to use FXP's default kernel (CM Kernel) to make CM work. Otherwise using another kernel for CM would give you bootloops.
NOTE: CM is based on its own source-code so thats why you MUST use default CM kernel (not android-sourced kernels).

I have 2 Gios, one is already running a new ROM(GioPro) and is overclocked and now I would like to just overclocked the other Gio.
The phone is already ROOT and as expected, Antutu CPU Master cant overclock the stock kernel.
My question: Can I just replace the kernel and then overclock the stock ROM or I have to install a new ROM ?
And if it is possible to just change the kernel witch one should I use ?
Thank you.
You need custom overclockable kernel for stock roms. Look over here
try phiexz's kernel. He made kernel for stock rom too. But i never tried it.

Was that a serious answer?
To simplify:
Q. "What kernel should I use"
A. "Use one of the kernels"
That's essentially what you just said.
@OP Use either the standard kernel that comes in the .rar (called boot.img) OR use the mjolnir kernel. (I'm talking about CM9 only here).
I'm using boot.img inside the zip of rom. Thanks!

:good:
Thank u very much....
It is also a good kernel but will it work on this Rom.. KTG anzu kernel dev says that it is for stock ics..!! Can I use this?
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
ktg works for ICS stock and other roms that are based on stock.
maybe he confused with the AOKP rom based on CM10.
and what aokp rom based on ics 4.0.4 you will install? I do not know.
I mean this Rom :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609516

ok friend?
I looked at the rom you mentioned and as I said I really did not know. It is based on CM9, CM9 soon only a kernel will work. The kernel KTG I said before will not work in this rom. The zip of the rom already comes with a kernel, but I suppose you want a better kernel but, as you can check, developers are focused on developing for CM10 and stock, then there is not much choice. I even use the rom AOKP but based on CM10 with the FUSION kernel and works very well, I have no complaints. Give it a try. Good luck

Hi all, i flashed my One X to CM 10.1 Nightly, but the battery drain is awfull. I tried to flash it with the franco kernel but that made my phone stuck in BOOT. I heard of a Semaphore kernel, but i cant find one for the One X only for the Nexus 4 and SIII.....any ideas anyone
Only use aosp based kernels, and kernels for JB roms......franco/faux kernels are for ICS based roms ! Not gonna work
Try XM kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136731
Yes xm kernel was the best for me in cm 10.1 roms with battery but with seadrsn rom

What does aosp based mean??
Senseless roms based on pure Google source.
aosp stands for android open source project. Mostly means that there is no HTC sense shell added
So when you are on CM10.1 you need the aosp version of the xm kernel if you wish to try that.

That will be the kernel modules or the boot.IMG you flashed.
I would suggest using the snapshot rather than nightly.

Well i flashed a new rom : RENOVATE 4 with the xm_kernel_241_RENOVATE. It all works fine now.....thnx for the help.
Hi, I know this is a bit of a noob question, but I want to flash a new kernel, and I don't know which kernels are safe to flash. I'm running CM 10.1 Wild for the Night with CWM 6.0.3.3 . I have a EL29 modem and the current kernel is something like 3.0.64-CM-q31f128d. As to why I want to flash a new kernel it's because I have an audio problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374061) and other people with the same problem, but the GT-I9100 version of the s2, have reported it fixed by flashing the dorimanx kernel. However, I can't flash that one because it's only for the GT-I9100 right? So my question is which kernel can I flash?
I believe the only current AOSP kernels are the standard CM one (and its derivatives) and the LightningZap kernel. The CM one is the standard one in most of the AOSP ROMS.

Yeah I believe the cyanogenmod one is what I currently have. Is it possible to flash the LightningZap kernel using Mobile Odin while keeping my current Cyanogenmod 10.1 setup? Thanks for the quick reply!
As long as there is a tar for it, yes. If they have a zip, you can flash from your current custom recovery. Either way nothing will change but kernel and recovery.
