if you have a cdma wildfire s ( no simcard) then make a goldcard and flash the pg76diag.zip from bootloader, if not get a xtc clip.

Nah its not cdma but I've done it before without xtc clip ?
Then you don't mean s-off. You mean htcdev bootloader unlocked. Check the dev section here for simonsimons bootloader unlock tool, or go to htcdev.com and perform the bootloader unlock mate.

Sorry but this isn't correct. You can't unlock it by flashing a Ruu. I you need to buy unlock code or use a xtc clip at present.

I had my Wildfire unlocked using revolutionary method... Previously I was locked to Orange UK.. I just flashed the RUU (Asia India) from shipped roms first; then I used the revolutionary tool - AlphaRevX.... Only issue I had was no mobile network.. I flashed the latest radio img for wildfire using fastboot... I never bought or used an unlock code from anyone...

Are you sure it was locked in the first place?
The cid is hidden away in a partition we can't get to, I don't think revolutionary changes the cid because if it did the alpharev team would know about it and it would have been mentioned before, an ruu flashes original software which is also most probably locked as the carriers would complain to google for making such a simple way to unlock there phones.

Yup I'm damn sure Myhtc was locked... I tried using other operator's sim cards..

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to unlock a WFS. But with HTCBootloaderUnlock problem (ERROR [191] ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED), try to downgrade the phone to 2.3.3 with the hboot 1.03 (WFS don't found), try a goldcard ( with a file zip to the bootloader, return error "main version is older") So WHAT I HAVE TO DO, for S-OFF my WFS ?
Thanks all
Why do you want to s-off it?
Sent from my Wildfire S A510e using xda premium
I want to S-OFF it for install Recovery an Custom ROM (I from of Sony Ericsson so I don't know if i have to S-off or unlock bootloader... but I want to install custom rom)
You can only get S-Off by using an XT-Clip. Luckily, you don't need S-Off to install custom ROMs. You will need to unlock your bootloader. This can be done at http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
I've tried this method but I've got this: ERROR [191] ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED
Have a look at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21231962&postcount=2 it may help.
Tested too but I have this error:main version is older
Try simonsimons BootLoader unlock tool from the developer forum.

I've rooted with s-on and i have cwm, so you don't have to be s-off

You can only get S-OFF with an XTC-Clip.

S-On doesn't allow you to flash another recovery, to get permanent root and flash custom roms.
Unlocked bootloader (still S-On) allows you to di precedent things.
I don't know what S-Off does that is different from unlocked bootloader.
Unlocked bootloader is enough for most of us. I may have said something wrong, but that's how I understood this.

It also allows you total control of the hardware. Ie you can change the size of your mtd partitions so you have more space for apps. Which is very useful if your rom takes up very little space on the system partition. You can allocate that space back to data. Also should you some how kill the software, being s-off means that you can run any ruu without the phone telling you no. Upgrade and downgrade. You can also perform super cid (11111111) which allows you to flash roms from any network/country. Also if you manage to get hardware s-off via a software solution ( a radio s-off and not a hboot s-off) you can run the pj76diag.nbh from the lovely guys at the xtc clip and it will sim unlock the device to any network as well. But if you use the xtc clip its self it will automatically s-off, sim unlock and do supercid
Manny Thanks for the info!

Hi guys, I explain the situation:
My Wildfire was initially S-ON and SIM-locked.
I made my Wildfire HBOOT S-OFF, then I rooted it, installed CWM and RemPuzzle. Now, running RemPuzzle, I have SIM-unlocked it.
Question: will flashing a stock/custom ROM via CWM remove the SIM-unlock from it?
Thanks in advance.
it shouldnt make any difference. did you sim unlock by code or xtc clip?
