This is normal in my Xperia S (only a question)? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

I have 6.1.A.2.45 version of ICS on my Xperia S and my question is that every time I start off the phone after I get a notice saying: Updating android: Optimizing # of applications ... This always happens to me each to start the phone. and it's annoying because it takes longer to start.
I have the phone rooted with CWM v2 for locked bootloaders

Its a bug, just factory reset if it bothers you.

Its a root, cwm or rom bug?
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app

It depends on what have you flasged, moded lately. It is occurring at specific mods....
Hit Thanks if I helped

Its very strange because i only install the root and CWM, Nothing else more.

I noticed my phone did that when i "cleaned the dalvik cache" using titanium backup as the sony roms seem to create a 0kb file in the dalvik cache folder which tells the phone to to not rebuild the cache.

wait you optimizing them.........the system optimizes them on its own as if freshly installed
yeah it is annoying the more apps you have the more it takes times
I am noob at Linux distros but it seems like the prefetch file used in windows(cannt be sure about this )
you dont have to clear dalvink cache daily just do it when you find your phone laggy or heavy like you do with battery status when you find your battery life is not as it supposed to be

I have official stock ICS and kernel just rooted and installed cwm v2
and whenever i clean dalvik cache it re-optimizes application
there is a definition about dalvik cache on wiki search it on google since i still cannt post the link
so dont worry and this is not a bug this optimization is in all roms base on 4.x.x versions as far as i know
it is a bit annoying i know but cannt do anything about it i guess

Cyanogen boot loop

i have googled this and tried multiple ways of installing it but i always get a boot loop. Whats going on?
Hey if you just want to get your phone back again, just flash another firmware from the one you used. Should start up just fine.
have done already but i actually want to install cyn mod. I managed to get as far as the main screen buit then immediately reboots. I cant find wifi modules for latest doom kernel either they arent in his thread.
FLASH KERNEL FIRST (from cyanogenMOD or doomkernel for CM7 etc)
Than flash cyanogenMOD
any other way will make your phone bootloop.
I think you have to unlock BL via SE in order to flash CM..
of course you would likely broke your warranty.
this based on my experience (I'm a newbie too in the android's world). this is what I've done :
1. unlock BL via SE (not all carriers allowed this!)..
2. flash .42 fw
3. follow the instructions given on CM thread by fxp.
it's worked for me.
goodluck.
I've had this problem before. Did you wipe the delvic cache, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition in CWM before you flashed the update.zip?
It would seem it was a specific version of cm that was making it bootloop the one from dooms thread 7.2.0 works fine and also the one before the latest stable release also worked fine. I however found a problem with the spacebar on the keyboard when using the phone in landscape so am now going to try arconium and doom kernel its a shame really because cm from what i used of it looked really nice.
Try 7.1.0.1.
I got bootloop too with 7.1.0.2

Aye thats the one i used but ended up having a problem with the spacebar not working in landscape so am on acronium now which is all good but superuser keeps crashing meh always something eh.
at first im also having the same problem, just follow the instruction by FXP : flash bb56,flash fw.42,flash FXP kernel via fastboot, flash update via recovery, wipe dalvik cache,reboot..
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk
I have this exact same problem
I've done everything I was supposed to, I think, and still doesn't work. It boots, shows me the little Android "Welcome!" screen, and before I have time to press anything or begin setting up my device, it reboots into the Cyanogenmod loading screen. I've tried different kernels, different basebands, every time wiping Dalvik cache, etc. and it REFUSES to work. I'm pretty desperate by now because I really wanted to use this ROM so any help is greatly appreciated.
I also followed precisely rashid.fairus' instructions and it still does the exact same thing.

Sometimes you DON'T WIPE ANYTHING AT ALL. Just flash CM and Google.
Works for me on Xperia Acro S.

Wipe dalvik and cache when upgrading to later version, wiping data will reset phone to factory settings and you lose all personal data.

If it was just a bad flash when you wipe the data/cache/dalvik cache and reflash apex it should fix itself...also keep in mind you need to flash 4.0.3 GAPPS immediately after flashing, before reboot
i didnt do a full wipe i only did a cache and dalvik wipe , i did install the 4.0.03 gapps right away before restarting.

You really do need to wipe data coming from a different ROM and/or android version most of the time. If you don't apps can and will crash
i came from the same rom just 2 versions older i think the bigxie 4-2 or something , im still having issues with the market it was working fine after i reinstalled the rom but now it keeps doing the same

Problem with wiping dalvik cache [XperiaS]

Hi!
Sometimes i cant wipe dalvik.
For example - used XZXperience 1 and wanted to install XZX2, tried to wipe dalvik (can wipe other stuff), but cant, just nothing happens when click on Wipe dalvik.
Using KA kernel 8
Only solution is to flash stock firmware and do all process again, what im doing right now

Tried, not helping.
Try manually by:
Using a file explorer go to data>dalvik-cache and wipe everything reboot to recovery and to what you need there
Sent from my Xperia S using xda app-developers app
flash ics17 kernel, then try again.
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Same prob.
This problem related to the kernel you are using.. flash Advanced Stock ICS or Stock+ Kernel and then try again.
I tried, it wont help. Still cant accsess dalvik cache wiping.
Like i sayed: only solution is to flash stock firmware, then root it, and then works. If i flash KAv8 or other stock ICS kernels, then problem comes back.
Go to recovery ,advanced option and mount cache. Than try it again.

[Q] Flashing issue or not ?

Hi, in the last minutes i've flashed the 2.7 build of LiquidSmooth Rom from the Paranoid Hello Halo rom... I've done the prcedure like XDA said : Wipe Wipe Wipe (cache, dalvik, system) Flash Rom Flash Gapps. It booted fine but all my apps that i've had on my previous rom was still there... all of them. The most disturbing is my settings were also like I've left them ( disabled pie wifi etc) also my Google Accound was already setuped and good to go. Is it a new feature from flashing 4.2.2 rom to an other 4.2.2 rom ? I've never seen that before. I've also rebooted to make sure it wont boot loop on reboot, and it booted like a charm!
Any clues ?
Weird, never seen that before. Tell us what recovery you have and exactly what you are wiping. Can't think of anything else at the moment I'm sure others will chime in.
Sounds to me like you're not wiping /data. This is where your apps and setting are stored and unless you factory reset using stock recovery, deliberately wipe/format /data, or flash a Rom that wipes it for you, all your apps and settings will remain.
Seems like normal behavior to me.

Ya I re-read it and he just wipes caches and system, definitely need to factory reset lol.

Got it that's why. I was sure wiping system would wipe data too. But do you think its dangerous to not wipe data? Because actually my ROM is rocking right now without issues? Should I reflash it for safety?
It just depends....
It's always best to start clean, especially if you were having problems. But if you want to keep data intact, you should be ok as long as you don't go to an entirely different rom, base, or build.
If you are updating to a newer version of the same build, you're fine. Also if updating to a newer build/version you should be ok, but may have a few hiccups.
However, anytime you go backwards (4.2.2 to 4.1.2) you should wipe it all. The same is true if you are moving to a different base, such as CM to TW. Keeping your internal sdcard data is usually ok, but sometimes it can cause some issues.

check my signature for Arc to S guide... even if you are an Arc S owner...make a new fresh start...then after you flashed stock ics fw flash a nice JB ROM (X 4.5 or SJB 7.1 recommended) and see the difference... or wait a bit for me to launch my new ICS launcher with honami cam UI and other goodies

I guess you already did a clean install via CWM, wipe data > format/system > wipe cache > wipe dalvik cache > battery stats.
Also whenever I do install fixes via CWM I wipe cache/dalvik cache aswell, after each fix install.
What apps do you currently have installed?

Yes Bro!! That is always my procedure when flashing new ROMs!!! But after using my phone for one or two days, "dialler" starts to lag until it takes about 10min to respond :crying:
This happened with ALL ROMs I tried!!
I don't use much apps, but I'm using Link2SD for more internal memory!!!
Any clue??
