[Q] Difference between N7100 and N7105 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the difference in N7100 and N7105? I'm looking to root but cannot find software that roots my N7105. But I could find plenty for N7100. thanks amigos

Lol me too. It's funny how every now and then a smart-a** remark backfires. I always hate it when instead of writing a couple of words to answer the question, some people decide to spend the same amount of time reminding about search buttons.

The N7105 is the 'LTE' version but I guess you a already know that one. The only thing I can think of is the modem is different. Seen a few posts about dumping a N7100 rom on a N7105 where you have to then send it the lte modem.
Indeed it is funny. I've been searching for 2 hours trying to find how to see what stupid words the keyboard ha added to my dictionary, like passwords, no luck.
I also searched for days trying to work out why after I installed CWM I couldn't boot into it. Never found a solution on here or Google... But if I hold volume up(instead of down), home and the power button it will start in CWM.

No FM radio on 7105. 7105 is lte aka 4g. All others is the same.

judging by slowness and non-maxmimization of even 3G, i see no point in shelling out more for the 4G model.

N7105 also supports 42Mbps DC-HSPA+, where the N7100 does not.

I used to think so, but here in the UK, the 3G services all run on 2.1GHz (properly called UMTS-2100, sometimes WCDMA). The problem is that 2.1GHz is a really stupid frequency for good propagation over distance, it's fine in an urban area.
the european/ETSI-specific LTE frequencies will be 2600 and 800Mhz, the idea is that the former is for urban, the latter for wide areas.
so my theory is a double-win: LTE data rates and better coverage for data.
of course, the problem being that mobile operators haven't provisioned enough backhaul circuits so even if the radio interface is capable of 10's of megabits/s, each cell's uplink and downlinks are not capable of that.

I use Galaxy Tab P1000T from Telstra that support HSPA 850 voice and data ^^
Is it possible for one of the DEVs to test this for us.?
I flashed it to my Tab for use with telus. Noticed no difference, except that the signal strength indicator (bars) is consistently one less then normal.
Baseband: P1000TDXKM2
I cannot use Truemove SIM in my Galaxy Tab, since I boyght it in Samsung Mobile Shop and it uses 900 instead of True 850. Now I cannot get 3G in Bangkok . (That is what True says)
Will it help to install this 3G Modem, or do I need to replace my Galaxy Tab?

This is what I want to know too. I'm using original Galaxy Tab and it only supports 900/1900/2100 for 3G.
I'm using 3G sims from i-Kool and i-mobile which are using 2100MHz band from TOT. But I want to use True 3G because I still can use Edge/Gprs outside their 3G coverage area and they included wifi into their internet package which is the most valuable package for now.
But I guess there is no luck for us yet. Because iff it's possible, the DEVs would already integrated those 850MHz supported modem driver from some other Tabs into original Tab already.
Can we get a cwm flashable please?

Ok People... Im on US T-Mobile and decided what the hell... What do I have to lose with Flashing this Modem.. My Sim is for the G2 Phone and guess what I get Edge showing and I get calls... How do you like that??? Well... Im kinda happy but wish it would get some G3 speeds although my G2 phone is a G4 speed.. But for now I will use the Tab in its Edge setting.
you should be careful when trying stuff like this, dont be too exited and flash it right away without re-read the post a few times, to me it looks like any other modem out there such as the bell modem.

HERCULES vs SKYROCKET -- pls help me decide buy one !! :)

greetings fellas !
i am confused between the t-mobile hercules & at&t skyrocket !
i would like to know which one would be preferable among the two !
i will be using the phone in india so the phone will be gsm unlocked !
what i would consider :
1) custom roms
2) build quality, audio quality, camera quality
also pls mention the differences between both phones !
thanks for all your help !
Don't be confused. Besides a bit of cosmetic difference they are the same phone.

Yes this is true.
Qualcomm's MDM8220 modem doesn't support LTE.
"Qualcomm’s MDM8220 dual-carrier HSPA+ solution, based on the 3GPP Release 8 standard, provides peak downlink data rates of up to 42 megabits per second (Mbps) and 11 Mbps on the uplink, allowing carriers to easily upgrade their existing infrastructure equipment to achieve significantly higher bandwidths. Its dual-carrier technology doubles networks’ bandwidth from 5 MHz to 10 MHz by aggregating two HSPA carriers in parallel.
The MDM9200 and the MDM9600 chipsets are the industry’s first multi-mode 3G/LTE solutions that allow UMTS and CDMA2000® operators to upgrade seamlessly to future LTE services while preserving backward compatibility to their existing 3G networks. MDM9200 supports UMTS, HSPA+ and LTE, while the MDM9600 supports CDMA2000® 1X, EV-DO Rev. B, SV-DO, SV-LTE, UMTS, HSPA+ and LTE. All of the new chipsets support FDD LTE and TDD LTE modes and different carrier bandwidths, and are capable of using orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology to support peak data rates of up to 100 Mbps on the downlink and 50 Mbps on the uplink."
Wow...I'll be honest with you that was quite a mouthful lol you kind of lost me so I read it twice and I understand, but pretty much the Herc has the MDM8220? So thats a no on the LTE if when T Mo gets LTE like they plan on, we wont be getting true LTE. Correct me if Im wrong lol, Im just a noob trying to learn.

GS3 Tmobile LTE capable?

So I was in a tmobile store today and was told that both the note II and Gs3 will receive a software patch to enable the lte radio. Asked the question like 10 different ways as I've read online that the gs3 will NOT be let cab able.
the internal phone workings are a little above my head...but i was told that the tmobile sg3 is the same as say the att model which does have the lte radio,
So, does that sound right that the SG3 is future proof and will be able to enable LTE?

and that was from day 1? Obviously there has been debate about this on this forum and people much smarter than I have agued that it will never get LTE...
do you remember if there is something that has to be enabled? Or if say where I live they activate the LTE tower, boom it will work?
Its been a while so I dont remember the details, but I am convinced that
1. We will NOTget LTE one our GS3.
2. It doesn't really matter. By the time the majority of us get LTE in our market, we will have moved on to an even better phone! Also, most of us will get hspa+42 soon which for now is more than sufficient for almost everyones needs.

I think these threads need to be shut down. There are a number of other threads exactly like this that holds the correct information. Thanks Doc
I agree with Doc, we'll probably be on better phones by the time we have decent LTE reception -- and I'm happy enough with the DC-HSPA+ modem.
IMHO, they will likely release a Galaxy S3 [4G] LTE as an interm between the S3 and the S4. WRT LTE, all I know is what I see on Wikipedia's snapdragon article. Which isn't very clear on details. Also numerous MSM8960 phones /w LTE exist but do we even know if it's on die, let along bothering to crack open an AT&T and T-Mobile GS3 for a little hardware compare?
So afye reading this I have a question.... if you guys are saying that our phones arent capable then why on my phone (running frosty jb v7) are there 2 system apps called LTESettings.apk and LTETest.apk??? T889v lte enable?

I was wondering if it is possible to enable LTE on a WIND Galaxy Note 2? I recently switched to bell, and I do not have LTE, but I know that T-Mobile has an updated Modem that enables LTE, so can I use it on my phone?

My Bell Plan, and my Bell Micro-Sim supports LTE.
I'm not sure a Tmobile modem would help you with that. Are your phone settings correct for LTE service on Bell? And, I guess, is it unlocked, with the right radio inside to connect to Bell LTE? I'm not familiar with Canadian carrier compatability.

The Mobicility/Wind/Videotron T889V's modem has LTE disabled just like the T-Mobile's T889's modem prior to the LTE update. There's a bug where flashing a T889, I317 or I317M modem through CWM or TWRP (Odin will fail before writing) leads to IMEI corruption and bootloops.
You've got some more searching and reading to do but enabling LTE has been done at least twice, by Rail205 and myself.

Can you possibly guide me on how you did it? And also, does your phone have LTE AND AWS HSPA, or one or the other?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
I do have both AWS LTE and HSPA from what little testing I've done with the latter. This makes sense given that's exactly the configuration used by T-Mobile.
Use the search engine, there's gotta be at least four or five threads about enabling LTE on the T889V.
Essentially this is an experimental and so far irreversible mod. So you're really kissing your warranty goodbye. And I will be of limited help if you (or I, by way of my instructions) screw up.
I'll send you a draft guide via PM if you're still interested. Consider getting an I317M and enabling AWS HSPA on it instead.

Solder points on i317

Not sure which forum to post this in. So here it goes.
I bought an unlocked AT&T Note 2 and using it on T-Mobile. I decided to open it and see what it was about and noticed these solder points.
Has anyone seen these points on there phones and done anything with them?
I've flashed a stocked T-Mobile ROM to the phone to get the features that a T-Mobile Note 2 would offer except the modem and getting LTE.
Those look like the different model numbers...
i317 is at&t T889 i think is the tmobile and im going to extrapolate Cana as Canada or the i317m
Not sure what they would do though. Maybe something to do with the radio. I cant think of anything that is inherintley dfferent between the models but might be to enable different bands or something

I had to flash an AT&T modem and got it working again.
I was hoping that it would work. There has to be someone out there that knows how to get this working.

Are there any traces on the other side of the PCB for these points? If not... Then the only difference between them is the radio module. And these points are only to id the destination of the board.
Why make three boards if all you need is a different radio module and a dot of silver to make an id in the factory.

After further investigation of these points, they are connected to one another. Used a VOM to check continuity.
It's just for identification purposes. Oh well, worth a shot.

Those points are for the wireless back plate that Samsung was suppose to release for the note 2 but never did. You can find a thread in the n7100 of a user who jerryrigged a wireless charging solution.
As for using your phone on tmobile, why not follow the tutorial readily found to unlock the AWS band instead of just flashing a modem and possibly bricking the phone?

I guess you didn't read the whole thread? Those aren't for wireless charging, identification purposes. All of them are connected to each other, like a common ground.
I already flashed a T-Mobile modem and didn't brick the phone. Already did the AWS band thing.
Sorry I did miss what you wrote. I think those points are carrier identifiers before the software AWS unlock came about. So if anyone has a stock at&t phone and desoldered the point and soldered together the t889 point and stuck in a t mobile sim, I guess it would work fully on the AWS band.

No problem. I do get UMTS3 and it switches to HSPA+ 15 and its slower than UMTS3 most of the time.
I'm sure I did the AWS unlock right. When I found those solder points I was hoping to be able to get LTE like our S4 does but, I don't.
