Dead Evo-Fixed!

Phone was running Miui's latest rom with Tiamat's 4.0.2 sbc kernel and then viperboys BSM v2. Well today my phone totally died, zeroed out. I put it on my car charger and it was charging but I noticed it stayed at 0% for some time. Anyway, I finally get home and it's around 11% while getting out of the car. I plug it into my regular wall charger and set it down and this was earlier today. I go to pick it up and it's dead. No response, no lights, not even a flicker. I take the USB cable and plug it into my computer and I get a very very feint red light that blinks maybe 3-4 times then it's gone. Well needless to say second time I tried I got it to come on but for a split second then that's it.
What could have happened?

This is indeed tragic. I say, try booting into recovery or fastboot and plug it in to do an ruu. Best of luck

I can't even get the phone to turn on. If it's plugged in via USB to computer it'll come on but if you blink you'll miss it. Quick shut on then off.
I've read if these drain too low, then the phone won't allow a charge. I've got it on a stand-alone prong charger now and it looks like it may be charging. I think it's time to invest into a extended battery.

My guess is the battery. Might need to take it to sprint and let them boost it. I've seen this a few tines where it gets so low it wont charge.

Well guess I just let my battery get too low. I've got my own fancy Chinese made charger though that will charge any battery using just 2 prongs.

Lol yeah it's crazy.
Just for the record guys. With my setup I posted up top, I went into battery monitor and looked at the history to see what was up. Turns out my battery percentage was all over the place and eventually started de-charging itself till it KO'd. I reset the BSM and I'm now using Tiamat with no SBC. So far so good.

i was useing an sbc kernal and like many have warned to not leave it on the charger overnight thats what i did every night my phone was acting the same way put it on the charger at 65% woke up in the morning to find it at 50% took the back off the phone off put the old battery in charged perfect inspected the first battery the plastick was comeing off and the battery was slighly swollen. im glad hts all that happened switched back to stock cm7 kernal andgot a new battery happy as a clam

did you try the wall charger first. PC ports only put out 500mAh at max per port, where as you typical wall charger for the Evo should put out 1Ah. (I dont know if you already did this) Also, car chargers dont have the strongest power output.
If none of that works, then try a new batter.
Disregard, didn't see that you got it fixed lol...you can use this info for future reference?

Yeah I tried all that and it seemed at the time my port on the PC was putting out more than the wall charger. But I'm looking into getting an extended battery. For now everything's all good.

Had that happen to me acouple of times. Thought usb was bad thought maybewall plug tried everything. Took bat out if phone and left for an hour. Put back in phone and it took a charge fine.. later search and found that evo has a safety if bat drains to low they will sometime lock the charging mechanism and to leave bat out for awhwile is only fix.

Charging very slow? And losing battery even while charge?!?!

So I cant stand the fact that my phone charges pretty damn slow. I use the stock charger, running freegs3 along with the ktoonsz kernel. I have my settings set up as illustrated in the ktoonsz kernel discussion thread. As im typing this, I plugged my phone at 11% about 10 minutes ago. Its now at 7%. The brightness is -50% thanks to lux auto brightness and only have wifi running. Im only texting. Nothing major being done here. I have my fair list of apps frozen, as suggested in a few other threads and qosmanager and gsiff renamed. please help. Also my phone is at 102 degrees according to battery indicator and also running stock battery. I also use juice defender pro if that helps. Just trying to give as much info as possible.

you look to see what apps are using the most of your battery? what about a different battery charger, does it still act the same?

Try a different micro usb cable.

Turn WiFi off when you charge your phone. Mine does the same thing, but it doesn't loose charge it just charges very slowly.

Charging from a computer or outlet?

Charging from outlet. Wifi is off. I guess ill try a different USB cable. Should I use my nexus 7 adapter or is that too much power. I dont want to fry my phone.

Okay i changed my usb cable from the stock gs3 to my nexus 7 cable and its charging alot faster. Im still using the original stock adaptor. So i believe the culprit is the usb cable, i should be able to get a replacement from ebay or somewhere right? I love the samsung cable cause of its length. Nothing can really beat that.

I would get the Gator Ruggedized micro USB cable on Amazon. It's 6 feet and comes with a warranty, and is clothed with red and black. I just ordered it, and am very excited for it.

i was looking up reviews on amazon, but alot of people said its for the kindle. I just want an idea of how it fits and the quality of it from a fellow xda'er

I read that it works as a data sync cable for the Kindle, so. It should be universal. Just DM me or whatever, I'm new to XDA, and I can tell you what I think when I get it.

I use my bro's iPad adapter sometimes...phone is charged with that thing! I rarely use it though.

Hey, I just got that cord in the mail today. I love it. It's a nice, thick, heavy duty cord. Charges great with stock AC adapter. The plug also fits the phone very well. Highly recommend it.

[Urgent] Irregular charging problem!

I'm having a very peculiar charging problem with my Note 2.
I should disclose, I'm using my S3's charger since I've misplaced mine. So I'm using a 1A charger instead of the higher capacity 2A Note 2 charger. But that still doesn't give any reason for this to happen.

As you can see in the last 3 grids (1 grid = 1 hour), my Note 2 charged from around 22% to 100%. That's 78% in 3 hours.
Then today:
Check out the last 4 grids. That's actually my phone on CHARGE! Barely 5% in 4 hours, and you can see how inconsitant the graph is!
What could be wrong??
I'm on Paranoid Android and Neak Kernel. But I remember having this problem even when I was on stock kernel, I thought flashing another one would fix this but it didn't.

Try a different cable.....though that doesn't explain the fast charging....either way, try it. I was so surprised by how different they can be.

I've tried different cables and entire chargers too. Happened again last night. Around 12 hours of charging, 6 to 35 percent.
Please help me debug this!

Similar problem here - some days my Note 2 will charge, other days it won't charge at all (doesn't even register as charging).
No obvious reason for this. Tried 4 different leads, 2 different batteries and 3 different kernels. Sometimes charging is fine, other times, no charging.
I've had to buy an external battery charger from eBay...

I have the slow charge issue if the cabke is curled up but if I lay cable out flat (no loops) it charges very fast. Not sure why it makes a difference but it does for me.

Whoa. This is weird then. My only last hope was trying a 2A charger but I guess it'll give the same results

Guys I have the same problem with all kernels available. I can say only with perseus kernel the problem can be solved. With need the options: ignore safety margins and ignore 100 ma for safe chip. With that two options the phone just charge as fast like 1500 ma. The battery will charge conpketely with 2.5 hrs.

Do you have STweaks installed? Try to do some adjustment to the "power" section and see if it helps.

I'll try those settings out. While we're on the battery topic, can someone recommend some ROM+Kernel (and settings) which give great battery life? PA+Neak is disappointing :/

I'm having the exact same problem on just a rooted stock rom, 4.1.2. Could I have the name of this battery monitor app so I can graph my charging rate too? I'm interested in what is going on.

The fix is using perseus kernel and ticking the options says "ignore unstable power".
It used to charge at 600, now it charges at 1700..

Hmm it says Perseus Kernel is not a stock Kernel. I'm using Paranoid Android so I can't use it I guess?
Is there something like this in NEAK kernel?

Ok about a two year old galaxy s2 (SCH-R760) to be exact and is now having charging problems as of now to this date... im not sure what is going on at this point but two different charges that have been tested and working are now refusing to charge the android (it registers it as it is charging but the battery is draining and charging when the phone is off results in hours of supposedly charging and the battery not increasing by even 1%) i have an external wall charger that charges the battery out of the android on the wall (that charges it just fine and it is a brand new battery not even one month old yet) ive tested this while being rooted and custom rom as well as just flashing back to stock software unrooted and still have the exact same effects.. (ive opened the case to see if the port is loose but it practically looks brand new inside and doesnt appear to move or budge at all).. im running out of options here at the moment and would greatly appreciate any thoughts on anything of this matter

You are in the wrong thread. This is for the SPH-D710 but it sounds like you may have bought a faulty battery. Try another one and see if that helps.

No, the US Cellular model uses our ROMs but they have to use a converter.

Could be a bad battery as stated, or the battery is loose in the phone and not making good contact or the usb post may be dirty or damaged. Try cleaning the usb slot with a qtip and alcohol. Make sure all the prongs are straight.

I had the problem that one of my connection posts was bent in too much, if you do mess with them BE CAREFUL. They are very fragile.

Thanks a lot guys and yes bilg is right about the uscc version being the same I haven't used alcohol or tried that yet but I can I've cleaned it out and everything and from my angle it looks like the prongs are straight

If you believe its not the port...maybe take a volt meter ( powered ) and test the circuit in the battery compartment. I've never tried this , but it should read out just like any other circuit .. Easy way to be sure that the battery connections inside are good.. I'm not sure which plates are which..but I think my battery says..so maybe yours does to..
I believe you should get a reading between + and - ...and if they are the outside plates ( respectively ) . Then you should get a reading from each of those to the middle one..
This is just me applying my knowledge of house electric...the way a phone is wired is beyond me..so I could be miles from right...

That's what gave me the idea of testing the battery terminals on the phone...might work...might not. I don't have a volt meter with me or is give it a go..

My Note II taking 12+ hours to charge, sometimes shows 24+ hours to full charge, help

My 3 years old Note II - N7100 is acting weird since few months, when I connect to charger it takes more than 12 hours to full charge. I connect it to charger overnight, and when I see in the morning it's just around 60%, it charges 60% in 8-9 hours.
But this keeps changing, few nights ago it charged only 20% overnight.
I changed my 3 years old battery thinking that might be a problem, bought Intex 2500mah one , same problem. Changed chargers, I usually use my Note 5's original charger but no use. I was using custom Rom - Eclipse,then flashed original Rom but still problem persist. I thought my usb port must be faulty so ordered usb flex from eBay and changed it, but didn't work, actually after installing new usb flex, my mic stopped working but charging showed same - 12+ hours time, so returned it.
So what you think is the problem? Should I buy new original battery or try another usb flex? I am frustrated. Sorry for long Question.

Try to test using a different cable... and also check if your adapter is working properly...
most of the time the cable is at fault...

Install app galaxy charging current and see what current your charger and cable is giving should be around 1500. Most of time cable and charger is at fault. Hope it helps

I m using my note 5 fast charger, which works fine on my note 5.i also used xiaomi Charger.

I had the same problem that it's located on charger metallic electrolitic capacitors (390 uF 10V). I changed both for 470uF 16V and now it's working fine again.

I removed charger port, sprayed some WD 40, cleaned with earbuds and as I mentioned I have also tried replacing USB Flex, did not work.

I had the same problem. Mine solved by charging the device couple of times while it's off. Now the device gets charged in 2-3 hours.

Problem solved, after trying everything changing cable worked. My note 5 cable charges my note 5 fast but same cable takes 20 hrs to charge note 2, combination of note 5 adapter and gionee cable worked. Now it takes around 2 hours to full charge my note 2.
