bluetooth map syncmail - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Anyone got this phone to work with BMW mobile office? I can't find a ROM with Bluetooth map or syncmail support... not even cm10 toro.

google has locked down gmail and no longer allows any app or service to read its email database. It has been like that since gingerbread

Bluetooth MAP Profile

Okay, supposedly this phone supports the MAP profile, however, I can't seem to get it to work on any FORD / Chrysler / etc. device that supports the Message Access Profile for utilizing SMS over Bluetooth.
I know that CM7 recently committed some patches to enable MAP for CM7 devices.
Does anyone have any idea?
I tried querying the device capabilities by using 'sdptool browse local' to see if it was listed, but that returns can't connect to service.
Thanks!

Our stock based kernels have trouble with this from what I understand. Running cm7 alpha is the only way I've seen it work.
What is the map profile?

It is "Message Access Profile" a bluetooth profile that allows sms and email transmission over bluetooth.
Ford Sync and Chrysler/Dodge and BMW have car audio systems that use this profile to allow the radio to 'read' text messages (and on some, email msgs) and allow canned responses to be sent without using your hands. It will also alert tone when a msg is received.
Hopefully that explains it.

Do you have a link to this ROM? I just want to test it myself. (The CM7 patches for MAP profile weren't committed until around the 11th of Jan - and I haven't seen any ROMs for CM7 for our phones after that date)
Thanks!
try ecid it eliminates need for that, reads your text over bluetooth

That's cool - I tried it on my G2 with the latest CM7 compiled with the MAP commits, however, I'm guessing it's hardware dependent?? as well, since it didn't work on the G2. (nowhere in the G2 specs is MAP listed as a BT Profile)
What did you sync to to test on your HD2? Uconnect? Sync?

GPS/Navigation issue

Hi everyone,
The issue I'm having with my GPS is that it will not say the street names when navigating. I called Samsung and they do not know why it's not working properly. They told me to call Google. I called Google and they told me to call my carrier. I called Rogers and they said it has nothing to do with them because it's a 3rd party app and it's a software issue. I'm getting nowhere with these people. I did a factory reset last night and I tested out the GPS and it was actually saying the street names. I used it today and it's back to "turn left, turn right, and so on. When I had the Nexus S, the GPS was working perfectly fine. I just bought the phone so I can exchange it for another one. But if someone can help me fix the issue here, that would be great.
My GN is from Rogers, running on 4.0.1. I do not want to root the phone.
Thanks.
No one else had or have this issue??
So this is less a GPS issue (it tracks your location fine, yes?) and more of an issue with the Navigation app? Is this the stock Android Navigation application or a third-party one?

It's not accurate in tracking my locations, but yes it does track it ok. It's more of a navigation issue. Yes it's the stock Android Navigation application that I'm having issues with. I never had this issue with any other Android I have owned.
Nexus S worked perfectly fine. I'm also using a Samsung S2 and it works perfectly fine. Worked fine with the other HTC's, Motorola's and SE's I had too.

Hmmm... have you tried a different Text-to-Speech engine? I'm partial to the IVONA TTS. I'm wondering if the shortfall is with the TTS engine you're using or with the Navigation app itself.
ICS has had gps bug updated you are on old dinosaur 4.0.1 ... the only thing i can suggest is update to 4.0.4 yakjuux (which your rogers phone is yakjuux). I know you dont want to root but ... how about just unlock bootloader flash stock 4.0.4 and relock bootloader and nobody will know the difference the toolkit can do all this for you with little effort ... thats all i can suggest to solve this issue

No I didn't try a different text to - speech engine. I actually liked the stock navigation. Got used to it.

My friend bought his GNex from Bell on the first day it was launched. He didn't have any issues with navigation and it was running on 4.0.1. Could it be an issue with the phone? The Navigation app does not show up in my "ALL" apps.

It won't show up under Settings --> Apps, as I believe it is just a component of the Maps package. Have you made sure that is up to date in the Play Store?

Actually, it looks like that may be the problem! http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=29811
Apparently, Going to Settings --> Apps --> All, selecting Maps and choosing to Uninstall Updates will fix this.

I've had problems similar to this happen to me, only twice in about three years. Anyway, the fix was uninstalling the app and reinstalling it. Then Google maps started working again as it should.

MS Exchange fails with Android 4.1.2 Update

Howdy,
got some problems with my GNex.
Yesterday I did a factory update to 4.1.2 installed my apps and set up my stock E-Mail Tool to get my cooperate mails.
First step worked, so it verifies my device, asks me to crypt my data, allows remote deletion etc.
So next step I want to get my mails synced, nothing happens, no packets leave the device from here.
Any suggestions for me?
Tried using EmailGoogle.(apk|oedx) from a 4.1.1 backup, but this does not work.
I really could need a helping hand, cause mails are very important for me.

I've been experiencing this issue since JB release for our device. Tech support said it would be fixed in this update which I have not received over OTA yet. Very much sad that it appears not to be resolved.
Call and use the product support forums on Google to report this matter.

Delete the Exchange Account, disable autosync in the background (submenu under data usage) and configure your Exchange from new. After the first sync you can reactivate autosync. A bug common in all JB Variants. I can also explain it in German or Bavarian if you want (PM).

Pal, you are getting OT. No, i think not, everything is hackable - but therefore i must not let the door already open. There is an significant difference letting an Exchange Server communicate over port 80 or 443. Do what you do, Your view of this is horrible. You do not unlock your car or house, right ?
End of Discussion for me.

Sorry but this is really asinine, ever heard the word MITM attack or security?
Guess not and btw:
`--> nmap -sV -p 80,443 xxx.zzz.tld
Starting Nmap 6.01 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2012-10-22 14:05 CEST
Nmap scan report for xxx.zzz.tld (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
Host is up (0.0011s latency).
PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION
80/tcp filtered http http
443/tcp open ssl/http Microsoft IIS
so perhaps you can see, there is no unsecured http, guess why...

Man in the middle attack I know it and tried it on my home network only once only to test my security.
The good thing in Android devices " you can't find them on the network if you used Armitage , even it won't find the IP address " . You can locate computers running Linux , Mac, windows even blackberry devices . But not Android.
On the other hand if you are using MITM with SSL still you will get the password in a hash form

You misunderstood SSL I guess.
There is now password in "hash form" you can read...
you can try to break the SSL for itself. But no clear hash for you.
Armitage? For me it's CAM, Metasploit... and there is nothing you can hide your droid in a switched network.
It's still relying on a MAC Adresse, an ARP table...

After upgrading my Samsung Galaxy Note to JellyBean 4.1.2 v5.1 (custom rom Ultimate XXLSC) I'm not able to setup exchange account. Unfortunately solution from this topic does not work for me. Getting: Incorrect user name or password
Any ideas?
i have an n7000 and n7105 both on 4.1.2 having the issue your little fix didn't work for me either
i have 2 note II's one rooted on PACMAN 4.2.2 and one on stock 4.1.2 Nothing works

[Q] PS Vita won't communicate with any Jelly Bean-based ROM's wifi AP

So this is a bizarre situation that I hope someone might have some insight on but to be honest, I'm not expecting much
For some reason my PS Vita will connect to my phone's wifi hotspot just fine in ICS-based ROMs like CM10, however it will connect, get an IP address, and appear to communicate but time out when trying to connect to the playstation network or anything at all when using either stock Jelly Bean or any of the various edits I've tried.
I've tried about everything I can on the Vita end but there isn't a whole lot I can do there other than clear settings, try static DNS, things like that. The only thing that seems to work is using old ICS-based ROMs.
Has anyone experienced anything like this, or have any ides for deeper diagnostics I can do?
Cm10 just happens to be jellybean so did it work for cm9 or cm10 or was it working with 4.0.x and not with 4.1.x or is it just 4.2.x its not working with?

Is there anything I can do so I have enough data for a proper bug report? A netcat tool or something? How would I go about investigating this issue?

I'm on Verizon and just got pushed JDQ39. It was totally working in the previous version (which I think was 4.1.1 but I don't know). Now, like you, the Vita connects, gets an IP address, but can't connect to anything.

Someone tell me if 4.4 will work or what I can change, downgrade to, or possibly replace as a tethering app. I've tried all the non-root ones such as foxfi with the same results.
Update, it works with liquidsmooth ics rom 4.0.4

I just updated the Google Search app. Google Now is even better, and the bluetooth works in Google Now and with Google Search. I love it - this is what it was supposed to be like.
Now, if we can fix bluetooth call recording...

When I got my Note II just over a month ago, I was disappointed to find that it would not stay connected to the Bluetooth Handsfree in my new Honda CR-V. Every few minutes it would disconnect, then later reconnect.
Since the LTE/4.1.2 update, the Bluetooth Handsfree connection has been 100% reliable. So, at least one thing was fixed.
I'm using the official firmware release. It is rooted so I could remove some bloatware. Othewise it is stock.
