Nope.

Yo I just woke up and have a T-Mobile update. My phone is rooted. I can't just run the update can I ?

Nope it will fail...

Yeah so I just paid for SuperSU pro so it would keep root after the OTA. Ran the OTA and everything seemed fine until I got this...
So I went and checked the load I had and it's the updated version LJ4. Any thoughts?

The source is out for the sprint version
I don't see it for the T-Mobile version

I used voodoo root keeper and unrooted my phone, did the update and then re rooted. Worked great

T-mobile software update
Ok i have new software update should i postpone or update I'm rooted :what is in the new T-mobile update?

PSA: People, if you get an update, post what you are on right now so we know if your getting the same update that was released weeks ago that everyone else already has, or if its truly a new update please.

I am stock/rooted and on UVLH2. The update showed up yesterday morning. I also keep receiving a samsung account update. I hit update then it disappears, then shows up again some time later.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium

For those wondering, this may not be the update you were expecting i.e. JB. Received update notification last night. Update upgraded software from UVLH2 to UVALJ4 which is still 4.0.4. Wife received notification last afternoon. Phones are only a week old on the network.

Voodoo root keeper will work. Just install it, click temp unroot, install the update, phone will reboot and then go back into voodoo and restore root. If you get some xxxx app has stopped, un install the specific apps, reboot and reinstall them. Its works for me.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

If the Update is under 100mb then this is not JB. Sorry. Also, if you are one LH2, then this will updated you to LJ4 (ICS like the poster above stated). Sorry again.
Silver lining? Since Sprint is getting theirs pushed over the next few days, that means that it is very clear all the carriers have it and are bloating as we speak. Many people/sites/blogs said that it will be this month, next month 1Q of 2013 for TMo.
I suggest going to tech sites like Engadget, Phandroid, Android Police,...as once the TMo update rolls out, they will be awash with stories about it. Case-in-point, Google SPH-L710 Official Jelly Bean Update and see how many links come up or how many threads.

Can confirm this is uvalj4. Dis use root keeper and worked perfect.

[Q] 4.24.651.1 maintainence release

Has anyone heard anything about this update? I am wondering if this may be my chance to gain root access by waiting for a rooted version?
I "heard" one person...ONE that says he/she got the OTA. I'm not buying it. Oh well...just waiting for the rooted update, if in fact the OTA even went out.
Can I haz Netflix?

Hello I'm new here and I would like to ask if I should wait for someone to root the 4.22.651.2 or I should just download the new its the 4.24 and forget about rooting my EVO
So the golden rule is of course never take OTA updates. However, I look at it this way. Your already unrooted, and if they find an exploit were still looking at several weeks before it's released so why not see what the new firmware brings.
Im guessin now that this latest OTA is released things may progress, but what the heck do I know.
I got the update this morning.
So what happened? Is this a whole new ROM or just a patch?
i SAW, AND AS SURE AS SNOT IS SLIPPERY, DID NOT INSTALL TILL I KNOW WHAT IT DOES

The point is not that he wants the update... its that Google has not pushed the update to the IO devices.

Well he may be waiting a very long time as IO devices are generally the very last to be updated.

If I have to flash it, eventually I will. I wanted to keep this as my stock dev device for development and would've expected that the devices given to the developers at Google IO wouldn't be receiving the updates late... assuming that this thing will get an update at sometime in the future. Very surprising since I would've thought the phones handed to devs, if any, should be first in line to receive updates, unless something has gone wrong with my update.

Sorry to hear it. I fully agree but I think Google view is that it is a dev device so you can update with the 4.1.2 firmware currently available. Send Google an email and see what they say.

Well, I called Samsung and they said it was the carrier's responsibility. Uh, what carrier? This is a GSM phone that's not from T-Mobile. Weird, I figure their staff just can't handle the question. I get the number for their "expert" support. He says to talk to Google.
I hunt the contact number for Google devices and get a nice guy who has me turn on airplane mode, then turn on wifi. Then clear data for Google app services. Check the about settings, last update check was in 1969. <sigh>, yes, I've done this, but I'll try again. No update found.
He said that it was strange. The update should've been pushed out to it by now and something was wrong, but couldn't help. The only thing left to do was to ship it to Samsung and have them flash the ROM on it.
Forget that, I gave up and I flashed the 4.1.2 factory image myself. I guess I could've saved myself some time by doing it in the first place, but I'm still curious and would like to know why I got the 4.1.1 OTA but 4.1.2 didn't work. Weird.
FYI, my IO nexus just got the update to 4.1.2 today, almost a full month after it started rolling out.

4.2.2

So I read that an official update is coming for the note 2. However I have since left att, unlocked my phone, enabled AWS band and rooted . (How ever I'm running stock room) when this update comes out. Do I do it. ..do I wait for a cracked release. ... If I do it do I lose aws... do I lose my root.
Thanks for your help.

Rooted devices generally do not play well with OTA updates.
You would want to be in stock configuration to take an update, in order for a complete backup to be made, then root again.
Unless of course you want to remain stock.
But either way, updates while rooted and modified "WILL" give you issues.....g
What about the aws bands? Would I lose that?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Returning to stock yes...
Taking an update while rooted with custom files ??....unknown.
It would largely depend on the type of update, and the files being replaced. We have no way of knowing what Samsung will push to us, if ever....g

stop at&t ota update notice from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2?
Hi everyone,
I hope this is the correct forum. How do I stop getting the OTA update notices from At&t on my SGN2? I rooted it in March and I know that accepting At&t's updates will have negative affects. The notice pops up everyday all day and it's annoying. Does anyone know if there is a 4.2.2 update available on this site for my rooted SGN2 and if this will stop the notice from At&t? If so, will you post a link? I already have TWR installed.
Thank you,
tsairox
Titanium Backup (paid version) will give you option to "freeze" AT&T download.
This will stop notice.

I've had TB Pro for years. Never messed with it much. This worked fabulously! Thank you so much! No more annoying AT&T notifications!
I would also be very careful in updating. Galaxy s4 has a locked bootloader. I would not be surprised if 4.2.2 update for note 2 also locked the boot loader. I would rather apply a rooted and confirmed 4.2.2 update from here one xda once a developer confirms it's safe or has their own version.

I'm sure that won't be an issue. If I recall correctly, the devs on the s4 managed to fix that fairly quickly. Also, we have awesome devs here
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
I have an s4 also and the boot loader is not unlocked it is just a bootstrap fix like Motorola phones had. Samsung can easily patch the exploit in newer firmware releases both for galaxy s4 and note 2 if they choose to lock the bootloader always safer not to apply official ota updates. Any boot loader signed with a 2048 key is unbreakable currently unless somebody working for Samsung leaks an unlocked boot loader out.

[Q] Rooting Noob question

Greetings,
I rooted my GS3 using a stock ROM. Will I receive subsequent android update OTA, or will I have to search and download updates Manually?
No you will not receive updates. In order to receive updates, you will have to return to stock. Usually the devs put out a debloated version of any updates fairly quickly, so you could wait a day or two after an update is released to download and flash that.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Besides, if you wait for the OTA, you'd probably end up one of the 80% of people that get updated up to a few weeks after we've all been happily running it!

(Q) Has anyone gotten the AT&T 4.3 update?

While browsing Samsungs website I happened to click on our Note 2 model i317 and under OS it says 4.3, my question is has been released already? I haven't heard anything, This probably means that because Samsung gave At&t the update that it's just waiting for them to push it to us. Should be really soon, sprint already has theirs and I read that T-Mobilw just got theirs out
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Sprint's update is out, T-Mobile's is out, US Cellular's is out, Verizon's dropped today and we wait. Funny that AT&T was supposed to one of the earliest updates on the leaked list but we still wait. I just want it to get into the hands of the TW ROM teams, Ditto Note, Sky Note and Jedi so I can see what they do with it.
Yeah, my contract is up in January and I don't think I'm going to stick with AT&T. It seems like they really don't update their phones if they don't absolutely have to. =/
Thank God I am not with At&t and I am pretty sure this note will be the last phone I get that is At&t branded phone with how they are locking up their phones

What is the latest version from AT&T? I am still on 4.1.2. If I am in a different country will I still get an update if AT&T releases on update? Every time I check for an update it always says that I have the latest update.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I don't think that the update will be far behind the other carriers. At&t always waits till the last possible moment for anything. My guess is that it wont be an OTA but thru Kies which will suck cause my CPU just crashed on me the other day

Well as far as I can tell they're already the last carrier to push the update. The only question now is "WHEN?" (if ever, heh...)
As for Kies, I highly doubt it. Every other update was always OTA. Kies is just a convenience factor.
