Everytime i plug my aux port for my truck into the phone the music wont work unless i turn the volume down a click then back up. I am having this problem on two different roms but can remember if it was doing it stock because it didnt stay stock very long. Does this sound like a problem with the phone or could there be a fix somewhere i can do.
Thanks

I recommending that you try a different ROM or try a different aux cable. If that all fails, you might have to try flash back to stock with odin to see if that works.

yea it was. and i switched to serenity last night and so far nothing so the last two roms i ran must of been aosp. hopefully that solves it

So my dash has worked great for the 4 years of its life that I have had it with minor hiccups. This new one has me stumped though...
The phone seems to think it has a headset connected to the device when there is no headset connected. This "ghost" headset is preventing me from making/receiving calls; what is a phone that cannot function as a phone?
I am running an older version of EVO's ROM (havn't had access to a cord to try flashing to the new version because I am on holiday) but I have tried a hard restart and that did not work.
here is the quirky part... Sometimes if I reboot the phone it goes away, briefly. It may go away for a few min or it may only go away for a few seconds after the boot. If I reboot and it turns off, then I try calling someone really quick, the ghost may come mid call and essentially drop me because I can neither hear nor speak anymore.
My gut says its a hardware problem but I wanted to get some other opinions before I start opening things up.
Thanks in advance.
what happens when you do connect your headset? it seems like a hardware problem..
never have had a headset, whether bluetooth or physical... thus I am scratching my head even more...
*knock on wood*
I managed to find a usb cable and I hooked it up to my computer. The few restarts while connected to my computer in the effort of updating the rom seemed to make it stop. I am wondering if maybe the SDA unlock may have done the trick? None the less I was a version behind on my ROMs so I update to the latest EVO ROM and seems to be smooth sailing.
well, i woke up this morning with an error on my phone that went away after i accidentally hit the w/e button only to notice the ghost headset was back... will try to find the error but suggestions are still welcome...
a hard reset with last 3VO's ROM may work
tried that, it booted up with the headset icon on the top lol

JHaste,
Lets forget testing a phone with a custom ROM, go back to your stock and see if happens?
Also in this process flash stock & hard-reset... & install nothing
Now if all is fine you have a clean base for custom ROM NAND flash has issues and can have residual stuff left from flashing to which is why i say flash stock etc.....
Good luck

Had this problem for only a minute. Either do a factory data reset or try reflashing the ROM. Backup first of course.

Searched high and low for this. And I finally found it!
This is the exact problem I am having except it doesn't seem to be confined to ROM. Also, USB still works properly. The problem is the phone keeps thinking it's connecting / disconnecting to USB all day long and for some reason this kills the battery life. It also makes it impossible to see notifications in the bar without sliding it down (the bar is constantly flashing USB connected).
I had this problem on SRF1.2 (EC05) and ODIN'd to EH17 last night... there's no way the problem could carry over if it was a software issue right? Well, the USB was connecting/disconnecting as soon as EH17 booted.
Any insight into what is causing this? I'm starting to think my only option is to ODIN back to stock and bring it in to a Sprint store...
UPDATE: It seems the problem has 'stabilized' a bit... the USB connection is now ALWAYS considered to be on and no longer flashes connect/disconnect over and over. Maybe I just need to clean out the USB contacts?
One last bump of this thread for ideas... I really don't want to take it in to a Sprint store. Problem is still ongoing and cripples my phone to just a few hours battery life. Is there some way I can clean out the contacts of the usb connection? This might be where the "false connections" are coming from.
Open to any other ideas.
My girlfriends phone did that for about 10 minutes one day last week. I just took my better than stock micro usb cable and gently jiggled the connection a bit. We haven't had an issue with it since. Her stock cord went bad at that same point in time, so she uses a better one now as well. I would imagine you probably already tried this, but I figured i'd post my experience.

I have been having a reboot problem on my t989, it has been turning itself after ive turned it off when i plug it into a charger.I have been trying to figure this problem out for the last to months and a havent pin pointed the problem. i have checked if it was the sd card and it wasnt that , it happened two months ago when i was running darkside evolution v8 tdj.and have tried many roms to see if it was darkside and it was not. but whenever I switch to a stock firmware such as GB or stock tmobile ICS the problem stops. i am currently running clones and drones. please if anyone knows how to fix this problem or knows whats causing this to happen it will be very appreciated. thank you!
Sounds to me like you already know the cause. When you go back to stock, do you also replace the recovery? I seem to recall there was a similar glitch in the tmo g2 where it would boot to recovery if it was powered off when attached to the charger.

Its not booting into recovery its turning itself on. And yes when I switch to the stock firmware I flash it via Odin.
Well, I would say to try at least one other rom. The phone has to at least partially start up in order to control the charge cycle. (Chainfire has a charge animation replacement for one of the galaxy s phones on the play story, IIRC) So at least part of the kernel starts...

Okay I will try that. And I was watching it do the self turn on and on the top corner very shortly it says something about safe mode and I'm guessing that's directly corrilated with the problem but how is it related is my question
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I didn't find anything from a forum search. For some reason, I have absolutely no sound coming out from my phone. I can get sound from it when headphones are plugged in, but nothing else works yet. Im currently doing a backup and will try factory resetting, but just hoping there may be a solution out there before I leave for work.
Check the phone doesn't still think your headphones are plugged in. It's happened to many XS users

I get my headphone icon when i plug them in and get audio no problem, but as soon as they are removed it goes back to no audio. The first time i noticed it was when an alarm went off and i went to turn it off the audio stopped but it continued to vibrate. That was two nights ago now and i haven't had sound since. I'm unrooted with locked boot loader if it might help at all... I'm out of ideas
So the headphone icon appears and disappears as it should when plugged in and out? It's not staying shown when headphones are unplugged?

Did u try re-flashing a stock ftf with flashtool ?
That's going to be my next test when i get home from work in a few hours. was just hopping there might be a fix that could work in the meantime
Just finished re-flashing the stock ftf, and still no sound. The only thing I can think of left to try is opening the phone and seeing if its a short/loose wire, but I don't own torx screwdrivers and I can't find them in this area
Just what the title says. My i747's wifi suddenly won't turn on.
The "switch" to turn it on is grey and won't move.
I have been running LiquidSmooth ROM for a month or so. Before that, MIUI since pretty much the first day I got the phone in August. All of a sudden 2 days ago my wifi wouldn't work. No icon, nothing.
I reflashed back to stock last night to try and see if maybe it was the ROM, but it still wouldn't turn on.
I took apart the phone to see if maybe one of the antennae had come loose and ran a heat gun lightly around the motherboard to reflow the solder.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
-j
i have had no wifi issues on many roms i have used. what has fixed it for me was trying a different kernel other than the kernel including in the rom. switching kernels always worked for me.

Well, the thing is that it just happened all of a sudden out of the blue. I had been using the same kernel since day one.
But, just for poops and weird girl laughs, I flashed a couple more different kernels. No luck. It still won't turn on. The "button" "moves" now, but I still get the "Wifi turning on..." message.

When you went back to stock did you try the Odin way of going to stock? You can also try factory resetting the phone after you use Odin under phone settings.

Yes, I used the Odin way of flashing back to stock. When that didn't work I tried flashing TWRP and CWM recoveries and tried flashing that way as well. Again, no luck
Sounds like a hardware issue. I would check out warranty options. I hope things work out.
