Hi everyone, i got some questions about the IMEI that i don't know so much about How do people lose their IMEI, get blacklisted and can it be fixed? does it depend how i/they flash things? i have flashed so many things and never losed my IMEI but do i need to worry ?
no need to worry.
it wont walk away
only with a fail during unlocking or rom manager usage on the wrong way will lose your IMEI. no need to worry

flash back to original dutch rom for your provider(vodafone, kpn, telfort, tmobile)
and try again.
try with different simcard from the same provider so unlocking isnt needed and you can check or it is your sim or phone.

In the US T-Mobile is now blacklisting imeis of people that buy their phone on a payment plan and then stop paying. They are also blacklisted occasionally when reported stolen. These phones sometimes make it to online sellers and work for a while then stop because the original owner stopped paying there bill.

Ask them to unblock the IMEI. I am the same situation except my phone is a warranty replacement from T-Mobile.

They most likely will not un-blacklist an IMEI for this reason, but sure, why not try.
If you're not super lucky you'd best just sell it for parts and be more careful next time.
Im a little confused and im wondering if someone can help me out or if someone is going through the same thing i am.... :crying::crying::crying:
So i just got a Galaxy Note 2 from my fathers friend at work and i am wondering is this considered when they say being a blocked IMEI cause its a little confusing...
So I have T-Mobile and i received the Note 2 it is not rooted or anything and the IMEI matches the same in the "About Device" and in the back behind the battery so anyways i go and pop my micro sim card in and notice right away it gets no service it just has a circle with a horizontal line accross like seen on the pics and the lock screen just says "Searching".. i go into mobile networks and try to manually select the T-mobile network and it just gets stuck on "Registering to T-Mobile" then i get an error in my notifications that says "No Service Selected Network (T-Mobile) not available" so right away im assuming that the IMEI must be bad so i call T-Mobile give them the IMEI and they tell me its NOT blocked so now it gets confusing.
while i was still messing with it i decided to turn ON wi-fi and all of a sudden the wi-fi calling feature turns on and viola! the circle with the horizontal line changes to empty service bars and in the notifications dropdown it now says T-Mobile so i go on and make a call IT WORKS! send a text IT WORKS receive calls and texts ALSO WORK! now isnt that wierd?
what do you guys think might be wrong with the phone is the IMEI really blocked but if it is will i be able to make calls and send and receive texts i dont understand please some one help me any advice will be appreciated.. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks (here are pics of screen shots)

Generally, when your IMEI is blocked, you'll have bars and even data. Your phone just won't work. So I doubt it's that. The fact that WiFi calling works tells me that the SIM reader works. Do you know if the phone was taken apart? Maybe the antenna is messed up. Id just try going somewhere else to use your phone and try.
Possibly root and flash different modem?

The sim card reader does work cause sometimes out of the blues the phone will register on the network and im able to use it fully as it should and then it goes back to having the little circle with a line accross it.... today it behaved preety good it gave me a good amount of time of usage but it would still randomly cut off and come back on..... as far as being opened im starting to think it maybe was opened or something cause it doesnt have the "VOID" sticker on the screw in the back like it should..... and maybe what u said about flashing a different modem how can I check what modem I have now?? I don't think there actually is a void sticker.. When I opened mine up, I didn't find one . I could have just over looked it possibly. Just try flashing JediM14. Comes with everything you need much better than stock. I'm thinking maybe tmobile is working on your area so you have intermittent service. Could be anything. I'll try to help you look into it. As long as you're stock and unrooted, you might be able to get a warranty replacement. I know you're not the original owner but it really depends on the rep that you get on the phone. If you get the right rep they'll warranty it based on the fact that no matter who originally purchased the phone, there's no way it could be more than a year old. Or, if you have the premium handset protection, you should be able to get it covered under the extended warranty that it offers.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Call Tmobile and tell them your situation. They'll reset your connection to the towers and it might help. They've done that for me. Just ask for like a connection reset. Even better if you just told them what's happening.

Could be antena problem. Had that happen to me with my skyrocket. The one end was not connecting to the right place. Somebody accidentally cut it off when I had the speaker fixed.

Could be this. I bought a replacement loudspeaker that was apparently for the T889 (which it wasn't)..[Most loudspeaker modules that say they are for the T889 are missing the third contact.] It was a missing a antenna contact which totally killed my reception. Try to take it apart and look at the loudspeaker. There should be three white tab looking things on the module itself. If there's only two, then that's most likely the problem.
Hi folks.
I'm switching networks from O2 to talktalk (vodafone) and I'm wondering if anyone can direct me to a free method of doing this. I've watched the videos on youtube that allow it to be done by dialing “*#197328640#” on the phone but when I enter the network lock section it says "MENU NOT EXIST"
I'm guessing this is an O2 thing so can anyone help me find a way to get my device unlocked?
ps. Hope I have this in the correct section. I've also tried searching on here but no joy.
Thanks

I downgraded to 4.1.1 to try using the *#197328640# method but that hasn't worked.
I've tried using the old version kdogguk posted but i'm getting invalid IEMI number now but it's saying my phone is unlocked
my phone is locked tho as it won't take my new talktalk sim.
My phone was stuck on boot screen when I downgraded and I had to root though odin then reset it before it would work so I think I've downgraded to the wrong firmware as it is now branded O2 firmware where as before even tho it was locked to O2 the firmware was neutral (not O2 branded).
I've rooted as I said but it won't install custom roms so I have a problem now. Going to upgrade to 4.1.2 but need to make sure I have the right firmware this time.
I'm having some time of it right now lol
This galaxysim app is now saying my phone is unlocked but it won't take my talktalk (vodafone) sim
Still no luck? My note 2 was on o2 first thing I done was root it, tried that code but didnt work then used galaxsim its free but said it could be done paying £2 something. Then I installed a standard btu rom. Funny thing is not tried diffe sim yet. Just hate locked phones

turn off data. turn off mobile. turn them back on. reboot.
Galaxsim was saying my phone is unlocked but it wouldn't take my talktalk sim. I ended up paying £9 to get it unlocked on ebay. Working fine now.
Strange because my phone is O2 but I've been running it with a 3 sim from day one.

To unlock it you probably just need to flash an older modem.
You're using a model SGH-T999, right?

Once you know the model I might be able to help you further with both the unlock and imei problems.

If by bad IMEI, you mean it is blacklisted, then there is not anything we can do. The tools wont allow it and even if they did, it is not something we are allowed to do on XDA. Even if you bought it legitimately from someone else, it will still be considered stolen property.
If this is not what you mean by bad IMEI, go ahead and PM me with the following information:
Device Model
Current Rom
Current IMEI state (dont post the actual IMEI)
How was the IMEI initially lost?
Explanation of what you mean by "bad IMEI".
Thanks!

Your not the only one.
I bought my S3. T999 on eBay and when my wife tried to use it through t mobile, they said it was blacklisted due to non payment of phone.
I did some research and found out this is quiet common for people to get the no contract plan then ditch the phone when something new comes out IE s4 or S5 . I am currently in the process. of returning the phone to the seller. There is supposed to be a IMEI generator but I haven't found the software pieces to make it work.
It turns out that I really like android software and enjoy reading the tXDA threads. You can change the IMEI , but like Doc said , "there is really nothing they can do on this forum". Check. U tube and again watch for the scammers .
Dan
Changing the imei in almost all cases is very illegal. Also these devices have built-in checks they run on things like the imei, and if changed often results in instability and other odd problems.
I am very sorry to hear when this happens, few things get to me these days, but this is one of them. I wish carriers and authorities would do more to prosecute those who do. First, its outright stealing from the carriers, then they turn around and steal more from normal everyday people! Its theft by deception in both cases. Just because its stealing from a carrier that they often see as rich and evil, doesn't make it right! But that's how they justify it in their minds.
I do wish I could help in situations like this, but unfortunately there's just nothing that can be done.
Do your best to contact the seller to get your money back. If you can't, leave a scathing review on their profile or something and then report it to the police.
Your best option if you can't get your money back though, is to just resell the device, honestly. There are plenty of people that will still pay a decent amount for a blacklisted Note 3, provided its in good condition.
You'll probably take a bit of a loss, but you just have to chalk it up as one of life's more expensive lessons.
Sorry we can't do more....

I bought a T999 and it is unlocked because I can use other SIM cards but only on GPRS, not 3G. And also don't have data. Access point name is correct. Today i checked IMEI and it displays just /12 instead of the long number.
I don't really know how the IMEI was lost but i have tried flashing the firmware via ODIN and still the same. No IMEI.
Check swappa, and other sites and call T-Mobile to see if the imei is blacklisted.
Also, what is your firmware and baseband version?
gf reported her phone lost because it was cracked, samsung sent her a new one so now i want her old one. I put in my sim card but it says "Not register to network" im thinking maybe t-mobile blocked the phone somehow since it was reported lost but I figured there was a work around. Friend told me unlocking the phone and setting it to international radios may help but i have no idea how to do this since im new to the android community. Switching from iphone to android! Yup, T-Mobile blocked it.. There's no legal way around it, maybe your gf calling T-Mobile to unblock it, but they'll probably charge her full price for the one they sent her.. You could try using a different carrier, but it could end up being blocked again.. You could also sell it to someone in another country, blacklist won't go past the US

There are services that will fix this for you. I payed 35$ for my blocked tmobile s4 to be repaired.
I did this with an HTC EVO 3D. It was locked for 2 years so I flashed the phone to a different carrier and it worked. You might have problems with different features but it is posibble to still use the phone. Find a cellular store that will flash it. They normally charge around 50 dollars, give or take.

Go to network operators and I let it load and then it registers on the correct network.

gf reported her phone lost because it was cracked, samsung sent her a new one so now i want her old one. So yeah, please help!
White T-mobile Galaxy S4 on jellybean, updating it to kitkat though.
