[Q] Wi-Fi gets turned off when screen times out - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When my screen turns off, the Wi-Fi turns off after few seconds.
While Wi-Fi sleep policy is set to "Never" in the Settings >Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi Settings > MENU > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy.
Any clue ? Thanks

I have also gone through this thread for galaxy. But when I try to get into service mode
Code:
*#*#197328640#*#*
(I think that is the code for service mode for Wildfire, correct me if I am wrong)
It returns nothing.I think the code is not working on CM.
Also the other Wi-Fi testing codes are not working.
Code:
*#*#232339#*#* or *#*#526#*#* or *#*#528#*#*
Testing mode code
Code:
*#*#4636#*#*
is working and lead you to testing menu.
One more thing I have noticed that if I connect to my Router directly,Wi-Fi stays alive even after the screen turns off but when I connect it to a Hotspot using Connectify.Which is using a LAN connection,Wi-Fi gets turned off when screen times out.
Is there any way to get around ? Kernel might be the issue ? Reflashing would work ?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

which kernel u use? it is possible that kernel is main issue. if u didn't change kernel then try reflash. firstly without wipe all but when it won't help u than try wiping all or other rom :3

I hope you made a backup before flashing the new kernel, this is strange I use SympKernel v4.1.zip without problems, so all things considered I suggest a clean intallation of cm7 (power button + volume down to get into recovery )

I'm sorry but what are you doing?? Your downloading things ready to flash them even when you have no idea what they are or what they do.
Now I'm not being funny with you but PLEASE!!! Come on, read, research etc etc. If you don't know what or how a kernel is flashed then you seriously should not be messing with it.
P.s. I really don't know what all this obsession is with o/c to Max because then you'll be moaning about battery discharging too fast.

Matey, this has been answered a few times (to say the least) so try using the search bar to see if your question has already been answered, which i know it has.
If you are using CM7.1.0.1 u dont need to flash another kernal because the kernal that comes with the rom is oc'able.
Go to settings > cyanogen settings > performance > cpu
Use my settings in my Sig as a guide. These are tested and stable and battery life is fine. I do not need to OC to the max.
EDIT: I have attempted to OC to the point where my system is stable, I get 2 days battery life, and angry birds plays smoothly
Flash like anything else

I installed your rom by flashing as your instructions. Before flashing V8 I used ThSega V6 and now I still have to use V6 to find some ways for my issues.

your 3G wont work because you are using the old baseband... plz use BB 77
do a fulll wipe and format system before installing V8... if your keyboard doesnt work... re-flash it..
that should fix your issue

[Q] Why does some ROMs cause the phone to bootloop?

Hi guys,
I'm not very skilled in flashing ROMs, but I do it anyway every other day or so as am curious on what new ROMs can provide. I now longer panic when the phone get stuck at the bootscreen. Now when it occasionally happens I now have time to thinking about the reason for the bootloop - and that's why I start this thread
For some reason there are ROMs that I'm not able in install, like the official nightlies from CM 10 and Liquidsmooth RC9 - but I have no problems installing the "pure" Jellybean 4.2.1 (AOSP), TripNDroid CM 10.1 and Blade v4 (desensed) which I'm currently running.
Can anyone explain why some are able to boot on my HOX and some are not?
For your info, I'm on the Tegra 3 version using HBOOT 1.36 S-ON - Recovery is CWM 5.8.4.0
Thanks in advance.

I always do this - of course I can miss it sometimes. So I always trye reflashing if the phone get stuck in bootloop... But with the above mentiones ROMs I can't install them not matter what I do.
I think it may be caused by your hboot version: 1.36. You may need a special repacked boot.img to run some AOSP/AOKP/CM10 ROMs.
DO you Flash the correct boot.img ???
I always thought the hboot versions was backward compatible?
Regarding the boot.img -> then I alway extrat the boot from the ROM zip - and maybe that's the problem?

That is the problem. For example on official CM10 you need a special boot.img for higher hboots. See post #9308 in CM10 thread.

The fact of the matter is that most of the 4.2.1 based custom rom are compatible with HBOOT 1.28+ on the contrary to 4.1.2 based roms. For second ones U have to flash a special boot.img.

Talking about the boot.img file... Is there a sort of "all-round" boot.img that can be used for all ROMS?

No, such thing doesn't exist. Every ROM has it's own workaround for hboot incompatibilities.
And every ROM uses a different kernel so it would be impossible.

4.2.2 Rom Wifi connection

I've been tried to flash ICJ and Paranoid Anadroid Rom , both of them are 4.2.2 , and both have an problem on wifi connection.
My phone can turn on wifi and search , i can see hotspot with strong signal ( my home's wifi) , but when i type in password and start connect, the signal turns to week, and just keep on "connect" and "searching"... never got connect successful:crying:
I have done some searching on xda, some one say to do wipe after flash, some one say flash boot.img..
but I did it in both rom, still not works ... But my phone (international HOX) got perfect wifi connection on 4.1.1 rom (arhd/viperx/blade.. etc.)
How could it be solved ? I really want to explore more on using 4.2 rom

If you get connected and wifi signal is weak, like mine was, then just make a windsurfer.
I have a twin antenna router, so made 2 windsurfers & they work GREAT!!
