Got to honest I loved my s3, but for some reason, I cashed in on it, and bought an iPhone 5, now just after having the 5 for just over a week I'm starting to get bored!
So I'm thinking about trying the note 2??
Can anybody convince me?
Thanx

After using mine for a few weeks it's starting to feel like a normal sized device.

Nahh dont agree bro..... if ur handas are of average size then hardly for an houur u will feell awkward rest all u r having the beast in ur hand ....even i was confused with the size issue but after using it am really happy to be the proud owner of note 2..

You get used to the size. Afterwards any other phone feels like a featherweight.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

i don't get how anyone has a problem with the size... I can't believe this is not the standard size for a device most people use for browsing the internet and playing games, etc. Calling and texting is secondary...
Anyways how it usually works for me for tvs, phones, etc.. the screen feels big for like a week then its normal and then you just want bigger. The phone is not even that big.. it easily fits in a pocket or purse.
Either way any of these phones are better than the iphone 5. Apple is so boring now.. nothing new or innovative. And I am not an android fan boy... I have a New Ipad and used to have an iphone 4 and 3gs. .

ip5 > S3 > note2? the note ii is way better than both other phones. give it a shot. crapple isn't the way to go!

I bought the iPhone 5 a few days after it was launched (previously using a 4s) and when I saw the Note 2, immediately fell in love with it and bought one. I'm now using both the iPhone 5 and SGN2 (iPhone 5 with data, call and messaging plan. SGN2 with data plan only).
A happy camper here!

Just thought id let ya's know I went for the note 2! So far, so good

Better than the S3?

Hey everyone I'm due for an upgrade soon and I've been looking at the Note 2. I currently have the S3 and I love my phone but I'm interested in the Note 2. What (if any) makes the note better than the S3? I don't mind the size and yes I will put an otterbox defender case on it and I know it'll look huge but I don't mind that. Also does anyone really use the stylus? How is it? Thanks in advance

The battery is a beast just like the phone also the multi view tasking.
coming from a galaxy S2, this phone is incredible
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app using handwriting recognition
Battery life alone makes this phone superior to the S3. Plus, the S3 isn't running on the Exynos Quad chip at 1.6 ghz
I find the pen incredible useful, but you might not. If you can deal with the size like you said, GET THE NOTE. The bigger the better, right?
Oh, and multi-view is awesome!!!
I came from the gs3. They feel pretty much a like, except for the pen, extra screen space, and battery. But I finally feel like I have a phone I could actually make it through a 2 year contract with.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
The SG3 is a awesome phone and it runs much like the way ours does, only it does it with a smaller battery. You will notice the difference in battery life on day 1. The SG3 person can make any mods/changes they want to and the SGN2 will most likely out due them on a day 1 running completely stock with screen on auto.
Don't even get me started on the screen size.
I think the only thing you'll miss about the S3 is that the N2 lacks SVDO and is a little behind in development like no CM10 for Sprint yet).
The pen comes in handy to put a personal touch on photos.
Personally, I don't miss my S3 since I don't place many phone calls. I am happy with my N2 (could be happier with CM10 and Paranoid Android).
First thanks everyone for your inputs and second I'm due for my upgrade in January the first to be exact and I was told that sprint would allow you to buy out your contract to allow you for an early upgrade. Is this true?

Usually I get tired of my phone in less than a year and am wanting something else. While it remains to be seen with the Note 2, I can say, I feel as tho I have a phone that has the speed and features that can hold me over till my next upgrade. Plus I love the battery life on this thing.

So all of you that went from S3 to N2, have had no problem adjusting to the size difference? My wife has an S3, and we went to BB to compare it to the N2. The N2 is huge.....I didn't think it would be such a big difference from the S3, but it is.....Even my wife doesn't think she can get over the size difference. I would much rather have the N2, since I think it would keep me future proof for 2 years, but it is rather large...the S3 should be kind of future proof too, but I keep going back and forth.
I am sure the size discussion has been beaten to death on this forum, but I just want some fresh perspectives.

I went from S3 to N2. S3 feels so small now lol. The N2 did feel pretty big at first but after using it for a week or so, it doesnt feel all that big now and feels pretty normal. No regrets here, best phone there is IMO. I even take it to the gym and put it in pocket of my bball shorts (taking out for certain excercises of course). Just do it

I think many of us said the same thing, when seeing it on someone else. I know I did. I just wasn't sure the size would work for me(especially since I have smaller hands). But after having it only since Thursday, I can say I don't regret getting it one bit. I am used to the size and would have a hard time going back to something smaller.
As other have said, I think I found a phone that I could be happy with for my entire 2 year contract and not just the first 10-12 months.
man I wish I would've been able to have the transition from galaxy s 3 to note 2 like some of you lucky guys. or even the galaxy s 2 to note 2. I just moved from the galaxy s epic 4g after two+ years. yeah I came from a 4 inch screen to 5.5 inch. the adjustment was huge. but overall I am loving this phone. It was kind of a bummer finding out this phone had no svdo. I would've liked to try it out. but who cares? anywhere I go I have wifi; home, work, friends, restaurants, etc. get this phone, it is totally worth it. the only thing I like the spen for is using the stock browser. makes it a hell of a lot easier when opening sub menus like on ebay or scrolling down craigslist.
You really do get used to the size. Came from an iPhone 4 so I went from 3.5 to 5.5. After three weeks I don't feel the N2 is too large at all.

3.5"? I didn't realize apple was ripping people off that bad. wow, I just looked at the iphone 5. a 4" screen? seriously? high resolution only works to a point.
at least one of my coworkers was convinced once I let him play with my phone for ten minutes. went out and bought the phone same day.

Samsung Galaxy S III vs. Note II: Sizing up
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii_vs_galaxy_note_ii-review-830.php

Found one Nexus 10 (WalMart) tonight...just couldn't do it.

I love my Note 2. I have always been a fan of AOSP, however, and have owned the N1, NS, GNEX and N4 (sold it a few weeks ago). The battery life on the N4 was terrible. But there is something that always lures me back to stock Android...so much that I happened upon a Nexus 10 at WalMart this evening...just sitting there in the case.
I went back and forth on this idea. Sell my Note 2, get a Nexus 4 and buy the Nexus 10. I could sell my Note 2 for like $600, maybe more (have extra genuine battery, two flip covers, Allshare Hub and MHL cable). My thought is if I got the Nexus 10, I would be fine with the Nexus 4 for mobile use.
In short, I chickened out. The Note 2 just does everything so well. I am still tempted, but at the end of the day, this device is pretty darn hard to beat.
Anyone else foregoing tablet purchases because of this phone? I never thought the day would come that I'd pass on a Nexus 10 (have never seen one for sale). Today was that day. Feels good that I saved the cash but I do still wonder if a N4 + N10 is a better route...
I was going to do the same thing s you, but the damn battery life on the nex4 put me off. I'm a big fan of aosp too but nova launcher makes the touch wiz better. Lol

That is how much I love my note 2! Plus I need the money!

Same boat, (call it a titanic since so many more feel the same way) my Note 2 replaced my tab and my laptop for me and I love every second I spend using it. Everytime I think of a new tab or even a new phone, I say to my self but its doesnt have half as many features as Note 2 and it doesnt even look that sexy.
Point being, this device is a God send, Samsung was just God's lil helpers who brought it to us.

I did buy an N10 from wally world, it was good, except when playing graphically intense games, like Need For Speed:MW after about 10 minutes the cpu would heat up enough to slow game play to a slideshow. Returned and bought a note 10.1, couldn't be happier.

Wow, that's a major deal breaker. I play that game (one of like 3 I play) and that would be terrible...
For me it's a toss up for resolution. I live the resolution for the N10, but it's dual core, and a slow charger. Google, or any manufacturer needs to assign an enthusiast to the design team.

I actually did the opposite and sold all our tablets (iPad, Galaxy Note, gave the toshiba to my Dad) and my wife and I both use our Note 2 instead. Couldn't be happier, especially now that I got my PS3 controller working on the Note 2.
yes I was actually going to buy the 64gb TF700 asus transformer prime and somehow stumbled into the note 2 and ended up going with it instead
I gave my daughter a Nexus 7 for Christmas.
At that time I had an lg my touch (yuck).
I really thought the poor girl would barely get to touch it, because I would always be on it.
I got my note 2 a couple days before Christmas, and to this day I still don't know what color her Nexus 7 is.
This phone really is the shizzle.

[Q] Note 2 or S4

Hi All
At the moment I am using HTC Sensation but am due for upgrade (3UK) Dont like HTc at the moment had lots of problems so thought I would give Samsung a try.
I have never had a Samsung phone so am undecided about which to go for. I like the screen size on the Note 2 and from what I have heard the battery is great (HTC Crap) I use it for internet a lot and email ,when i have my Tablet I would use it to tether if this is possible with the note. Watch some video nd use word documents.
I can get either the Note 2 or S4 as free upgrade so any advice would be appreciated as to which is best. My main requirement is battery, the HTC I had to carry two batteries to last the day...
Thanks all.
Battery - undoubtedly go for Note II. No second thoughts there. Hands down has the best battery life of all phones except Droid Razr (which lacks quite a few features of N2).
If you like the screen size, and battery life is your priority, it's a no brainer IMO.

I've just had to make the sane decision as you. I'm also in 3 and I decided on the note 2 for screen and battery and after a week I made the right choice. After it being off charge since 7am this morning it's now 8 at night and I have 52% left.
I just made this decision, went with N2. It's already ready to go development wise and you don't have to worry about new phone hiccups or wait a long time for a proper portfolio of accessories. Plus the bigger screen, s pen, and most likely better battery make it worth it to me.
But if you're a stock ROM guy, really want 1080p res, or want the new CPU architecture, then S4's the way to go.
Buy a note 2...no contest here. Its got nice screen, big screen, big battery, s pen and just about all s4 software features are coming.

My words exactly!
3 UK have now discontinued the Note 2 on their website........
I've had this same question roaming around my mind for a bit now. Since T-Mo is ending contrancts if you want to end and go on your own. My wife and I are eleigible for an upgrade in June.... not free but if we get a new phone T-Mo is making changes where we would be paying about $20 a month to pay off whatever phone we choose, and that will actually still be cheaper then our plan now. I was thinking about waiting it out for the note 3 but I honestly don't have the patience for that. Went in a T-Mo store yesterday and dude told me it won't be until November most likely until the Note 3 get dropped. I can't wait that long..... I'm getting the Note 2 over S4 and probably sell it in September or October and use that money to get the Note 3.
Notes are big, almost too big but from what I have read peeps love them. Probably take some time to get used to them but I'll learn
Yeah, the size was initially scaring me too, but I got used to it real quick and now would definately miss the screen estate on a smaller device.
Actually the S4 felt like a small toy when I tried it in a shop (also due to low weight).
I admit that it's slightly (again, slightly - and I've not got the biggest of hands either) awkward to hold at times, but the positives by far outweigh the cons for me. I'm a big time reader (mostly comics ) and watch movies on my device. My hands get tired like hell while using tablets and my eyes hurt while using the tiny sized devices - Note II hits the sweet spot for me And I don't have to camp near a recharge socket either.
Bought a s4 for my wife yesterday and played with for 30 min.
Just 1 thing: note2 is better believe me BUT s4 has a good camera tbh xD

I do not love intermediate solutions, so I have the Note II to be complete everytime, but I need a small phone in my pocket, to be available, it is not possible with S4, S4 and Note II, so I have the Acer Liquid Gallant, not expensive and with acceptable performances for me...
Two is better than one, Note II, waiting for Note 3...
Note 2 no doubt.

Note II - Still a good idea today?

I'm currently with Sprint using an Evo 4G LTE. It's nice, but I'm getting the "is the grass greener on the other side" feeling. The Note II is still a powerhouse under today's standards. I use my phone a lot and I think going from a dual core/1gb device to a quad-core 2gb device would really ease my problems. However, I have some reserves being that the Note 3 is right around the corner. But seeing that Note 2's are hovering around $350 on the low end, I figure I'd only be out $150ish rather than when the Note 3 drops later this year, my contract isn't up until February and if Sprint doesn't let me upgrade early and have to pay a fee, I'd probably fork up over $400ish. Plus I'd have to sign a new contract and I'm having doubts LTE will show up in our area any time soon which means I might switch carriers down the road depending on my situation.
I don't mind flashing, but figure I'd ask the Note II community your thoughts since you guys (and gals) have the experience.

I waited to update my 2 OG epic 4g's for 2 note 2's. & while I'm glad I did, I would recommend for you however to wait on pulling the trigger on this just yet. Since the GN3 is right around the corner & I would guess it's going to be the first 8 core phone in the US, it'll have the flexOLED, big ass GPU, 3gigs of ram, this is the droid we've all been looking for...
:victory:
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Unless you're really having issues with the phone or something, I would just wait if you can. One thing that recently has shown us, there will always be something newer and better around the corner. Thus, I'm a big proponent of does the device fit my needs philosophy. The subsidy is build into all out phone service plans, so when you're contract is up, that's the best time to consider a new device.
As for the GN3, I haven't totally kept up on it, since my contract isn't up till 2014. But It's not going to have 8-core CPU like we think of with PCs. It's going to be two quad-core chips, which is will only use the second quad-cores when needed to give better battery life. I think the flex screen is still more rumor at this point.
If you wait, the GN3 will have been out for a months, so it'll will have been rooted by the point. You may have a better idea when LTE will come into your area.
Personally, I like the GN2. The screen size is a big plus for me. It's nice not to have to constantly zoom. I find all touch virtual keyboards suck. It has good performance for the apps that are out there. Some apps are quirks and some you have to side load for various reasons. I don't find the size an issue and only took a few days to get use to. Yes, it's not as portable as your previous phone, but it's not by much really.
Ultimately, given the costs you discussed, I don't know if I would make the switch at this point, especially if you're considering switching carriers. Sounds to me you need to research more on your available carriers to see what will fits your needs the best and costs. Considering now that there are next to no carrier exclusive phones, phones are becoming secondary.

Hey man, I'm 5'6"-5'7" (depending on the convenience store I'm walking out of) and my hands are the same size as yours. They're not small but not large either. Most things are fine with the GN2 but sometimes lefty has to make an appearance. Best phone I've ever had though.
I would hold out a few more months and get the Note 3
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
If your going for off contract and can snag a Note 2 for around 300$ - 350$ then I would go for the Note 2. Few months later when the 3s drop you can sale your note 2 for a couple bills and upgrade then if you want.
As far as size. It took me a day to get used to it and now other phones feel to small.

I came from the Evo LTE myself(still have 2 Evo LTE I need to put on ebay, 1 black that I pre-ordered and 1 white I bought at retail price when it was released). I had the Evo 3D(still have, also need to put on ebay) and the OG Evo too. I've bought nothing but HTC for about 6-7 years, even back to the WinMo days. Last Samsung I owned was the i760(crap, lol). I'm very happy with the Note 2, though I didn't have any issues with the Evo LTE, just wanted the Note 2. I can upgrade on January 1st 2014. The Note 3 should release around that time, if sooner and I can't wait then I guess I'll pay retail for it too. I love the Note 2, but you just have to decide for yourself and consider your finances. If you can afford a Note 2 an then upgrade to the Note 3 when it's released, then go for it, you'll love it!!!

I say stick it out with the Evo LTE. I'm currently stuck with my sisters Evo after my niece broke my screen on my Note. Although the Note 2 is a quad I feel the dualcore on this is a bit more responsive. You can even notice the difference when comparing the Note 2 to the GS3 which has the same chip. Touchwiz is a bit smoother on the S3. Wait for the Note 3, that'll be the one to upgrade to.
Edit: I'm actually impressed with this phone. Battery life is decent and it puts up a fight without it even being rooted. I do miss my massive screen though

Touchwiz is a bit smoother on the S3. Wait for the Note 3, that'll be the one to upgrade to.
Edit: I'm actually impressed with this phone. Battery life is decent and it puts up a fight without it even being rooted. I do miss my massive screen though

No doubt! As much as I love my Note 2, I gotta admit the my Evo LTE was quicker at somethings, though the Note 2 is quicker at others. Honestly, they're both awesome phones!!

Well it's nice to see you agree for a change. I've always gave unbiased opinions when it comes to phones and back in the 3D forums (I think) you and the rest would just call me a Samsuck fanboy and to burn ?
Glad you're not blinded by HTC fanboyism anymore. All brands have their pluses ?

Lol. I was definitely in the Evo 3D forums as I jumped from the OG Evo 4G and bought the 3D when it was released, but I've never called anyone a "Samsuck fanboy". Hahaha, funny name but not my line so I can't take credit for it.
Anyway, good to cross paths of other members on different devices later down the road! Which phone did you come to the Note 2 from? I pre-ordered the Evo LTE, so that was my phone between the Evo 3D and the Note 2. Take care man

Lol might not have been your line but you were def a part of it. I remember the sn I came from an S2 to the Note. But I've had all the Evo devices and most of the galaxy's. Evo 4G>GS1>Evo3D>GS2>Note 2>Evo LTE (temp). That's my android history

Would you still buy a Note 2?

Hi all,
I sold my Note 1 last week, since it was dying on me constantly and I needed a new one. Of course I couldn't simply downgrade to a smaller phone, and I've received a good offer for my Upgrade. I was going to get the Note 2 for £23 a month for the next two years.
Now I know the Note 3 has just come out, but at it's current price tag (£42 a month +) I just couldn't afford it.
Would it still be a good choice to upgrade to the Note 2 for the next two years? All I want is a solid productive phone with a great battery life, something my Note 1 didn't have.
Thanks in advance!

go for note2 if your budget does not permit a lot is expected with the official 4.3 update and then kitkat rolling soon next year
Let's see, I always brought my Note II with me at work.
And the working hours are 8:30am to 1pm and 2pm to 5:30pm
At the end of my work I still have 70 to 80 battery percent with Mobile Data turned on all day.
So yeah, I would still buy Note II if I had Note I and couldn't afford Note III.
But if you're someone who's itching to try out Note III, sometime along the way you'll be like "I wish I bought Note III"
Anyway, Note II is a good phone, actually almost perfect. You can survive the whole day with this guy.
Aside from battery, it's very responsive and fast.
Plus, it's never bad to upgrade hehe.
Assuming you're not a gadget/phone hungry guy, go for Note II bro.

I agree, the Note 2 is still an excellent phone. I strongly recommend to buy the LTE version (N7105).
On the other hand, if you don't like Samsung's monopolist tendency (like I don't), the LG G2 seems to be a great, affordable option. Could be my next phone (or the Nexus 5 once it's available).
Good luck

Buy a note 2 now. It's as cheap as it will get. Note 3 does not bring much to the table, you still can't see pixels in 720p and you can scale your UI however you like it using a launcher so 1080p on small devices is pretty much useless.
Battery life is ridiculously long comparing it to any other smartphone.
May not be as beautifuly crafted even as a HOX but at least they work.
It's a cheap phone that's very powerful and also does the job of a 7" tablet well. Also there's a neat stylus that does all sorts of cool stuff. Also new update soon including most of note 3's new software.
Get a note 2

Go for it, the prices have dropped to reasonable levels too.
You had a Note, so the size will be a non issue.
The only minor regret I have, is that looks and aesthetics matter to me more than I thought it did.
Slap the official protective cover, and I love it again
Thanks for all of your responses guys!
I've decided to take the plunge and have ordered the Note 2
Looks like I'll be rooting it as soon as I get my hands on it
Looks like I've received the 4G Note 2 (GT-N7105)..
Anyone know if there is any disadvantages to this? I don't mind the 4G, but I really do not want battery life to be affected, mainly because I'll be using Wi-Fi and don't have a 4g plan anyway.
Any ideas on whether I should give it back for an N7100?
Thanks!
No way should you give it back. I have the 7105 and don't have a 4g plan either but will maybe get one on my next contract.
Imo the 7105 will be worth more in trade in and your still going to use it non lte so the battery issue is not an issue.
As long as you don't want fm radio keep and enjoy what you got.
Let us know how you get on.

I wouldve recommended the Note 3 if not for that ugly looking bezel.

My two cents:
I have an Xperia Z and a Note 2, and recently bought an S4, after mulling a bit over the Note 3. I found that my Note 2 betters the S4, and beats the Xperia too. The Note 3 for me did not offer any thing new that I could find interesting. The Note 2 is still an awesome device, and I won't be letting it go for a while.
The main plus the N3 has over N2 (for me) is a better display. For my everyday use (office stuff, light gaming, music) the N2 is great, the battery rocks, and the 8mp camera is decent enough (and better than the Xperia's in many aspects - not kidding! ). I would recommend this phone any day!
