Yea, Frezza has it now and is uploading.
I will try this. Looks like I may have some bad files downloaded. Other stuff copies fine.

Hello guys,
as many of us, I cant recognise my HDD under windows to be able to sync Lotus with the phone directly.
I tried everything, but it seems nothing working....
using HTC sync (both the last version and the version I had on the phone SD card), it says that the driver installation has failed...
I tried also to edit the android-winusb.inf adding lines, but even this doesn't work...
I can see my phone as USB drive....but not in sync mode...
Any other suggestions????
Is it possible that there is no a single file that can solve it???
Thanks mates!
Marco
Solved!!!

I just backed up all apps and system data using the free version of Titanium Backup. It stored to the default location: /mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup
Now, when I connect with usb to my laptop and browse that folder it is empty, contains 0 files 0 bytes. I can browse both on my phone and through my laptop using adb shell and it shows the files are there in the folder, but folder shows empty through USB.
I would really like to have a backup of everything on my laptop, please help. I just finished searching for half an hour and found nothing.
I got the same problem on Mac (using the Android File Transfer)
i had the same problem using windows. i just disconnected the phone and tried again ~30 mins later and for some reason i could see the files. this has happened a couple times to me and each time if i'm just patient, the files will eventually show up. not sure why this is happening though...

Just tried re-connecting the phone and that worked, strange. I can see all the files now and pull them off, thanks a bunch!
The Issue
So, as you certainly noticed, ICS-toting devices such as the Galaxy Nexus do not come with the USB Mass Storage feature anymore.
On Windows, you can mount your storage using MTP (Media Storage Protocol)
On Linux and OS X, from what I've seen, there have been some attempts at building drivers for MTP but those seem to provide quite unreliable connectivity.
On Windows itself, it appears that the protocol takes quite a while to mount your device.
Google does not offer USB Mass Storage anymore in part due to the fact that you would need to unmount your whole storage from your phone to mount it on your computer.
The Solution
Alt Mounter! (I know, such an original name)
Alt Mounter is two things: 1) a small service and its widget, running on your device; 2) a helper running on your computer.
When you use Alt Mounter, mounting your storage on your computer is close to instantaneous. It works like a Dual Mount application; i.e. it does not unmount your storage from your device (it does not need to)
Platforms
Currently, the helper only exists for OS X and Windows (updated 05/06). It should not take long to port it to Linux if there is a demand.
The OS X version requires you to install OSXFUSE or any other FUSE package. It does not install these drivers itself because many MAC owners have already installed FUSE one way or another (for instance, OS X running in Parallels will not require any extra installation)
The Windows version will only work on a fairly recent version of Windows and will require you to install your device manufacturer's USB drivers. It is even more rough than the OS X version!
GET IT
Alt Mounter is currently a beta product. I use it without problem daily on my Galaxy Nexus and my CM9 Touchpad but of course your mileage may vary.
In fact, I am now aware of the following issues:
- The Android app may stop functioning after a while -- workaround: only run the app when you are using it (otherwise your icon should be gray with no shade of red)
- The Mac app seems to only work on Lion. Hopefully the latest version I uploaded fixes this pure SDK limitation.
- The helpers may be very capricious as they are so, so young.
Thank you for your patience and, more importantly, your feedback.
Get it from the Beta Page.
having a issue downloading the apok for android.
"Sorry, this page doesn't exist" I was happy but it cannot be downloaded. :-(
All my apologies! This should now be fixed.

I know I uninstalled android file transfer mostly because it is not a very nice application.
Try this incredibly simple thing: unplug your phone, plug it back in, see if it works now. I observed that the Helper may fail to notice a device when it is first asked to mount it.
ok ill give it a try
---------- Post added at 10:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:05 PM ----------
still not working
i tried it and it doesn't want to mount it
Works fine for now, I'm going to test it a bit more but so far so good, thanks for this great mod, that's what I was looking for.
-Update-
Well it was too beautiful to be true, I cannot do anything on my "Mounted device", if I try to copy something it says that i do not have the right permissions, if i try to create a new folder it says "Cannot complete operation (-43)". I tried everything, stop service restart computer, restart phone and nothing, I will keep an eye on this, because I'm very interested on this.

OK. Let's see...
1) Does the widget turn partially red after a few seconds?
2) System Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging: is it checked?
Cheers,

Hi there!
I totally plan on writing about this for the XDA Portal...and I would also love it if you ported it for Windows because I'm not a fan of MTP
Another vote for the Windows port.
Please let me know if you need a tester as I'm running Windows 8CP and could help to make sure it works going forward from win7.
Thank you can't wait for windows version
Need this for Linux.

Would LOVE a windows port. Hopefully ones thats portable and doesnt need to be installed.
+1 for Windows (7) & portable version
i'm probably one of very few, but i actually prefer mtp over usb mass storage. since my ns4g rom doesn't offer mtp, would this act as mtp for me by leaving my storage partition mounted while connected??
if so, i will vote for a windows build please!
+1 Windows & Portable
Anyone have any tips or tricks to getting MTP to function on a Windows XP (32-bit) machine? I keep getting an error message saying that it didn't install successfully, and I can't access anything on my sdcard (internal or external).
The error message is as follows:
Cannot Install this Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
LGE Android Net MTP Device
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
Click Finis to close the wizard.
I've been searching high and low and have found and executed what seemed to be pretty good leads on getting it working, but all to no avail.
Things I've tried:
- Installed the LGUnitedMobileDriver_S50MAN311AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.11.3.exe package.
- Ensured that Windows Media Player 10 or greater is installed.
- Ensured that USB Debugging is NOT checked in phone.
- Installed the Microsoft MTP Porting Kit.
- Opened and edited the wpdmtp.inf file located within the C:\WINDOWS\inf\ folder to include and point specifically to the Device and Vendor ID for the LG G3 D851 (for those wondering what that looks like, here it is: %GenericMTP.DeviceDesc%=MTP, USB\VID_1004&PID_633E&MI_00 )
- Opened Device Manager and manually updated the driver by pointing it to the LG Electronics folder created when installing the driver package above.
- Rebooted computer multiple times.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled device and drivers multiple times.
- Tried editing/deleting a registry key (don't worry, I backed it up and restored it when it didn't work)
I swear there were other things I tried, but if there were, I'm not remembering them right now.
Anybody have any suggestions? Anyone had success with Windows XP and MTP mode on this device?
Thanks for your time.
Come on, smart people! Surely someone has something to add, even if it's simply that they too couldn't get it to work. At least that would make me feel less incompetent... LOL
format your comp see how that works

Happen to have a link to the drivers you installed to make it work?

Those are the ones. I would uninstall thru windows. Also uninstall any other phone drivers you have restart computer. Redownload fresh drivers then install them. Connect phone and let is load as normal. First time will take a bit. When you get pop up saying that have installed correctly then disconnect phone and do it again. Should work perfect. I installed lg PC suits to make sure it saw my phone

No dice. Uninstalled LG United Mobile Driver package through "Control Panel" "Add/Remove Programs", reset computer, installed freshly downloaded copy of the LG United Mobile Drivers, reset computer, then plugged the phone in.
Same error message.
I haven't had any other phones connected to this computer since the reformat, so there were no other phone drivers to uninstall.

Just not meant to be, I guess. Not happening any which way I go.
Just a quick questions. What version of windows are you running. Also you did run windows update and installed all of windows updates. That process alone took me a bunch of hours to complete

It's Windows XP Professional 32-bit, and yes, I ran all the windows updates.
I guess at least I can use ADB to push/pull files to/from the phone. It's just nowhere near as convenient.

Same thing for me, but...
I traveled the EXACT path with my S3. I also had XP Pro 32 bit on my comp. I tried all the same would-be solutions listed in this thread with 0% working to fix the error. I however, could not use ADB. My phone literally did not show up anywhere when plugged into my laptop. I downloaded the Samsung toolkit offered her on XDA and it was useless as well. Over the past 1.5 years I would periodically start a new internet search hoping to find some new advice but never made any progress. I had the paid version of Solid Explorer installed on my phone as my file explorer and realized it had a FTP file transfer option and used that instead of USB made. This solution ended up being an easier way to access my device and SD card files so I gave up.
Fast forward to today and same problem exists with my S4 except the first time I plugged into my comp I saw a pop up window on my device that said something like...must have Service Pack 3 installed...WMP v.10 or higher...yada yada. Now I do have WMP 10 but I show Service Pack 1 and 2 only when I look at installed programs. I used to have Service Pack 3 and don't know how that changed. I'm gunna look into finding a download for SP 3 but not holding my breath anything will come of it.
I'll check back if my situation improves, but in the mean time I guess an install of Solid Explorer is due for my new phone.
Ive tried nearly every version of wpinternals but it will not boot into mass storage mode, fails to find a flashing profile :crying:
I selected the 'download all' option to download my ffu etc. Fails with this error in the screenshot:

The 950 isn't being connected in mass storage mode!!! I wanna unlock bootloader, surely there's a solution!! It does step 1 of unlock, tries to boot to mass storage and just keeps rebooting finalizing in the 'failed to write to pipe' error. It's not 'connecting'. Is this a known prob with the 950???
Try with a clean version of WPinternals by deleting the configuration file in "ProgramData\WPInternals" and using version 2.8.
