Then you have your answer, assuming you haven't updated the bootloader from 1.12, you just need to fastboot oem lock and run the 2.17.401.2 RUU.

What is your CID?? and version??
If there is a JB ruu for you, you can go to stock JB . You cant use a ruu that is based on the 2.17 or lower. You have an updated Hboot so going back to stock ICS with a ruu is impossible......
You can run a ics stock rom and flash the stock recovery after and relock the bootloader, then it seems you are on stock but only with a updated Hboot. That's the closest to stock ICS you can get !

my one x is cid_001 and running Android Revolution HD 17.1
ive found a jellybean ruu
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.27_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_298897_signed.exe
just hoping this works
Edit, was reading wrong : we don't need the rom you are running. We need the main version number to determin the right ruu.
Do fastboot command
Fastboot getvar version-main
That's definitely the real version
Yes, you can
Just find the attached link. Press Thanks if u like.

Yep this ruu is compatible with your CID. But i would warn you that it is a 'leaked' experimental ruu and not an official htc release... So theres no gurantee.

Revert back to stock or not?

I got my One X few days ago, I unlocked the device and flashed custom ROM right away, then I noticed that the screen is little broken. It's moving and it makes creaking noise when you press it, so I want to take it back and have it fixed or changed. So should I revert back to stock and relock the device or not? I'm little worried about warranty though, they shouldn't really care what I did with the software.
Revert to stock, it will increase the possibility to get it repaired for free.

Technically, 3.14.401.27 is for hboot 1.36, but the link above is to the latest (1.39)
You need to relock:
fastboot oem lock
And then run the RUU as administrator (right click).
It will wipe your phone.

Yes, and if you want, you can restore a stock nandroid backup. Your choice, the result will be the same.
Seems to me that going with Nandroid Backup would be safer? If I made a backup after unlocking the bootloader and installing recovery, would restoring that work and then just relock the bootloader?
Yes, you have to flash back the stock recovery after restoring the nandroid ! Not the the recovery from the nandroid because that is the custom recovery
This is the stock recovery for the 3.14 software
http://db.tt/C1SWP2ZJ
After that when everything works you have to lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Then you are as stock as you can be

Not particularly, it amounts to the same thing, but with the RUU there is less chance of typing something wrong or getting the wrong file.
I tried to update with the RUU provided, it started the process and suddenly stopped and said it can't update my device and there was signature error or something on the top of the window. So it rebooted my device into bootloader and I can't boot into the ROM. Recovery and all that is gone as well. What should I do now?
What happens when you try to get to recovery?
What hboot are you on?
What does this command give from fastboot mode:
fastboot getvar version-main

I've only ever seen that message on Evita with Endeavoru software.

So have I bricked the phone or should I follow one of those disaster recovery tutorials? (a bit worried here)
Try again, if that doesn't work, download the other (.31 or .27) and try that, it's not bricked, don't worry.

VOADAP 012 CID HBOOT upgrade on OSX?

yeah thats all good, I just havent found any instructions (yes im a semi noob at this) that don't involve using .exe files when installing RUU's
I upgraded a VODAP021 One X a week ago from HBOOT 1.12. I didn't need to run a RUU in order to upgrade, because Vodafone has already released an OTA for Jellybean that takes your HBOOT to 1.36. I'd imagine it would be the same case for you. All you need to do is make sure you're running stock Vodafone ROM and stock recovery.

[Q] Return stock from 3.20.401.1 based custom recovery

Hi,
I'm trying to return an HOX (CID: HTC__102) stock from ARHD 21.
I've tried the last RUU (3.14.401.31) but the RUU returns an error (something like "wrong version").
What can I do to return stock?
Is the mike1986's Stock ROM the only way to return stock?
Waiting for your answer
Thanks!

Have you read my question, or you have reply without do it?
A) I've an European HOX (not Asian).
B) I mounted the ARHD 21 that is based on 3.20.401.1 and I can't use a RUU just because I there isn't a RUU compatible with my software version.
