S Beam not working.. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, need help with the S-beam.
I am trying out my Note2 S-beam with my friend's S3 but it doesnt seem to work.
1) Note 2 - stock Rom, NFC & S Beam turned ON
2) S3 - stock Rom, NFC on, Android Beam on, S-Beam on, Wifi Direct on
Tried to send a picture / video from Note 2 to S3, when both phones touched on back (without casing), nothing happen (suppose to show 'tap to beam'). Tried to send picture from S3 to Note 2 via S Beam also cannot.
Anyone have the same problem?
Thks

re
i was watching a vid on you tube yesterday about the covers for the note 2 and the guy doing the vid showed the inside back cover and said that the silver strip in it had something to do with the nfc, dont know if he was in the know about this or not , but i guess you have tried it with the covers on, it works with my wifes s3 and my note 2. although a bit hit and miss.
cheers pj

My girlfriend owns a Galaxy Note 2, while I have a Galaxy S3. When she frist bought the device the S Beam worked just fine. Once the software was updated the first time on Note 2 (there was an update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2) the S Beam did not work with the original battery cover not with with the flip cover (although original Samsung flip covers say ''with NFC). There was an update a week ago for the 4.1.2. JB, but it still doesn't work with the flip cover. We didn't try it out with the original battery cover yet, but I think there must have been a update issue before.

do you have any nfc tags or a credit card with a sideways wifi symbol on it, or a machine readable passport? you could test nfc on its own first with nfc task launcher app

[Q] PLZ i need a advice! (unresponsiveness screen)

well i buy a SG nexus (GT-i9250) and i flash google stock imagen yakju (came from yakjuxw) the phone works wonderfull for 4 days.. :S and the touch stop to responde att all (after pull out the battery or reflashing stock) so i need the advice, the store can replace it for other SG nexus o i can pick Xperia S
soo people have the SG nexus for several months. its unresponsive screen its rellay problem? or its just me with bad luck (lol) i came form SG i9000 and never have a hardware firule like this but at this moment i start doubting his quality
so which is better? GT-i9000? o Xperia S?
If it is new and under warranty, then keep it on stock and get it checked (and fixed if needed) under warranty
i9000 is old now and with a single processor so it is not fair to compare it with GNex. Xperia S has a good hardware but personally I used it with one of my relatives and the capacitive buttons are not so responsive many times. GNex has a unique feature which is receiving new updates almost instantly once Google releases any new Android version, so I really think GNex is the best one of these
Oh yeah, and I never had any major screen or touch issue at all with my GNex

[Q] (Q) Flashable phone function?

Hi XDA,
is there a way to flash a phone function to the new nexus 7 (LTE)?
actually i have a samsung galaxy tab 7.7 p6800 and its good to have a phone function, cause i need it regularly.
i wonder why google dont implent this function cause an SMS function is always included in the N7 series, and a note 8.0 LTE is another alternative choice but a little to expensive i think.
is there anyone out there who knows an answer to my question.
Not yet. Search forum for more info if needed.

[Q] Galaxy Note 2 Custom rom with Wacom

Hello all,
I've recently ordered a Galaxy Note II from Three (the description was vague so idk if LTE version or not) and I was wondering what a good custom rom would be so that I could still use the Wacom technology in it and have a functioning S-Pen, I was also wondering if there was any mods or apps that would allow me to use my Note as a graphics tablet for my PC which would be pretty cool.
But in your opinion, what is the best custom rom for the N7000 and N7150
thanks
Also I'd like to know an app so I can use my phone as a graphics tablet.
I seen some but is there a way to configure any of them so if I put my SPen at the top right of the phone it'll go to the top right of the screen on my laptop, if you know what I'm trying to say, so the position of the mouse on the screen is relative to the position of the pen on the phone, like most graphics tablets work.

Peculiar cover-battery for my S3

Hi, i'm searching a specific cover-battery that i saw some months ago maybe on some US site. The cost of cover was in dollars value.
This cover is very resistant and have a slot to insert the same battery of S3 (a second battery obviously).
I remember that i could see a video about assembling the cover too.
Unfortunately now i don't find the site anymore. I have seen everywhere!
Do you know where can i find?

ROM/firmware update depends on your region. And if your phone is network provider dependent, it up to your network provider to release an OTA update.
Air gesture and smart scroll are something of the flagship feature, eg. S3/S4 but not the minis.

A sensor is just a sensor. All the feature you mention is software implementation, IMHO a useless one on top of it. Samsung has different software implementation for feature to differentiate various segment of phones. All this camera based feature are only available on the 1st tier phones, such as Note or S's. All this Samsung feature are mention on Samsung's own website... Alternatively there's GSM Arena. Check it before you buy the phones on the features you want.

Hey man, cool, I didn't say anything beside the fact. They are all camera based feature, and beside the obvious battery drain, it also becomes useless in dark room as the camera won't see anything (since I use phone quit often before bed time). I got the S3 as well, it was cool like the first hour, but seriously, how often you see people around you waving their hand at their phone like some crazy person? It Samsung's marketing gimmick more than anything. Just like the name S4 'mini', instead of a flagship in smaller form, it a serious cut down. The only thing mini's resemblance to their big brother's are the exterior design. No more, no less.
