Lately Ive found that It takes an incredibly long time to charge however, it seems less time for it to go dead. What am I doing wrong?

hows your usage? post your battery stats and screen on time from tbe phones main settings, battery.
Now this is just standby time...this is including minimal usage

Screen on time sir.
And screw the 4G. The max screen on time i see for people using 4G is 2h+, a GSM gnex can normally achieve 3h-4h+.

Yeah..screen ontime would help. I usually last like 14 hours with 5 hours screen on time. I don't hold back since I have a spare on the external charger lol.
Its ok if you're a hard core user like having your face stuck on the screen all day long

You should give undervolting a shot if your kernel supports it. That helps with reducing power consumption while in use, while juice defender helps with reducing power consumption while not in use.

You need something like JD. The 4g looks like it's killing you.

Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
yeah that's rather bad. i would put on average that our phone would last 4+ hours display on screen without the use of JD and other stuff.
I would say voice uses more battery than display on.. but barely... like 1.3 : 1 ratio in use voice : display.
Your android system looks a bit high too. Maybe a fresh wipe and install would help things.

You're holding it wrong.
Yeah I can drain the battery with the best of them, but to achieve the above, I have to seriously tax the device and I would EXPECT the battery life to suck under those conditions.
Way to attribute a fault in one device to all of them.
This phone has great battery life. YOUR phone however, probably facked. However, if you're interesting in fixing this dilemma rather than *****ing and blaming the phone, maybe you can get some interest from this forum.
FWIW, I just bought a new Galaxy Nexus (HSPA+) to replace my Nexus One and the battery life is better. I go a full day and still have 50-65% left. I was worried because my friend had the LTE version from Verizon and his battery life was horrible (his would die in the afternoon / evening). I wonder if the LTE version has poorer battery performance?

Recently it has gotten worse and 'media' and 'sdcard' processes are also taking a lot of my battrry n it hardly lasts for more than 4-5hrs even if not in use. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Kernel or rogue app.
I have tried so many kernels and roms including cm10, aokp and slimbean but in all of them the same 'media' process is taking 40 to 50% of my battery even in standby. Is it some app that might be responsible for this drain?

Most likely an app.

My Epic 4G Touch suddenly said my battery went from 94% last night to 0% within 10 minutes.

Thank you for any and all advice!

Attached is screenshots of battery usage and badass battery monitor.

I'm still talking about battery life after update so I'm guessing your just a idiot and have the reading comprehension of a 5th grader like most people.
Also I have noticed testing with my phone by forcing it on 3G only the battery life is much better so I'm pretty sure its the switching back and forth of the networks. That was for people who actually have a brain.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Same here for me. I wiped everything, reflashed the stock 4.1.2 image and still have the battery drain, even with no accounts set up, location services deactivated, flight mode on and no extra apps installed. Drain is pretty consistently 5% / hour and my battery stats show no active states when the screen is off. I thought about it being related to a defective SIM card, but the same drain is observed with 2 different cards or even no sim card inserted. I have no clue what else to do...
I got my Gnex after JB was released. How was the battery life on ICS? How long could you have the screen on?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
When I didn't use my phone a lot, I went home with 70-80% battery after a workday (sync fully enabled, working WiFi all through the day). Screen time was ~3h.
So, is it worth going back to ICS? JB is superb, but i hate not being able to keep the screen on for a long time. I read a lot on my phone.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Depends on what screen time you're getting now. My major concern is standby drain which is so high I couldn't get a decent amount of screen time if I wanted to. Oh, and and I use the European GSM Nexus, btw.
