[Q] mobile odin - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

According to the mobile Odin app page the galaxy nexus is supported. I installed it,root access was granted, than tell me my device is supported. Check root access (my nexus is rooted).Than I'm prompted to to a dump. I did its logged than I get a blank mobile Odin screen. Can someone lend me some advice. Thanks in advance.

Somebody has to have a idea.

I think obtaining a logcat and sending it to chainfire will give you a better chance of fixing your problem.

Thank you....My issue is that my laptop took a crap on me.So I can't obtain it.Im going to pm chain fire and see what he has to say.I just wish someone can 100% confirm it works on there sprint gnex.

Terminal emulator, then type "logcat" It works but not too tidy. Not idea how to stop it too btw.

I have a Sprint GNEX, and I am researching Mobile ODIN prior to installing it. The Sprint GNEX is the toroplus, and does not currently appear on the compatible device list.
The toro (Verizon GNEX) is there, and the Google GNEX models are there too, but for some reason the Sprint model is not.

Edit:
Habitformer, please accept my most abject apologies if my post struck you as offensive or derogatory in any way and to any degree. Such was not my intent, I assure you, but after rereading it for the Nth time, I can see how it could be.
So, at the risk of making it even worse:
I understand that you have flashed just about every ROM ever mentioned on XDA, and that compared to me you are a towering expert. It is more than possible that, in the context of Mobile ODIN compatibility, the differences between variants of GNEX are irrelevant, which would make my post an embarrassingly explicit demonstration of smooth-brain syndrome.
Even the most knowledgeable person can proceed from a false assumption, and when I read this post:

I thought that you may have done so, since I had obsessively scrutinized the compatible device list both on Play and here on XDA for "toroplus". The fact that the program told you the device was supported and then crashed solidified my belief that some subtle difference between GNEX variants may have caused the problem. When I read your next post, I made the unwise decision to open my big fat mouf. Sorry.
I see that my thundering n00bness has shocked another member speechless after first introducing them to the divine - Don't worry, I'm going back to lurking now. I'll make every effort to avoid throwing rocks into the pond in the future.

Omg..

You actually don't need mobile Odin.. Once rooted with busy box,go to play store and download clockwork mod recovery. There now your good.Make back up and flash away.

City ID... Can we remove it?

I just woke up to a white screen telling me it wants to charge me 2 dollars a month to tell me where a call is from...
I tried to go to applications and uninstall it but I didnt see any uninstall option...

I saw that too and wasn't happy. I hate to have to root my phone and image it just to get rid of that application. It hasn't asked again since the first time. Hopefully it wont ask again!

Its not verizon i had it on my alltel touch pro and i think it just puts the city name when someone you don't know calls you. It never stopped doing that for me after the trial was up and it never popped up saying i need to pay. So it might just be an extra icon you have ti live with.
It is defiantly always running in the background!

Just because it isn't exclusive to Verizon, doesn't mean its not crappy bloatware.
+1 on getting rid of this when root is achieved.
I'm new to Android to so I apologize if this is totally out there. CityID is part of the ROM so it is protected. But I imagine that Cequint must be able to push out an update for CityID or their libraries from time to time.
What if we made our own version of CityID with the same manifest that did nothing and installed it using "Unknown sources"? Would Android see our newer version and use that instead?
Is this possible or do we need to wait for root access?
If you ForceClose it the trial returns to 15 days LOL.
There are some reverse lookup apps that show the name of the caller. Skydeck is well reviewed and I'm testing it.
When my trial period ended it asked if I wanted to keep my subscription and I hit no. It then allowed me to uninstall. Has anyone else had this happen for them?

Ok my free trial ran out last night, but this lame excuse of a program still runs for no reason, but to spy on my phone.
I was not able to remove the program.
This is a good reason to root this phone.
Ok so im new here and im new to the smartphone user crowd but I am pretty good with computers and think I may have found a way to remove City ID (and any other apps preloaded or not) from the Incredible. I was playing around last night and found an "Uninstall" button for City ID but I being a new user to Smartphones and honestly not yet willing to destroy my baby hehe was afraid to press it. Anyways for those (if any) of you out there are willing to try it and see what happens (im not held liable for anything if it goes wrong this is strictly your decision)..here is how you find the button:
1) Enter Astro File Manager (by default it takes you to your SD Card)
2)Hit the "UP" button, it will take you to your phone storage directory.
3)Choose the "System" folder.
4)Choose the "app" folder.
5)Scroll to "City ID". Click on it.
6)Choose "Open App Manager".
7)Voila..there is your button.
Please post if this works..alongside with any side effects etc..it would be greatly appreciated. Hope this helps someone.
Also posted this on XDA-Developers. Look there for replies too if it works. i sure hope so anyways. Search "City ID... how do you uninstall?".

No, it doesn't work. We have root now, so you can uninstall it. Someone posted directions somewhere. You just use the rm command from the terminal.
With this removed, do you still get city/state information (I imagine you would as Verizon advertises "Caller ID" as one of it's services). Was this just some moot/redundant app left in to try and make some money off of suckers?

Caller ID is name and phone number.
The translation from phone number to City/State is what CityID does. When removed, there is no display of City/State, but you still get Name and Phone number. As the translation of phone number to City/State for mobile phones is patented by the makers of CityID, Verizon can't provide that service without using the CityID application.

That thread had to be removed per the forum rules, specifically those regarding rule 9, as that thread was telling people how to overwrite the IMEI on a device.
Regards
Pulser
I see, it is a shame because that info did help a lot of people.

I understand, as the info was useful, but the legalities of the IMEI tampering are clear, and it's not something we can host, per rule 9.
I am all for rules and enforcing them, but if it wasnt for that info a lot of us t-mobile customers would not be able to use the tab they way it was intended,as a phone. But nothing can be done now but i am glad i found it before it was too late.
But one thing though, there are other threads about changing IMEI and stuff but they are still out there, so i believe it should be the same for everyone.
Not trying to be a snitch or anything lol

Well... If you fancy the job of looking through 500,000 threads, be my guest and report them We can only act on what we find or get reported to us, as there's too much otherwise.
We know where you're coming from, but the legal situation is clear.
lol thanks for offer but im good. so if tmo would have gotten a look they could have involved lawyers?

I don't know specifics of this case, but the changing of the IMEI in general is illegal under communications laws. That's the issue here.

I am getting this too, it started a couple of weeks ago, at first I thought it was a pop up from the site I had been visiting, but now it's happening with other sites. I am on a stock rom bell Canada Galaxy S II. Anyone have any ideas?
I have done some further testing and have discovered that the site hijack only comes up for me when I go to http://xda-developers.com .
It doesn't matter if I'm on wifi or cell data. I did a full factory reset, as well as re-flashing 4.0.4 again, and right after first boot, it still redirects me. I've even tried it without letting Android restore my phone.
Is it a problem with my phone, or with the xda site?

I'm starting to think that it's Google Adsense serving these ads to people. All of these sites almost all use Google Adsense in some form to back fill ads.
This is happening to both Android and iPhones - only through mobile browsers. My guess is that this shady ass advertiser is targeting mobile browsers through Adsense.
From what I can tell, the ads are somehow attached to a site called blueAds.com, at least that's where they redirect from.

Not to say that I'm glad to hear, but at least there's some corroboration. I tried to do some research, and the whois record isn't helpful, and all that comes up for any search on mobgifts is a site called downocean(or something like that).
My Scam alarms just started going off.
I concur on that point, a lot of the searches on this topic. Bring the downocean name up again and again. Especially when you type how do I get rid of. Its definitely got some javascript going on, when I turn JS off I don't seem to get the the pop ups.

[Q] I'm not in US and want to make in app purchase

I got my Note 2 about a month ago and could not be happier with it. I am an iPhone convert.
The phone is not rooted.
The model of the phone is a Note 2 internationally unlocked from factory phone.
When I got it, it had installed 4.1.1. Then it updated to 4.1.2 – where it remains today.
I have a US credit card and address. There's been no problem purchasing apps from the play store for quite sometime.
Then I found an app that I wanted to purchase the pro version as an in app purchase. Google canceled the order and refunded the credit that I had purchased.
Further, Google blocked any additional purchases even from the browser of my computer (using a proxy).Right now, I'm waiting 24 more hours as when I put in a service ticket, they said wait 48 hours and try to purchase again and if there was a problem they would try to help me.
The problem seems to be with the in app purchase more than anything.
To be able to make this and other in app purchases easier, I would be willing to root my phone if there is a safe way of doing it.
Has anyone figured out how to do an in app purchase with a Note 2? Will rooting the phone give me this ability?
Sure would appreciate any help along these lines.
PS I even wrote to the developer asking if I can send the money directly for the pro version via Paypal or if they could let me buy it in some other way. They wrote back a rather short letter that that was the only way I could do it. I tried one more time to write to them, and they just ignored me. I'd like to give them money and I'd like to have the pro version of their program.
You may want to try market access app, (google market access apk) and spoof a US carrier. You will need root for that.

I looked on the Play Store and do not find market access (apk) or anything similar.
Can you tell me where I might find that?
Is Market Access how you spoof a US carrier or is that something else too I need to do?
Also, I am on a Mac, not a PC. I don't find instructions on rooting using a mac. Everything refers to a pc. Any ideas on that?

You won't need MAC to do it. Just download it using your phone and install the app.
If I'm understanding correctly, the API's need root access to work.

Possible? broke lcd, unlock PIN from PC

Hey guys! My Galaxy s3 i747 from At&t has the lcd broken, I want to extract my information but since I do not have an LCD, I cannot input my pin so that the computer recognizes the device. Is there ANYTHING i can do? bypass the lockscreen from the PC to access the folders on android and recover my docs, or input the PIN from some sort of command, or screencast to succesfuly bypass this only barrier to get my pictures that are the most important part.

I will try that which helps, but the problem is that I had keepsafe app which hides pictures and documents which are really hidden folders. Which a normal backup I think would not back up, there are documents therewhich are of extreme value. That is why I am looking for a way to access the phone.
I tried screencasting but since it is not in debug mode, i guess it doesnt appear in my computer for the cast to access it.thanks
I saw a post someone saying that people don't use the search enough but a way to back up data.. The way it works from reading it was if you are rooted. I have a question. does any part of your screen work or is it just a big blob of color**. also I stopped rooting and modding my phone after getting a good one due to bugs in custom roms. Having stock allows me to call Samsung and ***** and rage and have support. Don't get me wrong the modding community is great and I respect that. But my phone is pretty much my work it has to work how it was sold to me.
I hope there is a way to allow you to fix it yourself with out sending it to Samsung. Or having to pay top dollar for your data.
also search on the internet has become to the point of hopeless, most the time you have to word it right or know the tech term to get the answer easy. I feel your pain and respect the fact you had the guts to ask for help.
