As today Facebook app got a new update but I still feel that it's not quite good enough because of very slow speed, old UX& ... (as the app always was)
I'd like to know which app you use for Facebook recently.
I've tried Scope beta for few weeks, love the idea but still buggy and slow.
Thanks for sharing guys!

Same.. I haven't had an issue with it for ages.. It does what it's supposed to do.
I just go to facebook.com, looks just like PC version that way.
Facebook app is fine its smooth and fast no lag for me whatsoever
It takes 10-20 seconds of a black screen before it loads, but after that it works fine.
The problem i have is with its widget, i sometimes get a blank widget or it doesnt update.
Anyone with those issues??
I use flipboard for facebook, I really like the magazine format.
What's up with the Facebook website and Android? The input fields don't allow your dictionary to work and gets all screwy trying to type and backspace. It does this on any browser I've tried.
I just use Android Pro Widgets to use the Facebook and Twitter widgets for feeds, and click through to Facebook occasionally for notifications and IMs. I don't need instant notification about anything related to Facebook.

No issues here with the Facebook app. Loads in less than 2 seconds. Now on my phones it is a different story. They haven't ran it right in a year or so.
No problems here, more speed is needed with all apps to support Nexus 7 Quadcore CPU

There is a reason Facebook is working on a native app for Android and already did for iOS. Our current app is an HTML5 based slow piece of trash..,

I deleted facebook app ,using default cm10 browser is much faster..on a 20mbt internet i wait for 4-5 seconds and more for a 50kb picture to show, that app after 1000 updates is still bad joke.I left app only on my phone because of push notificafions but i dont use it.

Friend caster is pretty nice. Dual panel layout and everything. One problem with the official Facebook app is that it took so long for it to start up like 20 seconds for a black screen then another ten on the splash screen. Completely ridiculous. I heard they forced their employees to use android phones instead of I phones just to make them feel the crap they made for android.

Hi all,
Is it only me who feels bad about official twitter app - I mean bad performance & lag on GN 4.0.2?

Go to settings and turn on GPU acceleration. It makes pretty much everything faster and without lag.
Use Seesmic - by far the best twitter client imo.

This, sort of. It will make twitter run smooth but some apps won't work altogether with it enabled. (Just some examples Capital One Mobile app, and Asphalt 6).

have you tried TweakDeck yet? its what was originally TweetDeck until Twitter bought them and stripped the best features from it.

with gpu accerleration selected im sorry i can't agree with this thread. twitter works perfect with no lag at all when this is selected, i honestly don't know how much faster you can expect this to be. and this is someone who owns every pro version of every twitter app

Yeah have tried them all, but keep going back to seesmic. Even though it FC's sometimes on ICS..
Just played with Twitter on my Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S Vibrant (with Passion ICS) and it seems like it's noticeably quicker at scrolling and opening tweets on my Vibrant.
Weird. It still works well enough on the Galaxy Nexus, so I'm not bothered by it. Kinda surprised though that it is a bit slower, I guess the larger screen, dunno.
Thank you all...
I tried them all. I prefer hootsuite. But recently I wanted to try the official twitter app (never tried the new design version before). I like the rich features it has and the design. But the last few days was bad experience with this app. It lags. The drag to refresh keeps running so when i get back to app, I often don't find my time line at the same position I left it.
Thanks for the new thing I learnt now: 2d GPU rendering. Yes I noticed smoothness but some other apps were distorted, e.g., mynetdiary and hootsuite itself.

Replying to tweets is noticeably slower on my phone than my girlfriend's myTouch 4G. I think it's just an optimization thing as I believe AP or AC did an article on the slowness of the app on ICS. It is what it is...

Yes i get bad lag on the official twitter app too. Gpu hardware enabled does not help at all either. But its always been like this for me and the twitter app had identical lag on my atrix too. So i always thought this app had issues, not my phones.
I'm not really fussed about the speed of Twitter, I just wish it would sync my Twitter friends and contacts..... Constantly get a "Sync Error".

Best to switch to a different Twitter app. using 2D rendering might benefit the official Twitter app but might work against other apps.

Official Twitter, despite having no tablet UI.
I'm very particular about twitter clients, I would be using Twica if it would show replies to somebody's tweet - which it doesn't. And a bunch of other clients don't show trending topics or look downright ugly.
Thanks for the replies, I am trying out TweetLanes!

TweetCaster Pro on my Galaxy Nexus had that functionality and I can't get it on the tablet. If I'm missing something please let me know.

Scope, use it for tumblr and twitter.
Is there a Twitter client which synchronises your position in your timeline over multiple devices? For example, if I check my timeline on my phone I then have to remember how far I got when I later check it on my N7, and then repeat back and forth every time I use the other device.
Oh wow, nice - I missed that he updated his app for the N7!
Haven't tried it on my N7 but I like Ubersocial on my phone.

You're looking for TweetMarker support and so far your only two options are TweetCaster and Plume. Note that it has to be enabled in settings on both devices before it'll work.

Has anyone else experienced an out of focus play magazines? Each new page is a bit blurry until you tap on the page, which then brings just that page into focus.

Nope. Magazines look just fine here.
Have you downloaded the mags or are you streaming ? And if streaming you're doing it via 3G or Wi-Fi ?
Restart the nexus. I had that sort of problem and a reboot fixed it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I had/have the same issue. Got the solution on another post, there's a drop down at the top (tap near top once you open magazine) that puts it into "view text" mode and gets much crisper.
I just noticed it too. Not a big deal since you just have to tap on the page, but I wonder if its all of them or just some of them have the issue? Im not even sure if my magazines are downloaded or not from the play store, or if its just streaming like a video, Ill have to check...
Edit: actually mine werent downloaded, but it does the same thing anyway. It doesnt do it with books though
I too have focus problems
The magazines definitely have a "focus" bug. You actually need to tap twice -- once to render the image so it's legible and again so the page list at the bottom disappears. It quickly gets annoying and I'm surprised more people haven't noticed this. I contacted Google about it but I received a cut-n-paste response on how to operate the reader. It's definitely a software bug that can easily be remedied.
Just my opinion, but for me a 7 inch tablet is too small for magazines. If you fit one page, the text is too small to read.
Absolutely perfect for books.
Judging from the sample magazines, they are wall - to - wall ads anyway.
Have not tried comics - how do they look?

Firefox on the PC is notorious for having all sorts of memory leaks. It's gotten a bit better with updates but it's still pretty bad. At least I don't hit 800,000K of memory with it anymore. I may have to check this out though

My opinion of firefox on the Nexus 7
To me when i first start it up it flies thru pages.. Then i realize its quite clumbsy .. Mis touches often.. Putting in passwords is a pain in the Butt . I find it leaving the password box. jumping from zoom to not zoom. and so on .. It seems if they would slow the ui down just a bit it would work better.. NOW Once your past that it does load pages better . Page rendering seems to be a big faster but it shows things being rendered. With the NEW Chrome they do most of that in the background and you see a micro second or so of lag while its rendered then pushed to you. With firefox you can see the text come into focus..
SO Over all i would say its Much better then there past tries..
my conclusion is . to stick to Chrome and stock browser for sites that do not like chrome.. But keep watching and checking out FIREFOX in the mean time...
Anyone with comments on the above is very welcome . If im the only one with such issues i would like to know .. OHH I USED Thumbs keyboard . stock android keyboard and swift x keyboard there latest one. SWIFT IS VERY BUGGY AT TIMES . SCRAMBLES WORDS AND TEXT . ESPECIALLY in Word processor .. Thumbs most stable ...
Why so many versions? I've been on Aurora for a few weeks and really liking it. Only thing I don't like is bookmark access. I just loaded the new one and it does seem a bit faster loading pages. The UI looks identical to Aurora (why 2 versions?). Not sure what the password problem is mentioned, I find it no different than any other browser (I use Swype).
The "Desktop by default" doesn't seem to work most of the time, but that doesn't bother me, I just hit "Desktop" version at the bottom of the mobile page if I want to see it. Most bookmarks that are www. do go to Desktop version. There's a few good extensions that "usually" work, "Always zoom", "TapTapWrap", and Adblock. Has 4 built in search engines, which you can add to the list. I really don't like all the clicks to bookmarks, but I solved that by just having a shortcut folder on my home screen that goes straight to my most used ones.
Sure seems like there should be an "import from Aurora" rather than just from default browser... a little pain getting the new version set up. Seems stupid you need to re-set up sync. I'll convert to FF for a few weeks to see if there's much difference. Plays flash just as well as Aurora.
Seems nice but boat browser does everything it does including flash and is a little easier to navigate IMO.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I agree, but I use FF at work and home, and the syncing is great (can edit mobile bm folder on PC, rearrange, rename, add folders, and sync!). I do like Chrome a lot, but FF finally seems to work as well (as far as zooming and wrapping). I tend to prefer one browser so I don't get too confused. I do have and like Boat on my Froyo phone.

There's no "Firefox Tablet" version, it's just called Firefox.
Yes, just Firefox, Firefox Beta, and Aurora. "Firefox" seems best now (updated yesterday).
NEW:
* Support for tablets, including faster startup and beautiful new design
* Find in page
* Text Selection fixed
* Desktop sites can be requested from the menu
* Better tabs experience - swipe to close
* Support for SPDY networking protocol v3
* Bookmarks & history can be imported from stock browser in the Settings
I can't figure out Swipe to close... and question "beautiful new design".

Honestly I've tried most of them but chrome is so much nicer. Proper tabs with swipe left and right. The misclick thing that pops up to confirm what you really want. The only browser I haven't tried is xscope and I dont think I will since there's no free version.
Swipe to close is just like the normal app close thing. When you are looking at the open tabs you swipe off the one you don't want.
Since currents got taken down and replaced by new stand are there any alternatives out there that are similar to currents? I liked how it sorts your subscription by categories and you can access the categories by swiping in from the left and once in a category if you swipe from the right you can access different subscriptions... Anything out there that does this?
