Ok S-Voice AND Google Now? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So here's my thinking, why do we need Google Now in jb when we got S-Voice? Are we still going to have s-Voice in jelly bean? Cause that'd be really stupid if we had both. What do you guys think?

Google now offers more then just voice search. Google now cards and weather and flight and traffic available at the push of a button. S voice is stupid gimmicks to me. Kind of made them weak... but ya stupid for both but they will both be in JB.

Well I tried Google Now when I had a nexus pretty responsive compared to svoice but svoice is part of the s3.

I think S-voice is stupid compared to G voice. The Google app understands me better and knows when I have stopped talking as oppose to S voice where I have to hit the button.

Visual Voicemail doesn't work

OK, so I'm rooted on AKOP, but this happened when I was still on stock.
I get texts that there is visual voicemail activity, then I have to go to the app and manually sync the voicemail to get it to appear and download.
Then when I delete the voicemail, I get another annoying text that says there has been "visual voicemail" activity.
Any provisioning ideas or fixes? Sorry if this has been asked already. I'm on my GN and did a search w/ no luck. My "My Verizon" also doesn't work if that's helpful. Thanks in advance!

I've called Verizon and they told me they'd call me once there is an answer but for now I should use a different texting app so for me hand cent and just block texts. Its a pain.

Yeah, but those texts are literally the only notifications I get for voicemail now, so I would hate to stop them. Really annoyed.

Just discovered a lot of people are having the same issue after upgrading.
Does anyone know where to find a Galaxy Nexus visual voicemail. apk with a build prior to 2.0.5? Thanks!

Oh wow sorry I missed that... I get the voicemail notifications and the texts so I have no idea. Would going to an older version really fix it?

Only one way to find out! Can anyone link to Visual voicemail 2.0.4 for the GN or earlier? Please?!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Well this is probably not an answer to your problem, but save the 2.99 a month you pay for visual voice mail and switch to Google Voice.
This happened to me when I first rooted my TBolt and it was annoying, until I activated GVoice on my phone. Have not looked back since.

Stock Jellybean does not support visual voicemail. You would need an app like Google Voice or Youmail
That's not correct, ice cream sandwich added visual voicemail support, don't believe me? watch the keynote. Its up to the carriers to implement support for it.

They added support for visual voice mail in the dialer for Google Voice. You still need Google Voice for it to work. Watch the keynote again.
I stand corrected.
Well that's completely stupid on Google's part. Doesn't affect me too much since i don't use voicemail that much so that's probably why I skimmed over the feature on the keynote.

Yeah, sorry, I should have been more clear. Even though it requires Google Voice - It does integrate into the stock dialer rather nice - that's my 2 cents.

Does JB replace S Voice with Google Now when you upgrade???

Asking all the people who are running the early builds or anyone who scored an official?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda premium
No. It doesn't replace it. You get Google Now still. And the voice for S Voice changes. More humanly. But still not as real sounding as Google Now. I re mapped my home button to launch Google Now because S Voice has always been incredibly slow and not that great IMO

All you have to do is hold the menu soft key to launch Google Now.

Yeah. But I wanted the feel of S Voice (one of the only good things about it), with the brain of Google Now, you know?
I wonder why Samsung is still trying to push S Voice so hard when Google's own software is vastly better the S Voice. I kinda would have preferred if it was taken out completely.

Can Google Now launch apps? I know S Voice can...

Not hard, considering Siri is a dumb broad..
I can't think of a single possible reason one would choose S Voice over Google Now. It's just terrible. Sure, being able to control the phone with your voice is a neat feature. But it's useless. I can launch any app on my phone faster than you can get S Voice to do it. Cool + impractical = useless.
I suggest keeping both S Voice and Google Now. On Jelly Bean, you'll be getting Google Now which is an addition for voice prompts. S Voice is mostly used to control the phone and launching commands whereas Google Now is great for searching.
S Voice = Commands, Launches (EX. Text John Smith Where are you?)
Google Now = Searches (EX. What is tomorrow's weather in Los Angeles?)
Both have their PROS and CONS.

With the new Google Hangout... does this mean no Google Babel?

With the release of Google Hangouts yesterday and the talk of it eventually becoming an SMS app as well, does this mean that Google Hangouts basically is Google Babel lol? Thanks!

It's not uncommon for google products to have different names when in the initial design phase. I wouldn't be surprised if Hangouts incorporated all of the leaked features of Babel. Hangouts is already a relatively-established product and Google has had issues in recent history of introducing new products (look at Buzz, Wave, and the first 6 months of G+).
On a side note, when I mentioned the name Babel to my wife, she said "They named it after the city that God smote for their arrogance? That's bold of Google." I laughed.
I would assume so. I'm using the Google Hangouts app right now and so for, it seems like Google Babel and all of its incorporated features that was mentioned.

Hmmmm interesting. Thanks guys.
Now on other note... what exactly is Google Hangouts? I never used GTalk so I don't really know the point of it lol. Is it basically like kik or like an instant messenger? Thanks.

Think of it as a whatsapp for Google. Anything Google puts out is useful in some way some how.

Can anyone develope a google voice integartion into touchwiz dialer

Hi,
I'm on the Moar Rom and was wondering if anyone can create an integrated dialer with google voice. The first integration I would like is the ability to see voicemails in the call log. This is available on stock android by setting it in google voice app but doesn't work with the touchwiz dialer. The second integration I would like is for the bottom left button be able to launch the google voice app. Thanx in advance
I don't believe so. But that's sorta what a voice is lol.. Say call who ever and it will
Your confusing Google search/now with google voice. Thanx though
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Nah sorry man. Stupid typo. I meant S VOICE.
It still doesn't seem like you read my original question, or you just don't know what Google voice is. Thanx though
