[toolbar] at&t xda pc browser toolbar - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

AT&T Galaxy S3 xda themed Toolbar. This is my second toolbar. It is for your PC's internet browser. It is compatible with IE, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It has many useful buttons such as links to your User profile in XDA, a Pandora app, RSS feeds from XDA's front-page, XDA tv, and a button to the following AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus forums, with nifty menus: General, Q & A, Development, Original Development, and Accessories. The best part is: IT'S FREE! Download, use, enjoy! If some of the buttons to the right of the player on the right aren't useful to you, disable them by right-clicking the toolbar and going to options. Please give constructive feedback, I'm totally open to listening and adding even more useful things.

I'm not a developer, and only an intermediate(?) VBA programmer for my own solutions. (Though several of those are quite involved.)
I have a question that I'd like to post on the Developers forum, because I believe it falls in "their" wheelhouse.
I've read and respect the posting guidelines published for each forum and the site generally.
I've done my web search diligence, and have posted inquiry on other sites specific to my device and the particular application(s) involved. No luck.
Am requesting permission/blessing to post the following:
Keystrokes as code?
Specifically Excel Mobile keyboard shortcut Alt-PgUp/Dn
I've created several Keystroke "routines" to minimize stylus use in Excel Mobile. I've mapped to hardware buttons, and they all work great... except Alt-PgUp(and PgDn). In Excel, these key combos will scroll one screen left or right, respectively. Other similarly-coded "routines" work as expected.
I've worked around this for now by recording screentaps in Excel's horizontal scrollbar. Unfortunately, the location of that s/b depends on whether SIP is active. If it is, the vertical co-ordinates of the screentaps become irrelevant and/or potentially destructive to my intended result. I prefer to avoid "position dependent" commands whenever possible for obvious reasons.
I have several other programs at my disposal to effect the Alt-PgUp/Dn shortcut(s).... IF I knew how to define the values(?) of Alt-PgUp/Dn in a script.
(MortScript, PHMkeys, Pen Commander, Spb FullScreenKb, PDA MediaKb)
I've been all over the web, and I think I understand keystroke scan-codes and values... and how they work together. Is there something akin to an ASCII "value" for this key combination? (099/0A1; 073/081; 153/161)?
Any ideas are appreciated. I've no aversion to research or work, but can't figure out what to ask or where to look further.
(I just really need a more direct/reliable functionality to scroll entire screen at a time left/right.)
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Dell Axim x51v WM5 (if it matters)
(Please feel free to "re-direct"/re-locate/modify/enlighten etc.)
pro-fit2: your post sounds like one of the very few that truly does merit going in the developer forum Please repost it there.
BTW, the solution to your problem sounds like you could just emulate scrollbar commands, rather then keyboard commands. That's fairly easy to do by posting WM_VSCROLL or directly manipulating the scrollbars in code. With that you can emulate smooth scroll, line scroll and page scroll. I wrote an app that can do that, once upon a time.

Scroll bar control, accessing, WM_HSCROLL
Vijay, thank you for permission and input.
Before I go further, I like the sound of your suggestion, but my code background is primarily VBA thru Excel, from which I access some minor(?) "other" things like PrintDialog, or other MS Office apps...
I'm willing to work through the API(?) to access window scrollbar controls, WM_HSCROLL (etc), but I would need a more basic start. If it's easy to generate, I'd love to see some further detail on the approach you described.
Thanks either way,
Pro-Fit
pro-fit2: apologies for being an ass, but could you open a thread in the developers forum, and I'll paste some code in.
I would open it for you, but it's better if it's opened under your member ID.
To get you started, this is a not particularly good article on scrollbar functions in vb.net. It's not VBA, but should give you an idea.
There are two ways to control the scrolling -
method 1: by sending the scrollbar a rough command to scroll up/down/left/right one line or one page. [ WM_VSCROLL with SB_LINEDOWN/SB_PAGEDOWN ]
method 2: by sending specific thumbposition control commands, which will give you fine control over the scrollbar. Frankly, this is probably what you don't need as it requires you to interrogate the scrollbar and then react accordingly. You just need to emulate line up/down I think. Look into SetScrollInfo etc.
Again, apologies for being obtuse, but there's no point filling this thread with redundant info. But start here:

Open the development thread and we'll continue

best internet app for excalibur

hello,
i was wondering what's the best internet application apart from internet explorer, i know there's opera - is there anything else that is easy on the eyes and makes the internet experience like the desktop - in other words zooms to the size of the screen? please help, thanks.
any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
can someone just suggest an app, please?
Opera Mobile works well.
http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/
thanks for the prompt reply.
I would have answered but internet App is a loose term. Any application that connects to the internet would be an internet app. If you would have said browser I would have told you Opera, DeepFish, or JB5.
oops, you're right - sorry i meant internet browser, lol. what was i thinking?
BTW, this is another kind of thread that should be posted to the Smartphone General forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323651
deepfish?? jb5? are they good??
can someone post some links.. plz..
Deepfish is a microsoft browser that certain users who signed up for the beta have. It's currently still being developed and registration numbers aren't being handed out at this time. If you google JB5, it's the first link.
Deep fish is comparable to Opera Mini, & iPhones Safari. Same concept. True webpage that you can access and zoom in on.
i like using opera mini 4 beta the best. the full page browsing is really cool. the two downsides though is that it zaps your battery and it doesnt keep you logged into web pages
hey thanks for the reply, but when you mean it doesn't keep you logged in?
MiniMo
There's a new browser on the block that I'm surprised no one has mentioned: MiniMo. The MiniMo project is an attempt to make a Windows Mobile version of Mozilla (as in the underlying technologies used in FireFox, such as the Gecko rendering engine). So far, it's at version 0.2, but has major flaws. It grinds my Dash to a halt very often, it has too many on screen buttons, navigation is a pain in the neck without a touch screen, and it has major stability issues (ranging from the program just not starting to locking up the entire device).
While this won't help you now, it's something to look forward to, and at least its current progress is accessible, unlike JB5 and DeepFish, and at least it's free, unlike Opera Mobile.

[REQ] A browser with good smallscreen rendering for forums

As my beloved PIEPlus doesn't work with the new IE cooked into the latest 6.5 ROMs, I am on the search for a browser that fits my needs.
I do the vast majority of my browsing using my phone (>95%) and most of that is reading forums.
I need a browser that renders pages in a readable format straight away, without the need to zoom in and/or horizontal scroll.
It must have a vertical scrollbar, or some other method of fast scrolling long pages of text without getting thumbswipe RSI !!
It needs to have multiple tabs/instances.
I have played about with Opera/Iris/Netfront/skyfire but always seem to be messing about zooming/scrolling to get the forum posts readable. If these browsers can do what I need, how do I persuade them to do it?
Are there any tweaks in Opera:config that will help me? It mentions scrollbars in there, but I'm bug***ed if I can make 'em appear!
They're all rubbish.
What's most frustrating is that each browser has one or two strengths.. but there are none that tick all the boxes.
Ideally you would have a browser that is as fast and stable as opera mini, user friendly as opera mobile and plays flash and video like skyfire or iris.
But as I don't need flash or video... ??
I just need to render forums laid out in table format (like this one) in a useful manner.
Opera mini, then.
It's fast and it's the one I use for forums.. the lack of tabs is annoying, and the lack of copy/paste but it's good for reading and ok for entering text.
It's also fast enough to not be a pain switching back and forth between threads... not as good as tabs - but useable.

Wow, if only we had a Sticky where we could put all these apps and it would be easy to find and others could contribute to it and make it really special.

Actually, there's a lot special about that thread. For one, it is a Sticky, making it easy to find, and it is in the Apps subforum where it belongs. For another, it has lots of useful posts from users with not only their ideas on helpful software for our phones, but many links to much of that software and even attached files that can be downloaded without leaving the thread.
You're right about your thread not being special (it's the only thing lame in all this). It has many of the same apps already in the Sticky and little of new value. Had you posted your list in the existing Sticky I'm sure someone might have found it useful, but by starting a new thread in the wrong subforum you've only added to the clutter that makes things hard to find and defeats the purpose of doing a search. Thanks for that.
