[Q] Revive Guide to install official ICS Rom on 2011 and 2012 Xperias - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is follow in from thread = [Q] How to Root Xperia Arc LT15a 2.3.4 Build: 4.0.2.A.0.62
[ I cannot edit/post to my thead "To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages"? ]
I don't know why this thread is dead, it seems to do what I want and install official ICS and root the phone except it states after install "Its your wish if you want to stay on it but i suggest you to repair your phone software using SUS. It will reinstall the original ICS software in your mobile"
which suggests requirement, not mentioned, to have ICS installed and not the version I have installed Gingerbread v62 (4.0.2.a.0.62 2.3.4). Can anyone help?
-----------------------2nd post here as cannot post reply ------------------
Sorry I was not clear, I have Xperia Arc LT15a 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.A.0.62 installed with an unlocked boot loader and want a site that will give me the steps to :
1) install the latest official ICS
2) root the phone
I was following steps to do this on one site that required unlocking the bootloader, which I've done, but could not continue with the remaining steps as the links were a problem.

[Q] Unlock Bootloader and Rooting

I am proud owner of SE xperia arc and updated to 2.3.4. with latest 4.0.2.A.0.42 build. I have few queries regarding unlocking bootloader and rooting the device.
1) I understand what is unloking bootloader, by instruction given by SE officials. I want to confirm that will i be still able to update with SE Companion for any new release they offer after going for unlock?
2) I have seen many thread confirming rooting of arc with custom ROM. Is there any specific thread/link where i can find SE custom ROM with same features offered by original ROM?
3) Will the features differ in custom ROM from original one?
The reason i want do rooting is just want to get rid of useless apps installed by SE itself and to get more RAM free for my other frequent apps.
I do understand these things are answered here and there by i need a consolidated one.

.
and many more if you can spend some time in searching.
1. No, you will not be able to recive new updates from sony ericsson (un less you relock your bootloader and flash it to stock ROM)
2. The best one is cyanogenMOD

More CUSTOM ROMS

3. CyanogenMOD and every other customROM have more features than original (some are kicked out, some are added to it, by the will of maker)
P.S.
For rooting you dosent need to UNLOCK BOOTLOADER, you just need to ROOT it..
Unlocking bootloader remove your warranty..dont unlock it if you dont wanna custom ROM on your phone...

How to install ICS for newbies

Hi, Can someone put together a newbies guide for getting ICS on the Xperia Arc S.
I have a unlocked bootloader, but all the information in the developers section is rather confusing (most because they don't differentiate between Arc or Arc S, so it's unclear if it's safe to load). It also seems much more complicated to get CWM that it is on my other Android device (Asus Transformer) and previous Android devices.
I am looking for something is is basically the ICS beta release by SE, but with the fixes to get the missing stuff like Wifi back.
Thanks.
bare in mind i am very new to this but i have managed to flash install ICS on my arc
for CWM i assume you say its difficult because rom manager says device is not supported?
well i was worried but after some searching i found "auto instaler"
which allowed me to install CWM
i then managed to get ICS
id feel better if i didnt explain steps...as i dont want to confuse you as i said i am very new to all this
... search is your friend.

Make sure you click through to the video and read the description.
Im also a NOOB..... few day ago
my experience is
u need to
1.unlock your phone
2. root your phone
3. learn use fastboot to install Kernel
4. use CWM (mostly include in Kernel) to install ROM
then will work (this is short version explain)
im using arconium ICS (choose one of the kernel that provided and install first then install the ROM)

[Q] New Xperia Arc S user and some questions

Hi,
I'm a new Xperia Arc S user, this is my first android phone as well (previously - WP7 on Samsung Focus, unlocked it and installed custom roms there - im experienced)
Got this phone since a couple of days now, it's running android 2.3.4, as ICS update is not available in my country yet. The phone came with PlusGSM branding, although can't tell the difference to stock android because I never had one.
I installed couple of apps, did some updates from android market and now I have like 44MB free only. Anyway now I'm wondering what to do next? Do you recommend anything in particular, like flashing to ICS, rooting, wait for official ICS update, etc?
Gonna read some guides like "Ultimate v1.0 Newbie's Guide For Arc / Arc S User" meantime
Wrong forum for question look at Q&A Section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1182
Oh sorry for that, could a moderator move my thread there?
ps. I'm just upgrading to official ICS via PC Companion, it poped up 1h ago...
I heard that there is no valid method of unlocking bootloader on Xperia Arc S without loosing DRM's. So I would like skip this part and try some custom roms that doesnt require to have it unlocked. Could you recommend any particular custom ICS roms ?

Xperia Arc GB to ICS look?

Hey, I am using my xperia arc. And I would like to have my UI look like ICS, but still stay on Ginger Bread since it is more stable according to the official Sony website. I currently have the .62 software, Android 2.3.4, boot loader unlocked and I have no idea what I should do after my boot loader's unlocked. Moreover, I have the flash tool software, but I don't get what would happen if I flash some software (i.e the global generic software from Sony). And I would like to have a tutorial on how to get my phone look like ICS. So if you guys can help me out it would be great cheers.
*Please also show me the download link and the phone is not ROOTED.
Please do a little search in the ARC Theme section. Everything is there. And your phone must be rooted to use any UI MOD.
For rooting instructions check the ARC General section. The procedures threads are in top. All are sticky.

[Q] Is it safe to Flash Lt18a firmware on a Lt15a

I don't think it is but I can't seem to find any working Xperia Arc 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.42) firmware at the moment and I only have the firmware for the arc s I've been searching for hr's now with no luck , this ICS isn't working so well on my device .
No, but here's the lt15 thread.
I think I've already down loaded this maybe I just don't have the program to open it .
It's for flashtool which is the first post on the development section. The instructions are fairly easy to follow, use it to flash stock roms. The files such as the one I linked contain the rom, baseband and kernel.
Have a look at this thread here. It has a list of firmwares for both LT15 and LT18, including Generic USA 2.3.4 (.62).
For the ICS Generic USA 4.0.4, check out this thread.
If you're prepared to flash ROMs, I'd suggest you give ICS a try once again. I find it pretty good. Perhaps the version you were using earlier was buggy.
Cheers! Hope this helped.
EDIT: You can find the latest version of Flashtool at its homepage on github here.
